I think it would’ve been best to do a swap out with a new engine. I may get a new Cummins long block for 10,000 or a little under being self installed. It’s the best thing to do when doing a schoolie since a lot of money is going into it. You can get financing for a new engine and installation. Regardless you guys got to do what you got to do. Good luck with a van, from my own experience it’s hard. I wish you the best for you two, even though I’m sad but I’m looking forward to keep seeing your videos. I really hope to see you guys in person on the road in a few years when I get a bus. Cheers my friends!
I have a shorty, I orginally wanted to buy a promaster and build it out but I ended up with a short bus due cost, but now I'm afraid to take any huge trips because she's an old bus, if I could have afforded it I would have done a van too. Good luck on your build. I'm excited to see what you do with it
So sorry you went through so much, the van will be a better fit in my opinion. Don't feel bad you had a lot of adventures in the bus. Don't be hard on yourselves Cause you accomplished so much I have tremendous respect for you guys. Best wishes Jimmy and Natalie your gonna be fine, you deserve less headaches
Smartest move you can make. Nothing is worse than being stressed out because you have an old vehicle that’s bound to crap out on you at any point in time. Older vehicles will nickel and dime you to death. From the beginning I thought you should’ve gotten rid of that thing. You two are out to enjoy yourself not worry all the time. The van is a perfect choice
Stop stessing about what other people want! If van life is what you want to pursue, then go for it! You two are very intelligent adults with great ideas and now the experience to back up your thoughts and plans. Hubby and I constantly say "on the next bus, we'll...". It's an incredibly hard decision to make, so good on you for recognizing and cutting yourselves off when the bus money ran out. That's very hard to commit to, so good on ya! To be honest, I was afraid you two were stuck in Yellowstone! When there wasn't a video on Monday, I started getting worried and kept checking RUclips to make sure you were ok! Funny how you get into routine with watching some of your favourite bus people! But, I am glad you're safe, and I can't wait to see more build videos (even though I had secretly hoped to run into you in Banff since we are headed there in a couple weeks 😂)!
No criticism, no judgement! Those of us that watch you, are in it for your adventure. Your story is the attraction, and the best stories have twists and turns. I think most of us are attracted to these channels and lifestyles, and that lifestyle includes scoolies, vans, rv’s, SUV’s, and even cars. Heck, I follow a few folks who have decided to purchase land and settle down too. The enjoyment is watching the adventure.
Hey, LOTS of RV RUclipsrs switch up their RVing styles multiple times, going big to small and back again, drivable, drivable with a toad, towable, even a pick-up truck with a tent on top. It's fun watching everyone learn by living & doing. And then we get to hear about pros & cons, likes & dislikes. It's all good! And as I watch and learn from everyone I'll become an RVing know-it-all even before I get my first one. - Keep having fun living and learning together!
Doesn't matter if you're in a bus or a van. It's the two of you that make your videos fun to watch. I love how positive you are, and it's exciting to see all the places you're visiting. I'm living vicariously through you. Keep cranking out that content. I'm excited to follow you through your next build!
Get rid of the money gobbler. It costs more to fuel a skoolie. You'll be able to get into places with a smaller vehicle. You made a mature decision! Smart move! You are closing the Skoolie chapter and starting a new van-life chapter! Life is full of chapters, so keep going! Enjoy life! Thank you for sharing!
Hey there. LISTEN....if, anyone ever says anything negative about what your decisions are, then there's no need to listen to them. Your life, your choice...no one else's. Sure we want the best for you and the good stuff you provide your viewers, but that will never supercede what goes on in your lives. I mean, it's fun to pick on Jimmy, but not cool to question what your choices have been, are deciding, or will be in the future. So, I'll still follow, I'll still josh Jimmy, and I'll always end with a thank you! Because anything less than a thank you for taking us along for the ride IS disingenuous. Good luck, see you soon, and stay safe
