Bentley Absolute is almost identical to Papyrus Oud. I have been through decants of both and I seriously can’t tell a difference. I’ve given Bentley Absolute to two nephews now 😊
I found 401 by Bon Parfumeur an inexpensive alternative to Plum Japonais. It's not the same, a bit harsher, but still very good. Also, Arabesque by The Merchant of Venice, though it's more tobacco-leaning.
For the discontinued Mugler pure havane, I found Evasion Digo de Havane from L'Arc a good replacement. Actually I am using the latter to spare my Mugler one 😊

I am desperately searching for a replacement for Guerlain French Kiss. Rose Cherie is not the same as French Kiss, too rose musky, it’s lacking the raspberry fizz and ethereal powdery (not gramdma powdery) 😢

I was disappointed that Van Cleef & Arpels discontinued Midnight in Paris so soon, as it is a great fragrance that lasts on me for 8+ hours, however Prada Luna Rossa Black is an excellent alternative. Both fragrances to me are superb powdery deep fragrances.
My favourite discontinued fragrance is Gourmand Coquin. I'm happy that it's coming back later on this year, repackaged and with a new name. I hope Guerlain does the same with Chypre Fatal.
I wanted to go for athena - smokey plum but 65$ + shipping + custom release it goes over 100€ which i do not i would give for a clone house. I tried alexandria forbidden plum and it is fantastic. I would not say it is a clone but it is heavily inspired and imo it is overall better fragrance than plum japonais. I do not detect any oud in forbidden plum and it is making it easier to wear.
I loved Ralph Lauren Romance Silver. This has been discontinued sadly. My bottle went bad. YSL L’Homme Ultime is a great alternative. Sadly this one might be discontinued as well.
The problem with ysl pour home is edt , so i prefer to use it in home than outdoor, now it is very rare and sold under (la collection pour home) half black half clear.
I use to own hockey puck Bulgari black in 2012. I bought it's off fragrancenet. I wasn't my favorite but I wore it to finish it. Then in 2018 I was working at new job. Coworker passes by me and I can smell it. I said u wearing Bulgari black. He replied no it's prada black. I have to buy bottle of prada black. It's wonderful now. Def need backup bottle. Can't trust prada
Oh my goodness, thank you for the Minotaure alternative, I've been missing that vintage scent so much! I did get a more recent batch and as you said it's just as bad as Creed... Minotaure was actually my first "real" fragrance outside of the typical high school guy stuff, haha. It's got a lot of nostalgic value to me. :)
Prada Luna Rossa Black has some similarity with The Body Shop's White Musk for Men. The latter is discontinued, but there is a newer and very similar "Blue Musk EDT"
Excellent topic. I was one who was very sad about Sunsong. All of your tips in the past have been spot on. In terms of DHP, I am convinced people fight with you just to be contrarians. Maybe Pompelmo from Laboratorio Olfattivo but not identical. Even though Pompelmo doesn't have cannabis the vetiver in it is acting like cannabis to me against the grapefruit.

please keep smelling it test your nose then smell it on someone else who is wearing it and smell it on yourself too. Best way to start smelling it is to train your nose! That's all the advice I can offer and hopefully you can start smelling it! :)

I wore Rush and Envy for years, IMO Tom Ford’s creations for Gucci are some of his best. The closest I’ve found to Rush is the dry down of Byredo Gypsy Water albeit much softer and closer to the skin.

I find Byredo Sundazed to be similar to Louis Vuitton Sun Song. Louis Vuitton On the Beach, feels in the same family as well.

The Boadicea is almost identical. I have two bottles of DHP, so I won’t be buying the Boadicea, but it is a perfect substitute despite the price.

DHP shows up on the Swiss website sometimes.
When I sampled Apex it immediately reminded me of z14
Tom ford noir and Prada Lhomme intense are favourites but i haven't found alternatives yet.

How about Lancôme Balafre? Had it back in the 70s but seems to be discontinued now. BTW I too used Halston Z14 when I came to the US in the early 80s.
