      It is what Iga does very effectively, and Jelena Ostapenko, too. But there is surely power behind their shots, else they wouldn't be good, like Leylah--she places balls well but with no power.

    I hate to say it but tennis needs Collins right now. Wishing her continued success but I do hope she reconsiders retiring this year.
    Gone are the days of top players who transcend sport like the Williams, Sharapova, and Osaka. Guaff is the only big name in tennis right now. As much as I like Swiatek, Sabalenka, and Rybakina, we need a personality and Collins is currently delivering the star power the WTA needs at the moment.

    • @Jaacob_777
      @Jaacob_777 Месяц назад +1

      In what sense is Gauff a big name? 😂 Or Collins?💀 None of them possess any star power nor can they even remotely match achievements of Swiatek or even Sabalenka. If you want flashing lights go with Raducanu😂

    • @AFCompany
      @AFCompany Месяц назад

      @@Jaacob_777 Guaff is known outside of the tennis world. People would know her name without actually following tennis. Has nothing to do with actual talent. Obviously Swiatek is the best player in the world at the moment but no one outside of tennis fans would have any idea who she is. Collins has star potential to get the WTA more recognition and she is also currently on a hot streak. Radacanu was a one hit wonder but still did not transcend sports like a Serena or Sharapova who were household names.

      @@AFCompanygauff was hyped to be the next Serena which is only reason people outside of tennis world may know her and shes clearly NOT. Swiatek came a longer way - she doesnt have the western media behind her because shes not american. But to say shes not recognized is pretty wild,she also got some top partnerships like rolex, porsche and more.

    • @AFCompany
      @AFCompany Месяц назад

      @@Jaacob_777 Coco was hyped up for sure but every young player is. Swiatek has had great success and I think she should be more of a star than she currently is. I wouldn’t say it is western media based as Sharapova is russian and even Kournikova was very famous outside of tennis. Osaka was also big for a bit. WTA just doesn’t have stars or rivalries at the moment.

    Sakkari is the best SFist ever.
    What's this, her 25th SF loss?

    • @Shilo1987
      @Shilo1987 Месяц назад +1

      For all the hubbub around her SF record, she only has a handful of bad losses (Raducanu, Saisai Zheng, Trevisan if you count United Cup as a thing, arguably Martic, arguably Hercog); in reverse order, her other losses are Collins, Pegula, Vekic, Sabalenka, Sabalenka, Pegula, Garcia, Bencic, Swiatek, Kontaveit, Alexandrova, Krejcikova, Andreescu, Kontaveit, Sabalenka, Azarenka, Rybakina, Pliskova, Bertens, Garcia. It's all top players, players who were in amazing form at the time, and players who are dangerous/powerful enough to trouble anybody if they get hot.
      How tight she gets during pressure matches is definitely the number one culprit for her SF record, but I also think that her game style lends itself to having the racquet taken from her hand by more aggressive players. Like, I don't think she played that badly today against Collins. It's just that Collins is not only in the zone right now but has the type of game that can rush/bother Sakkari.
      I'll also say that since the US Open SF loss to Raducanu, she's 8-13 in SFs with wins over Swiatek, Badosa (when she was top 10), Pegula, Gauff, and Garcia. 8-13 isn't great, either, but I do think it's promising(-ish) that she's improving there.

    Out of nowhere…she’s just blasting through the top players in the world?!?! On multiple surfaces?!?! And don’t give me that, “She’s playing free because her last go” stuff. You can’t be a 40th rank player or so and just flip a switch and start beating all the top players. So what does this mean? She was just tanking her whole career if she can just whip this out? Or is something else happening that’s a bit more behind the scenes? I have no hate for Collins. I know pretty much the whole locker room doesn’t really like her. @@Mc-kk4fd Yeah, that something ain’t right or shady’s going on. I don’t jump to PED’s because even those take time, and all this has happened in a matter of a week or two. What it appears to me as is some kind of “forced branding” to “remake” her image through some kind of match fixing. Even as I type this, she just ROLLED through Kasatkina in the final?!?! Again, at the top of the game, in any sport, this doesn’t happen. You can’t just flip a switch and start destroying everyone at the top. This is why I think some kind branding fixing:
      It’s the American swing of the tour.
      They want their American to leave being painted in a brighter light than she’s always had on tour.
      Okay She even has nicknames like “Danimal” now?!? Where was this her whole career?
      And again, if all this is wrong, and Danielle has had this in her her whole career, where’s it been? And what has she been doing? Which also doesn’t paint a good like.
      Again, no hate, but something ain’t right.
