Big busines is just shitty to their employees.
Raise the minimum wage, incentivize base-employee wage increases and bonuses, and tax tf out of CEOs making 1M+/yr (read: the 1%).

I'm for raising minimum wages but the States like California, Washington, and Oregon that raise it based on inflation are kind of doing a disservice by mentioning that people making minimum wage can't afford rent in their cities. Also Doesn't Montana's raise every year as well?

the joke is that when Texas said "Then Mc Donald's would replace their workers with GODLESS robots" the reason Chick fil A is closed on Sunday is because they want their workers to got to work on Sunday, and if they are Godless robots then they would be open on Sundays.
@@perlamedrano3637 The biggest thing is that SC isn't a very rich state, so raising the minimum wage raises prices for things that are already expensive to us, and wages and salaries for people not making minimum wage tend not to be raised.
Not as big of a deal if you're fairly well off with your salary or wage, but not great for anyone that just is making it. Basically, multiply California's "why are you not paying your teachers more?" question by all the other jobs. And the answer is that the average wage and cost of living is lower here to begin with.

I live here and they call it the Montana tax. We make 20-30k less than if we had the equivalent job in any other state. "bEcAuSe tHe cOsT oF LiViNg iS sO LoW" which is a bunch of horseshit.

I always smile when I hear about that gator at the Wendy's. Happened at the Wendy's right down the street my parent's house, I actually worked at that Wendy's for a while. Quit after a kid fished out on the floor from dehydration/overheating after eating some beans. I told him that'd happen, and he told me I was stupid... welp, now I'm giving you water.

To me, the only way forward is to have different thoughts on solutions to problems that can be debated using facts and data to form policies that are most likely to allow society to not only survive but thrive into the future. But that requires people are united by facts, data, and logical argument. If people are united by national pride whether that pride comes from reality or false statements, that doesn't sound like a good unity to support.

Honestly the first thing I think of when raising the minimum wage is the effect that that will have on restaurants because of their small profit margins
Funny thing is... it isn’t that small. Grocery stores is actually way smaller. Same pay unless you work at a big store too
@@TheMetroidblade thank you for informing me of that I intend to go into culinary and everybody always tells me that it's small profit Martians so you have to be super careful about what you do And at last time they raised the minimum wage the profit margins for a lot of restaurants were too small for them to stay open so I had assumed it would have a similar effect But perhaps not I should Do some better research
@@Goat_boii well... it’s complicated. Most stores have contracts but work on cents per item. After all they are just pushing an item you can get any where else. Where as restaurants need much higher to stay afloat. Just something I’ve noticed working in both fields and food production

I wrote a several paragraph response breaking the numbers down based on my work at Wafflehouse and 6 other Food Service employments.. and then accidentally hit a thumbnail and lost it all. I might come back to write it again some time but the highlight summary could be something like this:
1. Food Cost with Waffle as an example: $0.25 for banmarie of waffle-batter yielded $195.20 without exaggeration given that the banmarie effectively yields a fair estimate of 64 sales at $3.05.
2. Worst case scenario marginal sale of waffle given $15/hr wage doubled to generously consider that one sale's possible marginal overhead still yielded an absolute minimum of capital (not just raw profit, actual all expenses and projection paid capital) of 50% above breaking even.
3. Even working one of the worst run wafflehouse units in the region, my absolute worst nights still turned an ROI of $240(profit counted from register start)/$132.50(labor "cost" of all staff for the shift) or 80% capital above breaking even (almost doubling the investment on the worst nights in the worst store where we wound up sitting around for hours because everything is done and there's that much delay between batches of customers)
4. Realistically it tended to be around $600/$132.50 or 353% capital above breaking even.
5. Studies have consistently shown that raising the minimum wage actually energizes the economy to the point of significantly improving profits.
6. Most importantly, and I can NOT stress this enough...
If you are responsible for an operation whose primary goal is to make a profit of the currency that allows survival as a reward for work, and you cannot so much as meet a basic standard of living for those carrying out your most essential duties YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS! The whole point of employment is a promise of survival. You do the work, you earn your keep. Beneath that is not just unfair or "disappointing", it's genuinely inhumane and a fundamental component of most poverty aside from systematic discrimination. Even gambling borne poverty has roots in an understanding that survival without debt is really only a chance given the employer weighted deal before you and I.
I have to say, if you made Chick Fil A the center of the minimum wage argument, and told conservatives it would affect their Jesus chicken in a positive way, more people would be on board.
As a conservative Christian, I have to disagree. I'm actually against raising the minimum wage because historically over the years it's created inflation of the dollar bill. This is not a good thing leading to making goods (groceries, appeal, etc.) more expensive and can lead to companies being unable to afford to hire more American people due to costs. California is actually one of the examples of experiencing inflation and having a higher minimum wage rate. There are older examples too throughout time where people mean well but it has hurt more than helped.
Inflation happens when you grow the economy and minimum wage is supposed to grow with it and it's not and that's the problem. Everything is getting more expensive but the value of the money people have is decreasing because their wages are staying the same
@@persassyjackson6924 However that is not everywhere. The interesting thing about America is that States are run differently. Not everywhere in the US has a high cost of living. To mandate on a national level for the increase in minimum wage will have different impacts on different places. I hope you guys are right and this will turn out for the better but only time will tell.

Minimum wage, for non on call, pre scheduled jobs, stays the same. Everyone else gets 1+1 for each following factor, times minimum wage;
On call work ( being asked or required to work, with less then 3 days notice, via a public schedule.)
Every certification the job requires, that, the government doesn't make it require.
Every week of training before starting
Every level of college degree required to start it.
Every year of experience required .
And, if the job isn't " at will" , and/ or, has any additional contacts, like a rider against specific harms, a non compete, or, if it has a non disclosure agreement.
The legal required maximum from this, for minimum wage for a position, is 12 times the minimum wage starting.
Anything above that is a required 15% annual pay increase, for each additional requirement beyond twelve, for each year worked, up to the " multiplier non capped number".
The metric is based on the most requirements listed for a job, via a job advertisement, opening, or application, for a position in a company, in the last 14 calendar months.

Loved it! Only thing is, that in texas chickfila lines are much longer than McDonald's lines.
That's everywhere. Other restaurants complain about lost revenue, Chick-fil-A sales are up. They already had the most efficient drive through and it is really paying off now. Even when the line is wrapped around the building they are faster than any other fast food restaurant in our area.
