Great video!!! Thanks for keeping the mistakes in. I’m doing the same thing on my 62 w/ a 283. This was super helpful!!!
No problem, glad I can help
I am currently going thorough this right now on my 66 Malibu on the 283 I am trying to achieve the stock appearance of all the brackets and pullies, and belts, , I am using a laser set up in the v-grooves to line up because I also want to run a 2 belt on the alternator like what you have, I literally have the same exact set you are doing in your video, "OH" currently that same 3 groove crank pully from Summit is now $58 bucks went up since you bought it, , what 2 years ago, any way I am glad I came across your video cause I am pulling my hair out, I want to make sure these belts are perfectly aligned in the pullies as you are doing, I will watch to the end to see how it turns out, Thank you for the video!!
Thanks for watching
Excellent video I need to do this project as well. Thank you very much! Love the details, so not too long. 👍
Thanks for watching, glad I can help
Love your videos man very good details shows all the headaches you go through working on cars. Got a small block Chevy I got to figure out a alternator bracket for. You gave me some good information on this. Thanks and keep em coming
Thanks, glad I can help
Thanks for the real install video. Problems and all!
No problem, glad I can help
Best video I’ve seen on RUclips about these brackets!!!
Thanks, I tried to show everything without making the video too long but still was kinda long
Bro! Awesome video helped me tons. Putting a pump on my 68 impala. Could not find a video I understood till yours. Thanks man
Ur welcome, I also couldn’t find a video that showed the steps and problems u run into but I also didn’t want to make it too long
Thanks , very good video ,had same problems
Your a real one have helped a lot in me building my 1960 bel air , stay up carnal
Thanks
I wish I found your video 3 weeks ago, I went through the same heck learning how to install mine too. I cut 5 threads off of the bolt, and re tapped it, Good to go, no washers now!
Yea it was a little stressful going back and forth to the parts store but I was determined to making it fit, I thought because I got it from classic industries it was going to fit like a glove with no problems but I think it’s like this with all aftermarket brackets
Great video. Glad you kept all the "mistakes." Thanks
Wanted to show what people watching my videos or looking to buying these brackets might run into
Looks like you have a Chevelle(?), 1966(?). If you think the sbc is a headache you should try this with a Ford! You'll want to pull the trigger on yourself! Welcome to the world of shade tree mechanics my friend. I did this very same same operation. You have to get some "parts store smarts", buy a few belts at one time, take back the ones you don't use!
It’s a 66 impala fastback, yea I felt kinda stupid that I didn’t just buy a couple instead of going back and forth,
Great video! Learning from this! Thanks!
Thanks for watching
In thanks for the video homie Life saver🙏🏾🌊
Happy to help
Great video! I’m try put power steering on my small block 400 and didn’t know how to go by doing it.. Thanks 👊🏾
No problem, thanks for watching
Thank you bro this video is clutch🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, glad I can help
I watched the entire video, Ty!
Thanks for ur support, it’s a bit long but I wanted to show the problems I ran into
I feel the pain dang pullys 🤣keep them videos kumn 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thanks, I was gonna make it work one way or another
😢
The power steering pump belt goes on the middle and the last groove on the crank pulley or without ac it goes on the last groove on the crank pulley. The alternator belt always goes on the first front groove on the wp pulley and the first groove on the crank pulley.
my power steering pump doesn't have a stud on the back for the bracket. Came out of a 87' square body and going on 350 sbc. Any suggestions on a bracket that would work?
Let's here this thing run lol fire it up 🔥
im editing a video of lowering it and at the end i start it up and let it idle
By flipping the lower power steering pump brackets you turn them upside down to use with a swp. Again that bracket works for both swp and lwp
The original mount that was on power steering pump should have bolted right up where you wanted it without the bling! Lol
I think I was missing a piece for the original brackets to work but it doesn’t look bad, would probably look better black
Like the video it shows the real world problems. Nosale 🙏🏾
Did you put thread sealer on them water pump bolts, I probably missed it if u did lol but they go through inside the block so need sealant on the threads or itll eventually seep out and leak through the bolt heads
no, i didn't bother because i have to replace the water pump again, i found a crack on it by one of the fittings and its sipping out
Thank you, I had no idea as well. I had all of the parts, but how do they assemble onto the front of the engine. And my alternator setup is exactly like what you showed yours as, at the beginning of the video. Thank you again.
