I bought a new 2020 Promaster 2500 159" highroof in '20, have 3500 miles on it. You'll love yours, tight turning radius good fuel milage, low floor height. Keep fresh oil in the engine every 3500 miles and fresh Trans fluid in the Trans every 15 or 20k miles and she'll last you a long time. Spray the undercarriage with Woodwax or fluid film to prohibit rust.
The ride will improve when you put some weight in it. And the echo-ey tin can sound when you close the doors will become a solid thunk once you put in some sound deadening on all that exposed metal. The ProMaster is great and only gets better as you build it out. Enjoy!!
Great videos as always you two. Two things you need to do before you hit the road long term. 1. Install a large Hayden transmission oil cooler. Those transmissions do not like heat. 2. Spray/have sprayed undercarriage a product called "Fluid Film". It will halt or slow down corrosion. Sprinters, transits, Promasters, Mercedes alike have little to no zinc protection. They know these are work trucks and expected life of about five service years. Gods speed on your voyages. Hope one day we see you with our bus in 2023. John 60107 USA.
We are so glad that you found your new van. My wife and I have been married for 32 years and have been together for 38 years. We really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. Stay safe and we are rooting for you both.
Sure will be easier to get around in this van. Similar to a bus, good sized mirrors helps a bunch. On my van and pickup, *had* , (vehicles are gone now), the longer vertical mirrors, with convex stick on mirrors.
Feh on the bus, it's just going to be great watching you two light up as you adventure together! However you do that, thanks for bringing us along. I'm actually feeling better at this choice due to the impossible cost of diesel right now. Also after seeing the bed test so many times, I'm glad I'm a fairly short guy! Can't wait to see how the build goes and turns out!
You kids are very fortunate. My wife and I have been camping, backpacking, and now travel trailer owners. We might be going to a class B+ in our future (I hope) . Good luck to the both of you. BTW, Just do it on your tying the knot. It is a great institution. We have been married for 48 years and still love each other. I know we enjoy the love of the outdoors, camping and meeting interesting people like your selves.
Not sure how or why your video appeared on my RUclips screen but congrats on the purchase. I'm surprised you ended up here in California as our state is not known for car deals as I would imagine destination charges, taxes and DMV fees are probably among the highest. I'm assuming your going to do a van build so check out all the cool ideas recently posted on RUclips.
Congratulations on the new van - great choice! I have a 2021 Promaster 3500 high roof, long wheelbase and love it! Drives really well and fits in a regular parking space which are big pluses. Looking forward to seeing the buildout.
I'm glad to hear you like your Promaster! 😄 We were a little nervous about it but honestly all 3 of the big makes seem to have their own pros and cons. (And honestly after a year of only driving a 25 y/o school bus, I'm sure we'll LOVE it 😊)
My dad and I did research for about seven years before we finally decided to buy vans and we are so grateful that we did. Mainly it’s a little cheaper on gas. But over all we are very happy with them both
Congradulations of the purchase of the van and your new home. I hope the build works out, I know I see the wheels spinning and ideas for how you are going to set it up to the way you want it and it be comfortable for you. I look forward for the ride. Later! and as always "Enjoy the Adventure." 🤠👍✌
Right on, Youngsters! I think you will find the very rectangular body, straight vertical walls and great width a bonus for building plus overall finished comfort.
You guys have grown so much since the start of this adventure, and your videos too, your storytelling is amazing! Nothing but but positive vibes to you guys, can’t wait for all the build episodes🤟
I try to always pack some plastic eating utensils in a carry on just in case a carry out or automatic machine food order doesn't come with anything. (napkins too).
Congratulations! I think you made a good choice., those rear windows are a must IMO. That Pentastar engine is proven reliable and the easiest to maintain. DIY oil changes are a breeze. Stay away from the Mercedes diesel unless you have money to burn and like 500 dollar oil changes. Hope you got both key fobs, those can be quite pricey. Good luck with the build. Nice to not have to worry about making it to the next destination. You will want to drain and refill the transmission fluid at about 50-60k. I wouldn't recommend towing much of anything for any distance without being able to monitor transmission fluid temp. Lots of videos out there about how to do that if you need to. And don't hang a bunch of stuff off the hitch without reinforcing it. Have fun!
