Newton Abbot on film 1965
In 1965 I bought my wind-up film camera. Remember this was many years before the advent of camcorders and the films were quite expensive on my salary [[cost about £5], so shots were kept to a minimum in order to get as much out of a 5 minute film as possible. One of the first things I did was to go around town filming - this was the result. I subsequently re-filmed this by camcorder from a small screen and committed it to VHS thence to DVD. The result is not brilliant, for which I apologise, but it may be of interest to see various parts of Newton Abbot, well before the one way system was introduced.

Devon County Show 19 May 1995

Her Majesty the Queen attended the Devon County Show in 1995 and I was lucky to have been able to get a few shots of her in this film. Quality is not too evident in this, as it was transferred from camcorder tape to video, and subsequently from video to DVD.
Badger watch : July-August 1994

Although the quality of the film is not brilliant, and the lighting poor, this is a record of the nightly visits which we used to have from a family of badgers. The younger ones in particular were quite amusing. Our younger cat, Toffee, would happily sit and watch them, and although chased away from time to time, she was perfectly prepared to return. Our other cat, Smokey, was distinctly anti-ba...
Oradour-sur-Glane, France - visited June 2013
Просмотров 556 лет назад
On 10 June 1944, the village of Oradour-sur-Glane in Haute-Vienne in Nazi-occupied France was destroyed and 642 of its inhabitants, including women and children, were massacred by a German Waffen-SS company. A new village was built nearby after the war, but French president Charles de Gaulle ordered the original maintained as a permanent memorial and museum. Our daughter took us on a visit to O...
Red Arrows & air display from Jawbone Hill, Dartmouth - August 2007

On a fine Regatta day, it's well worth the climb up Jawbone Hill, Dartmouth, to have a brilliant view of the air-show above the River Dart. This is my amateur filming, so I apologise for any out of focus shots, speedy panning etc. Hope you enjoy the view.
Dartmouth Regatta - the Red Arrows over River Dart - 24 August 2000

This is my amateur film of the Red Arrows at Dartmouth on 24 August 2000 - I apologise for any blips in my filming, but hope that it may be enjoyed in the sprit in which was made. This was filmed on a trip on a friend's boat from Dittisham to Dartmouth, and is the only time we have been mid-river for this display. Over the years, we have watched this from different viewpoints and I have also do...

I have not seen Dartmouth for getting near to 26 years! I used to live there with my parents! It wax a lovely magical experience at regatta time what with the fun fair in town and the sounding of the boat horns at the end of the show! That was lovely to watch! Thank you! 🙂😉😊

Sadly, no. Soon after, I worked in Cornwall, only coming home some weekends. However, have got plenty of pictures and photos gleaned from Dave Grylls N.A. Nostalgia on FB, including Penn Inn Park, the Penguin [later renamed as the Penn Inn] and many others. Now living in Paignton; Do you still live in the area?

@@iddycollins Yup. Seen them in many places, but Dartmouth is special. They use the space so we'll. And wherever you set up to watch them you can never _really_ be sure where the next formation is going to pop up.