Dear Jimmy & Natalie, I think that most of us follow you because of who you are, like your enthusiasm, and positive vibes, not because you own a skoolie (although you made an amazing one 😊). I am looking forward to seeing your future adventures! Good luck with the build of your van. Keep up the great job!
Have y'all considered a *true* short bus (van cutaway chassis)? Edit: All the perks of a van with a higher GVWR (and presumably upgraded suspension, braking power, and drivetrain). Higher weight rating and slightly wider so you can build it like you'd build a bus but drive and park like a hightop van! Fuel savings are probably a split between both vehicle types.
Sounds like good decision making! I'm a retired fire Captain from midland Texas! When your the first Captain on scene and make the decision how to fight a fire you set the tactics and plan and start the firefight! A smart Captain recognizes when the original plan conditions have changed and are no longer tenable! I salute and commend yalls decision making! Proud of you both! so enjoy your videos!
You both are young adventurous and so very creative. Oh my gosh! Life happens so fast! What a great new adventure. Keep moving forward. Have no regrets.😊
I appreciate your pragmatism... identifying a problem, coming up with a solution, and not compromising your goals. I am a full-time nomad and I totally understand your predicament because I've had to face budget difficulties. Sometimes you have to analyze and regroup. I wish you all the best and look forward to your continued adventure, no matter what you're driving.
You do what’s right for the two of you. Don’t ever apologize for your decisions and if people leave ugly comments hit delete and move on. Life is so short so enjoy your next adventure your way!
You guys spent so much time and money on building the bus, down to all the thoughtful designs choices. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision. I feel like you two are more about the adventures these days (rightfully so) and you both need the freedom away from the shackles of the bus. I think you both will like a smaller space. Natalie you are so sweet to worry about what we think but truthfully we are full of it half the time lol. Take what we say with a grain of salt.
I think it will be so hard for you to say goodbye to your Skoolie, but the fact that you are still going to be filming your video's while doing your van make over is going to be fun to watch. I think you have made the right choice. Take Care, Hugs UK
I have always thought that a shower is such a "waste of space" as you only use it for 10 minutes a day. I love what you did with your roll out natures head. I have always thought that another "waste of space" situation could be solved by incorporated into the shower space, a roll out fridge. It would roll out into the dinette or bed space when showering and roll back in when done. A good solar powered fan assisted venting system, like what is used in the natures head, built in, would help keep the area dry while assisting in keeping the fridge vented/cooled. Just something to ponder for your van build. Love you guys. Keep it up.
I think a van build is a great idea you guys have my vote not that you need my vote I'm a parent of a child in your age range so I encourage you guys to do something like this. Praying 🙏
Why on earth would anyone give you negative feedback on such a personal decision? It was your bus, it will be your van, it is your hard work, your money, and for sure your decision. I, for one, will continue to follow you - no matter what you do. If anyone is capable of having a dream and working to follow it, I say, more power to them, and thus, more power to you both. Wishing you good health,, love, and enough good spirits to live your lives as best you can.🤩
At the opposite end of life (recent retirees), my wife & I built out a Promaster 136" High Roof and absolutely love it. We went really minimal inside (no indoor plumbing or cooking), but you will also see ones with everything including the kitchen sink inside. There are many decisions to make on what is worthwhile to have in the limited van space. We also love being able to park in a normal parking space. So, ENJOY!! We had a blast building it (basically 1 year on weekends) and have loved our 4+ years traveling in it. I'm sure you will love it as well. Go Tigers!
I am glad money is not ending the journey; that its just reconfiguring the pack horse used. So excited to keep watching and see the new adventure! Whatever van you get, youll have to paint it green and name it a smaller cactusy name! lol
I only see 🌞 & 🌈 in your future. You've made a very important decision & I think it's great. You'll be able to save even more money = diesel to gas. I'm sure you'll do great with your new adventure & wish you the very best. 🤩💥

