I think you’re missing the operative word here….being contract, meaning that you can’t just be “let go”. Ruthless was a business and would incur financial losses if it just released lucrative artists without being compensated properly. Dre signed a contract willingly and was obligated to fulfill its terms, period. Friends don’t set friends up to be assaulted to get out of a contract, and Eazy was obviously willing to negotiate with him if he agreed to meet him in the middle of the night. Eazy didn’t do anything to Dre accept take care of him by buying him a mansion and giving him money he wasn’t even owed. There is no evidence of financial impropriety on his or Jerry Heller’s part and neither was ever sued by people who complained about their business practices.

Eazy didn’t do anything to Dre accept take care of him by buying him a mansion and giving him money he wasn’t even owed.
