These are my favorite kind of videos. What about forgotten brands. MDCI has great highly curated assortment fragrances done to very high standards, and they are never watered down. Expensive but I always feel I’ve got my money’s worth.
Yep I have full bottles of Invasion Barbare and Chypre Palatin, and have Ambre Topkapi, Bleu Satin, and Le Barbier de Tanger on my to-buy list.
I like the brand but only have one from the brand. I should dig into them further. :)
That's a great house. Other than Chypre Palatin, there's Cuir Garamante, Invasion Barbare, L'Elegant et al. Agreed - all high quality
Great idea and so interesting. Thanks Sebastian!
I have so many fragrances, so I started to try and organize them. I like how Fragrantica will say whether a fragrance is best for which season, and day or night, so I have 8 shelves now. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall, and then Winter Day, Winter Evening, Spring Day, Spring evening, Summer day, etc. etc. so now it is 8 separate shelves. Does anyone else do this? It is sooo much easier for me this way because now that is it Summer, I know all I have to do is reach for the Summer/Day shelf to pick from that day. To be honest, I have 9 shelves though. I have an extra shelf for my after bath/go to sleep scents too. If I had all the perfumes that Sebastian has I would be soooo confused!!! haha. I live in Pennsylvania though and we have 4 distinct seasons. This may not work for someone in California. I love heavy dark musks and patchoulis and animalics and I absolutely can't wear them here in the Summer so I have to keep them separate. If you have a special way of organizing your fragrances, maybe you could do a video on that one day! Tiffany xoxox
I love videos like this. Keep up with these classic gems videos!
Very good professor 🎉🎉🎉
I like this video Seb. Yeah, let's honor back the "forgottens". My forgotten fragrance would be Cuir Velours by Naomi Goodsir. I do like this perfume, it's just that I live in the tropics so it's hard for me to find a perfect cool weather for these notes. / The only Absinthe perfume I know is by Nasomatto so I have no comparison to make.
Oh my gold man !! So good and classy . A true masterpiece
Thanks for this video . I love many of these . ❤
Great concept for this video! ❤
Great video and I enjoyed it and I like Amouage Gold Man and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed day
Omg goza love the notes
Thank you Sebastian for this video, i love the list 🙌🏼
I love this theme of video. I love to discover fragrances no one is talking about. I need to try the Patchouli Nino as I love gourmand patchouli. Thanks Sebastian.
This video is great, we missing so many great perfumes👏👍
Oh you’ve forgotten about Issara? I have been rocking it this summer! My favorite from this house along with La Sillage Blanc. Love this theme ❤❤❤
I'm obsessed with Duel by Goutal and NO ONE ever talks about it. It's such a beautiful, green, sweet, GAIAC. Love it when you take us back into the archive, Seb! There's a time and a place for xyz-sparkly-new-oud-gourmand-ambroxan-niche houses but we rarely get the time to worship at the altar of the OG classic niche innovators! Annick Goutal! Jo Malone! Serge Lutens! Lorenzo Villoresi! Thanks, friend!
Love this❤❤❤❤Thanks❤❤❤
Another fantastic video Sebastian. I found a bottle of Estee Lauder Intuition for men recently at the back of a cupboard and it is a great fragrance. Sweet, light and unlike anything else I've ever smelled.
Wow, I have never heard of most of these fragrances. Heck, I haven't even heard of a lot of these brands. That Rania J Ambre Loup sounds really fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Will try Gold Man and Santal des Indes, Ambre Loup is on my list and I was going to get it this month but I found a pretty good deal on fragrance Du Bois Sahraa so it's going to have to wait a little longer. Of course I have forgotten fragrances even worst forgotten samples! 😱😆One of the forgotten ones that I love HoO Cypress Shade, so underrated and so good! Thanks for the video Sebastian!!!
Cool topic for a post, thank you! My forgotten fragrance; Ferré by Ferré in the grenade bottle. It would have had a spot in your video on aldehydes too!
Love this and please start a new series of videos with this theme. Thanks Sebastian. I need to check Gold Man. You make sound so good even if it's for men.
