Lot's of great info here to really take to heart when putting together your training program. There are many ways to train and it's all about finding what works best for you. It never really made sense to me that you needed to "change your entire workout" every 4 - 5 months and that's because when you understand what's really happening in your body.... well... there is no need to. I drop a lot of great information in this video that I hope you all find helpful. My trainer links to a lot of your videos from like 14 years ago, so RUclips recommended this to me :) It's good to see you're still going strong on RUclips!
Thanks, Scott. Been watching your videos for almost two years now since I started lifting and getting into shape. You have some of the best tutorials out there and almost every one of my exercises involves taking cues from you.
So happy to hear my videos have been helping you out! If you ever want to try any of my programs I recommend my 5 day split. Keep up the great work and remember being consistent is key always! 5 Day Bodybuilding Split muscularstrength.com/program/5-Day-Bodybuilding-Split
It’s incredible good to hear my nutrition and workout are almost the same as yours. Bunch of vegetables, cardio 3-4 days a day, bunch of protein and good fats. I will be 39 in Nov. I’m 150 pounds, 14.8 body fat
I’m usually the type of person that says you have to feel it the day after 😅 man Scott it’s crazy I watched you in middle school now I’m an adult working out has become a way of life for me I have a bad habit of it lol it feels good to be strong and to work out
Before we get Stahted how’s the cah Scott I’m glad to see you’re not a lobstah anymore and love your new video take care man and I love to see keep climbing to the top
I am 70 in 8 days. I bought my first set of weights age 22. After playing with the weights all day - I woke up the next morning with excruciating DOMS in what felt like every single muscle in my body. It was so bad I could hardly walk. Slowly got over it in about a week, but since then I have NEVER had any muscle soreness no matter how much weights I've done. Strange maybe - but true nonetheless :)
I reckon progression with proper form is more important then being sore.. If you progress on your lifts for entire year with proper form without worrying about being sore there's no way you haven't built any muslce (with proper nutrition too)
Good video, although I have the opposite problem, I would like to get less sore especially after consistently working out for years I still need 2 days for full recover and if I workout every second day I still workout sore and it can impact my daily life as well. Healing faster/better would be great
@@ScottHermanFitness I try to eat a lot of protein and unsaturated fat, carbs are medium since I get stomach pain from noodles and similar food very often. Maybe thats why? Maybe micro-nutrients like some vitamins and minerals deficiency could also be but idk how to surely know
Great video as always. And great timing! I had been wondering why I am not getting sore anymore and started my second deload (new concept I learned recently 😅) today, after seven weeks of hard training. If you love gym, deload sucks, but after watching this I have more confidence that it's worth it. Thanks a ton! 🙏
Working out does not stunt your growth. That is a myth created by ignorant parents unfortunately. What DOES stunt your growth is not getting enough nutrition. So make sure you are eating WELL as you continue to train hard at the gym! Lots of water too!
@ScottHermanFitness Love your content man. You have been an inspiration to me and your contact has been very educational for me through the years. Can you make a video on the importance of stretching before and after? How much? what kinds, etc?
Very informative as always, did a hard winter bulk and now it's time to cut, can I lift less frequently on a cut and maintain most of my muscle and cut fat as long as I have enough protein or will it go away if I train less? I've never cut before
really depends on the calorie deficit you are in. Losing bits of size as a natural is typical when cutting. You will also lose strength... but nothing is stopping you after you cut to switch to a more strength building program once you reach your desired size and shape
@ScottHermanFitness copy that Scott🫡, I work a physical job so I'll see if I can keep a decent amount of muscle on the cut while not actively training and after I drop maybe 15 pounds I'll go hard again and maingain
Hi Scott , i hope u read this. Im going to gym for about 2 years now , and im a college student so my economical situation is not that great. I cant use any supplements and have to eat what school cafeteria has so i cant get enough protein or carb. I was going gym because i enjoyed it but recently my growth started to decrease and my weights are not going up. Should i stop going to gym and wait untill having a job or go to the gym anyway even cant eat properly ? I really need an answer
does it have to be 12-14 days off? how about 1 week off every 3 months? also, how does age affect these reset days? do younger people need less time and older people need more time?
This has nothing to do with being young or old. The goal is to re-sensitize your body to muscle damage as much as possible. Experiment with the time off. Train for 3 months and try 14 days... then after next 3 months try 7 days... and repeat. You have you entire life to train, start experimenting. 😉
@@ScottHermanFitness what activities would be good during these off weeks? cardio, hiit, yoga/stretching? do hiit and yoga/stretching tax the muscles enough to negate this down time? thanks
12-14 days?! Wow you really are 40 years old 😂 for me 5 days of (or very light training) after a training block and I feel reborn and ready to progressively overload again. Don't think I ever took 14 days off in 10 years that I do bodybuilding.
Your ignorance is really quite sad and pathetic you think coming here with an insult is acceptable.👍 Maybe go do some research on this subject so you can participate in an educational conversation around the topic material.
its called resettting your neural links or firing to your muscles, scotty has no degrees in anything , so yes hes trying to say it best he can, as for drop sets, ehh, for secondary muscles theyre ok, for chest? NO supporting muscles will build up lactic acid, get rashed 1st, scotty fails to mention , slow the fuck down!! he should follow more of alex/alpha destinys advice
I grew my channel as a top creator because of my unmatched ability to break things down and make them easy to understand. Sorry you can't handle drop-sets on chest. Maybe try pushing your limits more. My chest speaks for itself. Genetics only get you so far, hard work does the rest.

I don't really switch up the workouts now I just change the weight, the tension, or rep/sets. still get sore and still pump them muscles.

I'll consider taking a week off at some point. As I also have notice that I haven't been getting as sore with some of my routines
It may be time to take a break then! you can do stay active, just take time away from heavy lifts!