Congratulations guys! I think it’s a good move for you. The bus is cool but sometimes you have to let go of things that just costs to much to keep running.
Congratulations on your new adventure guys, looks great, you two have so much common sense when buying your new van, IAM anxious to watch your new build,
im going with the transit. yes its not as BIG at the promaster. but it has better engine ... it comes in gas. so it wont be a cost an arm and leg to fix. or find place to fix it. and it also comes in 4wheel drive too now...but im glad you going van route. yes schoolies are bigger .. but their maintence nightmare .. noww i cant wait to see the layout you come up with... mines original.. its not like the token 3 layouts.. i took the 3 best things from each one.. and made a new layout.. 1000%% you guys rock!! keep up the amazing work
How awesome is that 👏! Happened to see 👀 and Ohmygoodness the bus was amazing, can't wait for this one! Good job and raisins means it's healthy lol. Happy trail's 😊
I’m so so so so happy for you guys. You’re glowing in your amazing new purchase!!! Can’t wait for the build series and I can’t wait for you guys to be done ur second build before we’re done our first LOL 😂💙
Haha you guys are the best!! 😂 It helps that we've only got about 12ft of livable space to convert this time! You guys are doing one heck of a job on your bus and we cannot WAIT to see it finished! (and not only because we might convince you to do a 24 hr van/bus swap 🤣)
Excited for you guys. Looking forward to the build and seeing what you create because your bus is beautiful. Sending vibes of Blessings and Love for your new adventures on your journey together. Maybe we will meet down the road some day.
Be sure to do tube for framing, much lighter then wood, cabinet faces in alum sheet, butcher block CT adds a bit of weight but looks gorgeous! Look up light weight interior builds here on YT! These Promasters can struggle once they have a bit of weight in them, we have a winnie solis pocket for urban daily driving and also weekend glamping, but we are fixin to get a e450 or similar 4x4 maybe with a pop top high roof, Im still jonesing to do a cummins swap in a uhaul box truck as a tow rig for car shows or track days! I'll be honest I like the promasters better then merc or fords modern vans, because more interior room and comfort that affords later, hope in future they add an awd and turbo version for more tq!
Congrats on you new van!!! Even more congrats on 20 MPG! So cool. Think where those extra dollars can go. Well now it's time to enjoy the build. Ughhh. I hated my build so I made it as simple as possible nplus I'm in a tiny Astro van. Just big enough for me and my dog. Anyway super happy for you and looking forward to new adventures. Enjoy it!!!!
Go New Van! Fun Build, Happy you guy's are going forward. Truly loved the bus but I understand dependable and gas ⛽ prices today, but I'm not getting rid of my 4x4 truck yet, lol. Thanks for sharing!
Jimmy, she's a keeper. Put a ring on it!
Watch out Jimmy seems reluctant to tie the knot. Your living together anyway what’s the problem with commitment.

That was fast. Can”t wait to hear the details. Congratulations. Now the fun begins.

Rust prevention is a must. The ones that I drive around or behind that are 5 years old and older usually start showing rust.
I love the back windows you can be in bed and look at the view!!;! Congrats !!!!
Congratulations you two. It's awesome.
We are so glad that you found your new van. My wife and I have been married for 32 years and have been together for 38 years. We really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. Stay safe and we are rooting for you both.
OMGGGG I can't believe you guys were in our home area! We also bought our van from Pacific Auto! Welcome to the Ram Van Fam!!!!
No way!! That's awesome! And we're happy to join the fam! 😂

Great stuff! New beginning. Best of fun and long journeys.
Congratulations! Looking forward to the build and future travels.

so excited to see how you guys convert this! Congrats you guys!
Start with

Put the bed in the very back extending out over the wheel wells. Use that space underneath for the tanks and electronics.
Pretty cool. Congrats!
While your standing there, consider 2"of foam under the floor and 2" on the ceiling.
Congrats! Good luck on your road adventures!
love how up and happy you guys are .God be with you