I love this channel 💛
Thanks Sebastian, there are so many great fragrances in your list. I have many of these but I was wondering if getting Nino Patchouli would overkill, I love Patch. And own Obvious,Javoy Psychedelique & my favorite Profumo Roma? Cheers Brutha 😎
Wonderful 🎉🎉🎉
I LOVE Oud Save the King. So beautiful and smooth, a love at first sniff for me as well. The projection is lacking for me, but on both my skin and clothing it stays all day. Such a comforting scent for me. I think those who love Gris Charnel and enjoy a softer oud will like it a lot 😊
Santa Maria Novella's Patchouli is AMAZING!!!!! it's earthy/minty at the beggining, then it gets earthy/herbal and the drydown is mostly herbal but it still has some of the initial momentum of earthyness/mintyness from the begining, i love it
I love the different company perfumes👍
I have Amouage Silver and Ciel. I have to be in the mood for these, but do enjoy them.
I’ve been on a Clarins Eau Dynamisante kick this year! ✨
Oh, I do love Sel de Vetiver. I should definitely get a back-up bottle. Another wonderful classic by The Different Company is Oud Shamash.
By Goutal, I especially like Encens Flamboyant.
Another great title! Waiting for more surprises😊!
More to come!
Love fall into stars , Narcissus os great mixed with oud
Really enjoyed this video. The profiles of these "forgotten fragrances" all seem, to me, to tend "classic," quite distinguished, mature. I tend away from anything with vanilla (which makes filtering easier) and towards anything with guaic, incense, oakmoss, geranium, vetiver (wild about vetiver), myrrh, tea, sometimes lavender (depending on what it's blended with), also intrigued by aldehydes. And spices, yes (cardamom!). Of course, one always--well, not always, but frequently, wants something citrusy to kick it off, when it's right for the fragrance. And then too there's...budget! After this video I'm VERY interested in the Santa Maria Novella Melograno and I've e-mailed myself the Lucky Scent page for it, with a note: "Buy in cold weather for next summer." That means, have it sent to my Texas address when it's not 112 degrees outside (!) so I can use it next summer. My Christmas present to me. 🙂 From Poland, greetings.
Finally! Someone talks about Santa Maria Novella! I have Firenze. As always, great video! Thank you so much for sharing!
SMN are great. Check out my tour video of their original pharmacy in Florence.
ruclips.net/video/V14tWVTxBVc/видео.html
And a Top 5 video of the brand here: ruclips.net/video/Lt47jpCVZ-4/видео.html
Issara is one of my top 5 fragrances of all time. I love it. Also! Will you review the new Penhaligon's range?
I love Sel de Vetiver. My husband wore it for years.
Im going to have to go back to Florence. I absolutely loved that city.
Coze is actually quite good. And of course, Pleasures really is a lovely aromatic fruity scent. Part of me is convinced there are aldehydes in there too. Not as spicy as you'd expect with the spices listed in the mid, but the lingering scent in a room after it's been sprayed is a bit addictive. 😄 I have that same feeling about Lempicka's Homme and Green Lover. For a designer brand, man does Lempicka do vanilla right.
Ive got a decant of Amouage Gold Man. The problem for me is the civet. Civet renders a scent skanky when dominant, and to me its dominant in Gold Man. Im smelling it on card right now. Eyeewoooo.
The Atkinson's I like so far are 21 Burlington Arcade, 41 Old Bond St.,
and Posh on the Green. I need to try Oud Save the King.
Really like Sel de Vetiver and Ambre Loup
I love the Santa Maria Novella colognes. Also Amouage gold was my all time favourite.
Great! Check out this SMN tour video. ruclips.net/video/V14tWVTxBVc/видео.html
Oud save the King is a great choice, for me very classy. One of the strongest and most long lasting scents I have.
I had to get a Gold Man backup because I was afraid it would disappear! I have so many of these. These come from my high buy years. My favourite Pierre Guillaume fragrance is Psychotrope it’s a fresh, almost green, uplifting jasmine. It’s hard sometimes to listen to those favourites begging to be worn again. Thanks for the reminders.