I think you guys are making a great call. We follow your channel not because we're schoolies, in fact we have a 21-ft Geo pro travel. But we follow you because you're fun and exciting. I watched you two build the bus, and for sure will watch you build this one too, it’s going to be great, fun and new designs and decision’s,I will stay with you all the way, good luck and best of health and stay happy and take care of each other, 🤗👍
I am glad your not giving up your traveling life. Your very smart to go to a van. With the price of fuel right now it's a smart move. Can't wait to watch your new build videos and your upcoming trips.

You are 100% doing the right thing…..as long as you have a van where you can stand up you will be great…I can’t wait to see the build that is part of the fun for us..honestly I would follow you even if you lived in a dump truck …You guys make the channel….you love each other and you love the road…that’s enough for us…..add on the fact that your charming and entertaining and you have the whole package…..I can’t wait till Monday…😁
Sad to see the skoolie go. You did some great things in that bus but I bet you will love the van just as much if not more. Being more mobile is a huge bonus and I can't wait to see the new build. Good luck.
Get a high roof Spinter van, extended. You'll have enough room for everything including a shower. Good luck. Hope to see your adventure on the new build.
Don't listen to anything or anyone other than your hearts. It's your life and your journey and we are just the audience who cheer you on. Personally the built was my favourite part
I think that you are making good choices. Unless a person has lots of mechanical experience and tools, maintaining a used bus can be VERY expensive. While I have loved watching you learn and grow, I feel that a large van will be a much better fit for you. Your adventures outside the bus are so fun to watch. A van will give you even more access to awesome places to explore. Keep going, keep growing. We love following you.

famous last words lol,
just found your channel and I love it.

This is one of the best schoolie designs for me, but I'm happy that you'll do a van conversion 😊
A van is a great idea! We bought a shuttle bus. Still building. Can’t wait to see your next journey🙏🏼❤️
Congratulations you two!!

We wish you the best of luck and we will still be following along on your adventures. Take care!!
You'll love the driving dynamics of a van. Your bus has some great space though. It's nice that you caught your time with the bus on video.
I watched you two build the bus, and for sure will watch you build this one too, it’s going to be great, fun and new designs and decision’s,I will stay with you all the way, good luck and best of health and stay happy and take care of each other, 🤗👍

Glad you guys are safe! There is always another Bus/Van/Camper... & another day.
I am glad your not giving up your traveling life. Your very smart to go to a van. With the price of fuel right now it's a smart move. Can't wait to watch your new build videos and your upcoming trips.
Hi - on "CheapRVLiving" there is this couple being interviewed by this guy named Ryan. They are David and Meehae and thuy have a stunning sprinter van that I just love. the lonely thing i would do differently from them is raise the back roof just a little. You'll see why I say that once you watch the video. Again, all the best, looking forward to watching you convert the van.
Y’all gonna be alright! You have each other, your youth, your health, and great attitudes. 😄
That IS everything.
Can you tell me what transmission you have in your bus? Thx!
New beginnings. The best of luck with your new adventure. Thank you.
Awesome news…. ❤️❤️❤️
I think the van is a great idea. You will be able to park anywhere and be more stealth if you want to be.
Awe, how exciting! A new chapter! I can’t wait to see the build videos!
Don’t forget with your life style go 4x4 , good luck for yours news adventures and the building 👍🏻
Sad to see the skoolie go. You did some great things in that bus but I bet you will love the van just as much if not more. Being more mobile is a huge bonus and I can't wait to see the new build. Good luck.
I agree with others, a van conversion is the best way to go, get a tent / awning to go on the side , that will
Give you plenty of room .
Get a high roof Spinter van, extended. You'll have enough room for everything including a shower. Good luck. Hope to see your adventure on the new build.
I love your videos!!! A bus a van… can’t wait to keep watching.
Don't listen to anything or anyone other than your hearts. It's your life and your journey and we are just the audience who cheer you on. Personally the built was my favourite part
