Newton Abbot on film 1965

  • In 1965 I bought my wind-up film camera. Remember this was many years before the advent of camcorders and the films were quite expensive on my salary [[cost about £5], so shots were kept to a minimum in order to get as much out of a 5 minute film as possible. One of the first things I did was to go around town filming - this was the result. I subsequently re-filmed this by camcorder from a small screen and committed it to VHS thence to DVD. The result is not brilliant, for which I apologise, but it may be of interest to see various parts of Newton Abbot, well before the one way system was introduced.

Sadly, no. Soon after, I worked in Cornwall, only coming home some weekends. However, have got plenty of pictures and photos gleaned from Dave Grylls N.A. Nostalgia on FB, including Penn Inn Park, the Penguin [later renamed as the Penn Inn] and many others. Now living in Paignton; Do you still live in the area?