I don't know Psychotrope sadly. So must check! :)
The Amouage Gold Man sounds perfectly intoxicating. I'm crazy about my sample-sized vials of Beach Hut Man and Jubilation XXV. When I retire and break into my nest egg I'll treat myself to a full bottle of something Amouage. OR...a full bottle of either Tauer's Incense Rose (supposedly for women, but I love it) or Au Coeur Du Désert. All fantastic fragrances.
Gold Man is one of my favorites. Just bought a new bottle a few weeks back. It is kind of like a mix between Habit Rouge and Balenciaga Pour Homme. I love love love Gold Man. I have forgotten about Gold Woman, and kind of what to smell that.
edit: and I still love Indian Sandalwood. That’s one I picked up a decant on your recommendation and it is a fantastic fragrance.
I smelled Amouage Gold Man yesterday. What an amazing scent. Put a small sprat on my hand and it lasted for so long. Def on my radar
Thanks for sharing!
My favorite from The Different Co. was Rose Poivre
Ambre Loup = 🔥 One of the absolute best. Silver cap is superior!
Nice buzz cut skin fade 💇♂️.
Fall into stars is a wonderful fragrance and garners many compliments 😊
My Barbara does some interesting things to my hair, which looks pretty good!! 😀
@@ThePerfumeGuy Its a very popular look/style here in Ireland 🇮🇪
Oh cool, I really like this cut. Thanks for noticing it! :)
@11:00 Melograno by SMN is a fragrance immortalized by "Casino Royale," arguably the very best James Bond movie. The character Vesper (Eva Green) uses that fragrance. A bottle can be seen among her belongings near the end of the movie.
Oh I'll have to rewatch that movie to see.
Great as usual. Why don't you have any reviews, as far as I know, about Loewe perfumes?
You'll find them here:
www.youtube.com/@ThePerfumeGuy/search?query=loewe
But the brand is not found here where I live.
I know the Different Company fragrances. My favorite from them is Santo Incienso. It's a smoky palo santo forward fragrance.
I love Rania J's Ambre Loup. It's definitely the standout from the house for me.
Atkinson's Oud Save The King is good but my favorite from Atkinson's is The Big Bad Cedar.
I know many from Perris Monte Carlo but my personal favorite is Cedro Di Diamante.
I won your giveaway for a full bottle from Atelier Oblique and chose Saint. They sent me a sample of Moon Sigh with my bottle but those are the only two I've smelled. Bohemian Woods sounds great, though. I hope a boutique in my city decides to start selling the brand so I can smell then other offerings from the house because I really love Saint and Moon Sigh.
As we spoke about when we met at Eitket, I'm not a huge fan of Amouage's offerings though I have smelled them all.
Unfortunately, I've never smelled anything else on this list as there aren't any boutiques with those brands.
Has Sebastian done a video on the Hermessence collection?
I don't own many in fact only 2 so no video on the line sadly.
absolutely adore sel de vetiver but has it been discontinued? it’s been out of stock on luckyscent for ages
Wow, the world of fragrance is vast. Of these, I'm only familiar with Oud Save The King. The rest, even a lot of the brands, I've never heard of.
Oh wow.
Check out Eisenberg Palissandre Noir for a great creamy sandalwood fragrance with prominent vanilla, rose and spices.
Hello! What is the longevity and projection of oud save the king? Thank you
Fall Into Stars is a masterpiece oud fragrance imo. I just wish I could afford a bigger bottle. I only own the 15ml so I have to use it sparingly.
I have a bottle of Sel de Vetiver and it's taking me a long time to finish it (there's a third left). It's not that I hate it, I just feel that the saltiness is a little bit too much that I pick other bottles first.
Interested in ordering the sampleset of Atl. Oblique 🌹
Oh cool house totally underrated
I've received my discovery set, wow they have so many beautiful fragrances! 🌹
In the Netherlands you can buy Atkinson
Great.
Santal Des Indes and Ambre Loup ❤️
Both good ones! :)
What would be a good replacement for Douce Amere? Serge Lutens makes a new DA, but it smells nothing like the original. HELP!
Coze is excellent
It’s quite good!!
