Roach motel barely beats me out. One winter day I found a really cool rock that I put in my pocket to show for show & tell. A horrible stink started following me around & before long, the teacher was having everyone show the bottom of their shoes. Everybody was gagging & nobody could figure it out, including me - until I reached into my pocket to pull out the "rock" for show & tell. It wasn't a rock anymore - just a giant squishy gross dog turd. I lost friends that day - everyone thinking I purposefully brought a dog turd for show & tell. 💩
Right. Because television is not entertaining now, and kids are not kids. Wait, what? WTF are you talking about, dude? Mikey is that guy at your office who just has to be the contrarian.

Do u suppose these kids, now young adults are getting to see this? Sure hope so. I’m thinking the sock boy & the singing girl are now married to each other & have 2 elementary school children!!!!
They have so many NYC elementary schools that maybe they’d run out of names, lol. Probably a good idea now with political correctness and adults arguing over building name dedications anyway.
But why a Latino boy with the roach motel...? Just wrong on so many levels. But still enjoyed the skit while watching the children act themselves. Thank God for these old clips that preceded political correctness.
I think your last sentence answered your own question. The OP stated that these kids actually brought their own stuff. The show didn’t produce the ideas as a sketch unlike the annual kids Halloween segment.
I do NOT think having a Latin kid with cockroaches is "just wrong on many levels." Why? It's a kid showing his life experiences. What's wrong is the comment section here with people joking that he grew up to be a criminal. THAT'S what's fucked up.
I would have thought those roaches would have been "cool" at his age. And it'd be icing on the cake if the roach motel had a spider or fly in there, too. It might be wrong on so many adult levels, but not on little kid ones. Kids make better people than big grownup people do. And they're more honest.
The kid simply being proud of the flashlight his mom gave him is about as wholesome as it gets.
Dead Cockroaches are wholesome too!
Yes indeed, sir.
The kid with the sock puppet using the same voice made it 10x funnier.
Very lovely 🥰
That Albert was sooooo cute in his suit.
We need more kids like Albert .
Any segments with a group of kids were always good because kids are naturally funny and so is Dave which always ended up hilarious.
I did NOT expect that segment to end the way it did. Dave was right, too. If you look closely, there is a roach sill alive in that trap. Wow.
"whata'ya think morty? saturday mornings 9 o'clock?" dave is hilarious with kids, his adult humor was a perfect combination for the kids and audience.
You think YOU'VE got problems?! Some people think I'm a SOCK!!
WoW just realized, those kids today in 2021 are 35, 36 years old.
...& the last one's probably in lock up.
The only one still alive is irene, you can google them....sad

Binge watching vintage letterman in 2022😂
The little girl singing is beautiful.
The first kid...MICK Foley..and Mr. Socko! LOL
A rat and cockroaches. The perfect New York City show and tell items.
Hahahahaha
Dave was amazing In these segments with kids and animals
Kids are animals too, because we are all animals and all animals have kids too
Sock puppet kid looked like he was diggin' Debbie Gibson kid.
It was the Joe dirt hair
“Albert, would you like to go into show business someday? Me too!” 😂
omg the kid with the flashlight so funny so cute hahahahahaaha

those kids are approaching 40 years old, crazy
I like the way David says"Thank you boys!" , like Lawrence Welk!
Australia 🇦🇺
Sad that NY schools don’t have names just letters & numbers.
I think Dave maybe woulda been a teacher if he hadn't decided to go into broadcasting.
Dead cockroaches. Why didn't I think of that for show-and-tell when I was in the 2nd grade? :/
Did anyone else notice after that girl sang the first two kids gave looks like ok trying to one up me?!
We all knew that kid who ate scabs, would drink anything, or would bring a roach motel full of dead bugs to show off at show and tell.

The little boy leaning in to hear the sock speak....
Jeez that last kid must've made a bad rep back @ his school. Especially back home. Nice one, Charlie. 🐜
Adorable ❤
All these kids are probably graduates, married with children, and homeowners now!🤔🤔
I wonder how many of them voted for Biden?
One of them owns a home and a motel 6
That last one opened up a Bug Circus...& acouple of "motels".

As soon as I saw Albert I thought Pee Wee Hermann
I can't believe Mick Foley stole that first kids gimmick!
These kids would be all pushing 30yrs now.
I'm sure the roach kid went far :-\
4:24 I swear I heard Dave say "two beautiful Ass names."
PS-105 Sounds like a prison, rather than a school for precious little children. Some genius must have named NYC schools.
Don’t be silly. Schools all over the country were ID’s as PS-xxx. My elementary school was PS-247 in Baltimore, late 50s.

Rats and Roaches was also the warm up band.
That was a little bizarre!
Like NYC doesn't have enough rats 😅
I love the way Dave is so uncomfortable around children. Like he doesn't know how to interact with them. Make these segments funny.

No, these were the kids’ choices.