No problems thanks for watching
I feel your pain with that taking everything apart multiple times. I'll be dealing with that soon. I might keep my wife's skinny little super flexible seamstress tape measure handy. Put everything where I want it. Measure how long I want the belt to be, and take that measurement to the auto store and get the belt that is closest to that measurement. I've gone through that before with a washing machine belt.@@cali530marcos3
If you were going to use washers you should of put them in front of the adjuster bracket because where you placed them you made the adjuster bracket move forward to much. You can see the bracket move forward when you moved the pump up and down. You should of cut the bolt. Those pulleys are bolt on not need for a puller or to heat the pulley to install it. I sell that bracket it's one of the less expensive brackets I sell about 35 dollars. It also works for a long water pump if you flip the lower brackets. Placing a washer behind the adjuster bracket helps the pump move up and down for belt tensioning. The alternator bracket you have from rpc is a low mount alternator bracket kit will only work without power steering.
Which alternator mount does he need? I need one also. Thanks
Thanks for the video, I know this is an older post. What kit did you use? Thanks
I got it from classic industries but it looks like the ones u can buy on eBay or Amazon, mine is for a short water pump
@@cali530marcos3 thanks
where did you get your spacer for the crankshaft pulley?
I got mine on summit racing, but u can also get them on Amazon, just look up Chevy crankshaft pulley spacer
Hey my guy what sizes belts did u use for this set up
Belt size 15348 from Autozone
Do you know of any ranch that’ll fit in there when the belt is on where you can tighten your power steering pump without taking the belt off
I’m sure u can get to it with a crows foot and some extensions or something, I just found it easier that way
@@cali530marcos3 Thank you I’ll look for one. I never heard of a Crowsfoot.
Where you located I need help with my 64 power steering
I stay in Sacramento, ca
How much do you spend for everything
With the power steering bracket and belt and fluid probably like $65
Do you remember the DURALAST # Alternator belt??
I think I showed the part # in the video, I tried 3 and the third one was the one
It’s 15550
@@cali530marcos3 Thank you very much. you have helped immensely.
Glad I can help
this guy Ain't worked on to many car's before looks like to me.
just cuz i left all the mistakes in the video doesn't mean i don't know how to work on cars, most of aftermarket parts u buy are going to have to be modified to some degree, i just wanted to show the problems and how i fixed them
I need a powersteering 350 chev
You can find them on eBay for a good price
Don't even know if it's a '65 Impala, seriously, I had a '60 Impala with an upside-down 45 record player back then.
Yea it was a shell when I first got it, it’s all put together now, u can see it on the other videos
The entire problem is that you don't have the power steering pump bracket setup for swp.
What’s you’re alt belt number ?….
What size crank pulley do u have 6inch or 7inch
If u have the 6 1/2 inch ulley it’s 15550
If u have the 7 3/8 inch pulley it’s 15555
Thanks bro .👍👍👍

lol. Watching this made my head hurt. I see the problem. I hope you got this figured out. You did alot 3 times when you didnt need too haha. We all do it man. It wasnt the brackets :) And that first PS belt you had on there would have been fine and still used your single groove alt pulley. I watched till the end. That works also but now you have three unused pully grooves on the crank, alt, and WP. It works tho. I have the same brackets and setup as you do on my 350 in my 64 Impala. down to the smaller 3 groove crank pulley.
Yea it was stressing me out but I figured it out, didn’t want to edit the mistakes out just in case someone was going threw threw the same thing, also thinking about switching to a LWP but not 100% sure yet
@@cali530marcos3 i just happened to notice you ran into the same exact issues as I did using a short WP on my 64. Its all the same. But I have 3 belts. I ran the ALT belt to the rear groove on the WP pulley only (single groove alt pulley)... a belt from the outer groove of WP around the middle groove on crank..then the PS belt how you have it on the outer crank pulley groove. So nothing going to the very rear groove on the crank....With 3 belts they was shorter..cheaper and out of the way and they aren't sharing belts if one breaks ill have two working still.. it was just easier for me. Looks like you could have done that also maybe. I prefer how the short water pump looks. Im using a clutch fan and OG shroud with an aluminum 3 core rad