They need to bring Globe by Rochas
Sydney Rock Pool by Aquatist
As a fellow west coaster, I'm terrified that you're in SF and have your entire collection on shelves without doors or anything. You're one bad earthquake away from starting over!
Hanae Mori him edp
If you're in the UK, Fenwicks currently have an offer of a free Atkinsons sample box (12 × 2ml samples) with any Atkinsons 100ml bottle purchased.
I'm only in London for 1 day before my flight to Italy and then on way back only half a day so not much time. But I want to come back to the UK again sometime soon as I love it there.
I’m in London for the next two weeks. Thank you for this tip. I’ll be sure to check this out!
Just had a quick check, and it may be an online only offer... sorry if that spoils things 😢
Possibly the start of a new series? 🙏🙏🙏
yes new series here we come!! I've got one more cooking but after that several months later! :)
Amouage Gold was created by Guy Robert. Not sure about the male version.
The more I watch you, the more l want everything!
I’m sorry but sometimes that happens. 😀
I recently purchased Pleasures and it indeeds still smells fire like it did when it came out.
I also purchased Escape by Calvin Klein and it smells exactly like it did when it came out and still strong.
I purchased Euphoria, by Calvin Klein and it smells terrible now! It was a top 10 designer classic for me but the reformation is terrible.
Oh no re Euphoria. Bummer.
Been trying to find sel de vetivier since you posted this video but it seems it has been discontinued:(
Oh no.
Hi @ThePerfumeGuy. I'm looking for a fragrance that epitomizes purity and innocence that is extremely feminine and clean. Do you have any suggestions?
Soap🧼
The Perfume Guy is the expert, he did videos on clean scents. What first comes to my mind is Byredo Blanche. Like angels’ laundry, with delicate white flowers. By Goutal there’s Petite Chérie, delicate with pear… Less soapy. But longevity is subpar. Yes I do, État libre d’orange… So many great ones!
RIP. Barneys😢
Yeah bummer
👍
👍👍👍👍👍
I loved A Different Company fragrances and still own plenty of them. There are too many new perfume houses and it seems like everyone wants to get into creating new perfumes. However, in my opinion, there are all ready too many perfume houses. I do like the Strangelove brand, although they are extremely expensive. I have a tiny little bottle of Falling Stars and also the same tiny bottle size for Melt My Heart.
The old Amouage perfumes were the best.
Santa Maria Novella is the most beautiful perfume house in all of Italy. Melograno is one of their best but Gelsomino and their new Iris fragrance are also wonderful,
I also heard that their Tobacco fragrance is also awesome.
Issara from Dusita is one of their best fragrances in my humble opinion, and I still have a bottle of it.
Sebastian, I apologize for over commenting. This was really a good video and topic. Sometimes we are more interested in what is new and forget about all the good fragrances most of us already own. I, for one, have a huge collection of fragrances, which I will never live long enough to use up. However, I have been trying my best to use what I already have and not buy much of any new offerings. Thanks for this much needed and useful video!
Did you know that Olivier Pescheux is dead?
The question is did you know Olivier Pescheux is dead? ruclips.net/video/-i-n4LUloKQ/видео.html
Gold Man is the Signatur Scent of Putin
I agree that @Sel de Vetiver@ is one of the best summer fragrance! Amouage' Gold is kinda firework fragrance and I think it's hard to name it under-hyped) Ambre Loup is very good too. Goutal has another remarkable smell @ambre fetish@ and I like it
Hi Sebastian, my friends and I all watch your videos together and do a shot every time you say “and things like that”. After the video when we are all buzzed, we each order sample of the scents we are interested in from your video 😁❤️
Hermes ROCABAR (original formulation) must be put on the market again 🧡🤎💚💙❤
I wore it in 1997 or 1998 somewhere around there maybe even 1999 I don’t remember when it first came out I haven’t looked it up but it was brand new on the market. It came with a little cloth rag that was wrapped around the bottle.
@@ThePerfumeGuy Yes, I still have a couple of that cloth, which actually reproduced the typical desert striped blanket (striped blanket is roc à bar, in french), but I miss the original perfume (on ebay its price is insane)
