I left the sin of homosexuality in 2009. And I used to attack Christians. That word LOVE is thrown out there to confuse.. yes Jesus loves ALL, and that’s why He died for ALL. Cleaned of our sins. Sexual immorality including homosexual is sin. Pastors are not teaching Biblical truth on this. I’ve experienced it. I lived with a woman 18 years. And I praise God that my youngest son and the church youth pastors prayed for me. It’s a long story people are just writing books but what about the main book. The Bible, answers are there ❤

As a Catholic, thank you so much for reporting on this.🕊️
I really respect Churches who stand up for what they believe and are willing to excommunicate people, no matter how much we love them, when they habitually go forward in manifest grave sin. They just bring so many people down with them otherwise.
The Catholic Church doesn't do it. We are hypocrites in that way. How come it's so easy to forget Jesus loving enough to say, " go and sin no more."
None of us learn in life( generally,) without suffering. Then we self examine when a good is taken away due to our behavior. Everyone has a cross to bear, but God is strong enough to transform us.
Thank God. God have mercy on me a sinner.

So if a pastor allows these false teachings to occur then it is the resonsibility of the deacons and members to dismiss that pastor.

Well the church is like a hospital with many diseases. We want a cure, but when we don’t get it we get a second, third or fourth and so on opinions. But we don’t find the cure because the cure is in the Great Physician Jesus Christ. And if you keep jumping from one church to another it’s because you are not looking for the the One and only true Christ, you’re looking for a church to accommodate your sin, your not willing to surrender your life. OK, watched this twice and have been dealing with this issue for 15 years. So what do you tell Christian parents of LGBTQ children? I left the church 10+ years ago for this very reason. Back then, crickets. I knew I wasn’t the only parent facing this. What did I get from my church and several others that I tried to get help from? Silence. Sympathy.. Or simply. It’s a sin, don’t condone it and you don’t have to accept your child’s sin, his partner or attend his wedding in the future. (at the time my son was only 17 so that wasn’t even an issue yet.). So then what…kick my child out of the house? Never speak to him again? Pretend I didn’t carry him in my womb for nine months and bring him into this world? Again, love the sinner, not the sin. Useless platitudes. So I wasn’t aware that there were any type of ministries to help parents because I have been away from church for so many years, and for that I am thankful. However, I completely understand where you are coming from because I have struggled with this for so many years. And what is happening in the church is no surprise to me. in fact one of the reasons why I left going to church is because of people like Rick Warren, and others who I knew were not who they say they were. I went to a large evangelical mega church for 10 to 12 years and at first I bought into all of it.. it was fun. It was encouraging. It was like going to the Oprah show. It made church fun again. But after a few years, something felt off. It felt superficial. Then when our son came out to us, I tried to seek help from the head pastors, and from other ministries within the church. Nothing. They just refused to discuss the subject. I went online and did my own research. I met other Christian parents who were going through the same thing.. Some of them left churches, they have been attending for generations. They no longer felt welcome. Some of them felt shame and embarrassment, and just left on their own. So you had Christian parents of LGBTQ youth, who didn’t know what to do, didn’t know where to turn, got absolutely no support. They were like lost at sea. For some of them, church was a big part up their life. All of their friends attended their church. Many of their social engagements involved the church. They lost all of that.
I am not arguing with one thing you are saying and I’m not going to enter a debate about whether or not homosexuality is sin. I can read. I know what it says in the Bible. I don’t think there has been a day that has gone by in 15+ years that I haven’t thought about this issue and wrestled with it in my head and my heart. Now, while I haven’t been to church in many many years and wasn’t aware of some of the current ministries that have sprung up to “help” parents, I have been aware of the infiltration of the left-wing Democratic ideology. You don’t have to attend church to know what is happening in our culture is also happening in our churches. You don’t have to be a scholar or an elite to recognize wolves in sheep’s clothing. And my suspicions turned out correct because all these years later, not only are pastors talking about LGBTQ issues some of them are condoning them. That is not what I wanted from a church. I didn’t want a church to tell me that homosexuality was OK. I also didn’t want a church to say “your child is going to hell and get as far away from him as possible“. Neither of those scenarios are helpful. Yes God said there would be struggles in the world, and He should be put first and all matters.
Whenever I get into these discussions online or with others in my social circles I always ask this question. What would you do if your child came out to you? Most people can’t answer this question. Most Christians, who are firm believers that homosexuality is a sin believe that they would not support or condone this, and they would be upfront and honest with their child. They would be wrong. I’ve seen it time and time again in hundreds of Christian parents. When asked what they would do if their child said well, if you don’t accept me, then I’m not in your life or if you can’t be civil to my partner for Christmas. Very few Christians have answered the question directly because we all have this fairytale version of what family should be and no one wants to be the mean person. That is not saying that I do not know any Christians who have prodigal children who they are not in current relationship with. But most of the Christians I know who have LGBTQ children still struggle with the balance of their beliefs and love for their child. I know from listening to these discussions frequently on Podcasts that most Christians will say it wouldn’t be a struggle for you because you hold onto your beliefs dearly, regardless of your child’s choices. But I’m here to tell you, until you’ve walked a mile in my shoes you don’t really know. When your child is sobbing in your arms, fearful that you are kicking them out of the family they dearly love, and you start telling them they are sinners and they need to change their ways, and you see their anguish and their torment, and they’re questioning why God made them that way (because when they’re young and coming out, that’s the only thing they can think of to say) and you are sobbing right along with them because life as you know it is about to change… then come talk to me. I’m not here to say that you change your convictions or you disobey God and start accepting homosexuality just because your kid comes out. But Facing this as a Christian parent is devastating no matter how strong your convictions are. So to all those who just simply say, homosexuality is a sin and do not accept it even in your own child, and to those who say well, the Bible doesn’t really mean that and it’s OK to be affirming and accepting… that is just one extreme to another and not very helpful. You have many many many many many many more than you could ever know Christian parents who struggle with this daily, some have left the church. Some of their churches turned their back on them, some have left Christianity altogether not just the church. None of the solutions that any of the experts have provided have been very helpful.. I watch these podcasts and I read all the comments I rarely ever hear from any of you who have dealt with this issue personally. Where are you? I know you’re out there.
Meanwhile, we Christian parents of LGBTQ children sit at the crossroads while all of you discuss this and none of you have gay children. Now, of course I’m generalizing here because I have come across a few of these discussions where someone actually does have a gay or trans child. But usually those people are Advocating for acceptance and inclusion. They’ve gone way to the other side in convincing us that ‘the Bible doesn’t really mean it’s a sin…or that it’s referring to rape, etc. I’ve yet to hear a podcast by someone who is strong in their beliefs and convictions, but has a gay child and is struggling with all of it. Usually the people speaking out about this have made up their minds, one side or the other. This is just a reminder that hey there’s a lot of confusion around this issue and people who are dealing with this daily basis are out here dancing in the wind while you all are stating your cases.
I mean no disrespect to the podcaster or his guest and realize that my words may come across a bit harsh. Partially contributed to the fact that I am voice texting and the emotion is coming through my voice . Also I apologize for any grammatical or spelling errors as I am voice texting. Thank you for listening and I would love anyone’s thoughts on what I’ve written.

