    "A free people ought to be armed."
    - George Washington
    "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
    - Thomas Jefferson
    "The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
    - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)
    "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."
    - Thomas Jefferson
    "To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."
    - George Mason
    "I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians."
    - George Mason (father of the Bill of Rights and The Virginia Declaration of Rights)
    I would have said this myself but these men said it all so much sooner and better than I.

    Instead of trying to take guns away, if a gun is used in a crime then hold the person accountable. Don't punish everybody for those that use a gun illegally. If a gun is used in a crime, then no parole when found guilty.

He is clearly of very high intelligence, he's just sarcastic and slightly lacking in humility (when he says nobody can play the guitar like he can), but I believe he's genuinely fighting against tyrants for the American people.

    I used to be an NRA member , But since I lost my rights an as American Citizen living in occupied New York State , I wont give them a penny any more. its been 3 years since the unconstitutional law known as the SAFE Act has been shoved down the throats of millions of New Yorkers and do you want to know what the NRA has done? Nothing. They asked me for more money , thats about it.Nobody has yet challenged the law in the NYS supreme court . Know what Guns of America ( GOA)did for us? Nothing. that's the kind of protection I got from joining the NRA , and governor Cuomo is now trying to write more anti gun laws . The NRA should stand for Not Really American, Thanks NRA, from behind the lines in NYS

    The difference between a SUV and an assault rifle is that an assault rifle is specifically designed with the single purpose of killing many people as quickly as possible and a SUV was not designed with such a malicious purpose.
    Now I don't think an outright ban is necessary, just more restrictions and tighter backgrounds checks on owning guns, including assault rifles.

    Exactly my point. There will always be people out to harm others or help others; bad guys and good guys. It is in our very nature - to deny that is to deny the existence of free will and individuality.
    As a martial artist, I also use all of the tools I have available to avoid violence. Removing one's self from a situation, if possible, is preferred...but sometimes people get stuck in bad places. When it comes down to "fight or flight" and there is nowhere to run, what option do we have?

  • @Oneness100

    My objective is to have ZERO gun related deaths of innocent people that don't carry guns or aren't doing something illegal. Children aren't allowed to carry weapons, yet some of them get their hands on it and have had accidents when their parents don't have them locked up safetly. Children have getting killed by losers with various types of guns while they are attending school. So how does this society prevent that? What are the options? Keep guns out in the market? What's YOUR objective?

    There have, I think, been 13 school shootings so far in 2014. Another dead teenager in Florida. Concealed carry is working great, isn't it. We need more assault rifles, too. Assault weapons are not used in home invasions or armed robberies. Gangs use auto weapons to kill each other. Let them have all those weapons they want.

  • @johno5068

    In a mugging situation, a pistol would be the best item for self-defence (if you want to go that path). Not an assault rifle with high capacity magazines.

    "Exerting gun control is not taking away your civil rights if you pose a threat or do something illegal."
    But gun control isn't aimed at criminals, it is aimed at ALL gun owners. The police have limited personnel and limited resources. They can't catch criminals if they are busy monitoring and controlling all of the peaceful/innocent people (especially with the War on Drugs). It's simple math.

    The founders had a word for a bunch of farmers marching with guns without government sanction: a mob. One of the reasons we have a Constitution is the founders were worried about the danger posed by individuals acting like a militia without legal authority. This was precisely what happened during Shays’ Rebellion, an insurrection in western Massachusetts that persuaded many Americans that we needed a stronger central government to avert anarchy."

  • @johno5068
    @johno5068 11 лет назад

    It's a much better option to run when in danger than trying to act like you have the same training, experience, and equipment as the law enforcement.

    finale:
    "In reality, in the first decade after the Constitution, the government put down several rebellions similar to Shays - and nobody claimed that they were merely asserting their Second Amendment rights."
    so, the meaning of 'regulation' meant the same back then as it does now. regulations from GOVERNMENT = laws.
    militias were CONTROLLED by state / federal governments. you were told what KIND of musket to have, in many cases FORCED to have one, and how many rounds. you could be fined.

