That first scene was a pretty awesome display to be honest!! 😊 Haven’t seen an Aardvark in since I don’t know when. Didn’t even know anyone still had one that was airworthy...
Looks amazing at night. When they were with the RAAF, they would send one to do a dump and burn at the Riverfire festival each year in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia) and the night sky would be lit up.
2:22 I actually watched something Like this happen above my house where two jets where very close to each other, I dont know if this is the same event from the inside pov but its still cool (thus happened very recently)
2 clips from Australia 🇦🇺 . I am touched 🙂. Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks as this weekend is Avalon air show in Melbourne, Australia. And, it's going to be great. 👍
I got a big nostalgia kick from the dump'n'burn, been a long time since I last saw a Pig do that. I was lucky enough to be at the Royal Australian Air Force's 70th anniversay airshow in 1991, the F-111 display concluded with three aircraft approaching the field in vee formation about 500ft off the deck, then all three of them hitting the fuel dump switch as they broke and climbed out. Something I will never forget! You can see a tiny bit of (very old) footage of the triple dump-and-burn at around 13:43 in this documentary which someone has kindly uploaded to youtube (all four parts are available): watch?v=8Yzzi3qAHnc
Australia was the last air Force to use the F-111 and this was it's fair well airshow. What it is ,is the fuel dump pipe is right between the engines and when they dump fuel and go to afterburners it ignites the dumping fuel. Aussies loved it!
I live not far from where the F111s were based. Back when I was a kid, we used to have a spring festival called Warana. It was traditional for the opening for 6 F111s to fly over Brisbane city in formation just after it got dark, then when they got over Moreton Bay they’d fan out, pull up vertically and all dump and burn.
0:25...In my opinion, these are problems with Forsage engine camera ! 🤔 I wonder what kind of fighter it is? F18!? similar to the MiG23, but it has 2 engines ...
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 yes, I am doing it for a career! Love the Learjet! I would love to ride in one! I'm pretty new to aviation only been flying 6-7 years
Watched that happen on an alert F-4D, out of RAF Woodbridge. Our rescue squadron was at the takeoff end of the runway, the siren went off, and the practice squad left on their simulated nuke mission. One of the pair got airborne and had too much fuel and some splashed on takeoff and the flame came out the fuel vent. Impressive, but not fun to watch when you're not that far away.
F111 is still probably the best looking and versatile aircraft ever created !! F18, SR71 and a Mig or two and of course the Concord will sit in 2nd places. But wow, what a incredible achievement !! I still drool over this jet !!
Did not hear the explanation of why that Embraer jet kept the nose up for so long upon landing. Front nose gear looked like it was functioning properly but maybe there was a malfunction in the warning light or something like that..
It's seems the jet landing holding its nose up as long as possible was most probably due to they didn't know if the front landing gear had locked into place... Is my best summation
RIP to those who think this was an accident and not a regular airshow "trick" originally used in Vietnam to deter missiles. Saw Australian F-111s do it several times at airshows.
i love how everyone's like "lol oil prices and greta thunberg" at the sight of the F111C doing a dump and Burn as if its recent. THAT VIDEO WAS UPLOADED 12 YEARS AGO!!! we retired the ex-USAF F111Gs in 2007, and retired the Aussie spec F111Cs in 2010.
I saw this in the 87 Tigermeet. Later I found that was fuel dump, a characteristic shared with the F-14 but, in this case, they were not allowed to do it.
I've looked and seen an airliner paralleling us before also. Also someone going the opposite direction fairly close in a little lower once. I never saw that happen again. Got my attention though. LOL
Aren't the Robinsons vulnerable to tails being chopped off by rotor blades, due to the type of rotor heads they have? Or is that not a problem in these manouvres?
I hope jet fuel catches fire. That’s kinda the key principle behind how a jet engine operates. And if you dump a tankful into the cone of a lit afterburner or two, it lights off real well.
The dump and burn manoeuvre sounds like my last relationship
It’s a Vietnam latrine thing.
Taco bell for me dogg
My morning routine.
Luckily no one was injured
look, im pretty sure its also an apt description as to why we got them in the first place almost 50 years ago, and why we kept them until 2010...
That "Dump and Burn Manuver" is also known as the "4 Hours After Taco Bell Manuver" in some locations.

not for 13 years. this was the last one that flew.

I dont know why but here in Australia we buried almost all our 111's in a tip
Airshow at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW Australia, September 2010. The dump and burn on the final day was about 45 seconds.

Heading there Saturday! Been going since 2001.
Love it when an aircraft appears from fog to land to.
F=111 pilot: Oopsie. My bad. I didn't even know they were still flying that jet.
Melbourne international air show is on this coming weekend! I’m so excited!!
Lucky you!✈🛫🛩🛬✈🚀
Yep heading there Saturday. The forecast improved and it’s looking good!
The 2nd clip was after they tried to do a dump and burn.

1:00, is it recent or a while ago? Living in Aus, I think it would come over to WA… maybe not…

The in n out right outside LAX airport will sometimes get wing tip vortices make it to the ground. Fun to watch burgers go flying.

Not all of them. True, that was the original plan but enough people screamed loud enough for them to keep a half dozen or so for aviation museums.