The love we have for our children cannot be measured. I pray for clergy to open their eyes and hearts to hear the parents cries and anguish and not turn away from you. Wow! I can feel your pain and the anguish on this topic. You have had to live it. We are living in a world where one’s sexuality has become one’s whole identity. None of the nine+ major world religions that I am aware of agree with LGBTQ ideologies. With Christianity only representing one of those. At the same time Faith communities need to be more inclusive, supportive and loving but also not sell their souls in the process and change scripture that has withstood the test of time.
I believe a lot of answers will become known as we learn more and more about this subject. There is more and more evidence that young women are entering puberty earlier and earlier these days which tells me there’s an environmental component in our water and food supply but of course, nothing is conclusive. How many birth control pills have been flushed down the drain? I am certainly not saying that this is the sole cause of all this, but I think it’s part of the problem.
There are a few interesting books by a doctor called Dr Leonard Sax on gender, which touch on these subjects, but also cover a lot of other fascinating information that teachers and parents really need to know about their children. His conclusions are more backed up by research and not just opinion and hearsay. 100 years from now our future families will look back at this time and shake their heads and probably have a very different attitude.
Heterosexual people of Faith also need to practice chastity, and our sexuality is only one small part of our life. For some of this has become their entire identity.
Many have thrown the baby out with the bathwater and this has ripped apart, congregations and faith communities all over. I pray that you will find some solace in this issue. I did lose a good friend who could not stay in our community because his grandchild came out as gay. Nothing that I said or did, but he just couldn’t get there or even discuss it. Again, throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not always the best solution for all concerned.

Megan has brought up some legitimate concerns about Northpoint and Saddleback church, and Embracing the Journey specifically. However, when she basically lumps Greg Johnson of Revoice into the same category, by misrepresenting what he actually says in his book, then it becomes apparent that Megan is doing more harm than good here. Blowing the whistle on legitimate compromises is not license to bear false witness against another believer.

The culture is going this way because the churches were already going this way because pastors were going this way. Culture goes the way of the church. We see these problems in the culture because the foundation for the problem was already in the church. The full blown lies may not have been in the churches but the foundation for those lies to built on were laid by the church. We have problems with our theology in our churches because our pastors have holes in their theology. Case in point: the current controversy with Alistair Begg

OK, watched this twice and have been dealing with this issue for 15 years. So what do you tell Christian parents of LGBTQ children? I left the church 10+ years ago for this very reason. Back then, crickets. I knew I wasn’t the only parent facing this. What did I get for my church and several Walthers that I tried to get help from Silence. Sympathy.. So I wasn’t aware that there were any type of ministries to help parents and for that I am thankful. However, I completely understand where you are coming from because I have struggled with this for so many years. And what is happening in the church is no surprise to me. And back one of the reasons why I left going to church is because of people like Rick Warren, and others who I knew were not who they say they were. So you had the C of Christian parents of LGBTQ youth, who didn’t know what to do, didn’t know where to turn, got absolutely no support. They were like lost atsea. For some of them, church was a big part up their life. All of their friends attended their church. Many of their social engagements involved the church.
I am not arguing with one thing you are saying and I’m not going to enter a debate about whether or not sexuality is sin. And my suspicions turned out correct because all these years later, not only our pastors talking about LGBTQ issues some of them are condoning them.