    "In 1776, most of the original state constitutions did not even include an arms-bearing provision. The few states that did usually also included a clause protecting the right not to bear arms. Why? Because, in contrast to other cherished rights such as freedom of speech or religion, the state could not compel you to speak or pray. It could force you to bear arms."

  • @johno5068
    @johno5068 11 лет назад

    If you have training and equipment by all means use it, but don't go out looking for a fight. I'm saying that for the majority of the American population that doesn't have the equipment or training the best option is to leave or avoid an armed fight.

  • @neoconsnightmare2
    @neoconsnightmare2 11 лет назад

    "These laws also defined what type of guns you had to buy - a form of taxation levied on individual households. Yes, long before Obamacare, the state made you buy something, even if you did not want to purchase it. (The guns required by law were muskets, not pistols. The only exceptions to this general rule were the horsemen’s pistols that dragoons and other mounted units needed.)"
    contemporary PROOF of this? the militia act of 1792. told you not only what type of musket, but # of ROUNDS.

    Don't give people, politicians (government personnel, law enforcement, etc.) reasons to think that you are planning or going to do anything to revolt or do anything physical against another human being that's not violating the law. Stockpiling weapons, acting militant, hateful, racist gives them more reasons to remove that person as a threat.
    Exerting gun control is not taking away your civil rights if you pose a threat or do something illegal. threatening government officials is illegal.

  • @Oneness100

  • @Sammerkona
    @Sammerkona 11 лет назад

    You realize an "assault weapon" works no differently than any semi-automatic gun, right? You can't shoot it faster than a finger squeezes. The only reason some want to ban "assault weapons" is because they're scary looking. A fully automatic weapon is illegal to own. And just a note, the shooter in Newtown would not have been stopped by yet another law. He broke 41 laws, a 42nd law would have made no difference.

  • @johno5068
    @johno5068 11 лет назад

    If you let citizens have a choice whether or not they can own a gun, there will be innocent people who will choose not get a gun and therefore not able to protect themselves from those with guns. It either has to be mandatory or banned.
    I agree that those with violent criminal records, alcohol problems, etc. should not be allowed to own guns.

    Multiple attackers, as is frequently the case in home invasion robberies. While shotguns and centerfire rifles have the highest rate of one-shot stops, they are not infallible, and it takes less than 1.5s to close a 21' gap, which is right around the bare minimum for draw / acquire target / fire accurately.
    A shotguns spread is about 1" per yard. So at 10' is only a 3" spread. Still gotta aim.

    Militias were tightly controlled organizations legally defined and regulated by the individual colonies before the Revolution and, after independence, by the individual states. Militia laws ran on for pages and were some of the lengthiest pieces of legislation in the statute books. States kept track of who had guns, had the right to inspect them in private homes and could fine citizens for failing to report to a muster."

    Certainly people can buy security measures for their home. That can increase your chances of surviving an attack in your home. But a free person also has the choice to buy a weapon. A pistol would be cheaper and it can be carried when you are away from home. You can't take your security doors with you when you walk outside.

Most people don't know alot of the new laws that were put in place.1) You can never buy an AK or AR in NY state as long as this law stays on the books.2) You will have to waste your time with a background check for a box of bullets(no internet sales) 3) You can only ever put 7 bullets in your gun. Sounds like infringement no matter how you spin it. And almost all the counties and cities have officially opposed this.

    From a purely financial point of view, it's a LOT cheaper for you to go to a gun range and use THEIR assault rifles, etc. and get your rocks off, than to buy your own. do you have a permit to carry a concealed weapon? If not, you can't carry them around. So, if you are afraid of a home invasion, get those steel door frames, and locks to prevent a break in, it's probably as much as an assault weapon, but it'll keep your home safe to give you peace of mind.

    Earlier [approximately 2 hours ago] you said the following: "Since no opinions or facts have been provided that point to the contrary, I believe my argument stands." then approximately 3 hours ago you said: " In this day and age I do not think that an unorganized militia is necessary considering our extremely large defence budget." You used "I believe" and "I do not think" to base opinions.
