I've owned this bike about a month, and love it. The acceleration, the tip in to corners, the brakes, the sound, the looks, it's all superb. That said, the suspension is a bit of a weakness on what is otherwise a premium bike. Not terrible, just comparable to my Versys 650. I knew that going in, and that Guzzi will bring out the Ohlins edition later, but I couldn't wait. On the seat, it is plush and comfortable for short rides, but the gel is a bit too soft and the material too grabby for long rides, IMO. I'm getting between 40.4 and 40.7 miles per gallon (US gallons) riding in sport mode, Moto Guzzi claims 46, haha.
@@LateApexChiangMai this is super info from an owner. I’ll pin your post in the hope anyone thinking of purchasing will read these true owners notes. Thanks for sharing 👌🙏
I agree, as a owner of multiple bike, 2 being moto guzzis which I ride the most, but they are not premuim bikes and priced accordingly and worth every penny though. I would class Ducati and MV and Harley Davidson and £15k plus Bmw,s as Premuim bikes.
@@checker3694 I know what you mean, but with the Mandello and Stelvio I think MG is trying to move into the premium range. The "look and feel" is already there. I expect an up-specced Stelvio soon that will have the better suspension and also the quick-shifter, heated grips etc as standard. That will invite serious comparison to the best touring bikes.
@LateApexChiangMai I think where they are at now in price ladder is spot on, moving into Ducati and BMW neighbourhood would mean raising plastic, paint, switchgear, and fixtures and fittings and Germanic build and quality Ducati being vw group but italian and raising warranty to 3 plus years would mean raising prices 40%, that end of the Market is solid, though now outpriceing itself.
Guzzis are excellent value for money now, and always better end of riding season when piaggio discount heavily to shift end of year stock.
500 miles on mine so far, and I'm struggling to find a fault, I love it, never thought I'd buy a Guzzi.
Good to hear. 👌
I was impressed too. Wonderful bike. Rode many Guzzis, but this one I am thinking to buy. :) Can check my content. Cheers.
Riding a Ducati Multistrada V2S (950) after three GSs I’ve fallen in love with Italian bikes, they really do have something special about them. Testing one of these in the New Year alongside its sibling the V100 Mandello, the Stelvio needs a ‘S’ version using the Ohlins suspension.
Agreed.
Great test, I get fed up with some tests always grumbling about insignificant details. Your test was more to my liking enjoyed it a lot. I am a mite long in the tooth for M/Cs but have a lot of experience in the past. Best I ever owned was a new Vincent Black Knight back around 1955 at £358 those days. Sadly due to marriage a few years later we had to part company, but at the time I was surprised to get the same as I paid for it when sold. My wife passed away too early in life and I went back to two wheels BMW, Honda, and so on. Now getting too close to the ton, I just get satisfaction looking at M/Cs and think back to the past.
So keep at it, we only live once. Best wishes and thanks for the posting. Lastly I love V-Twins and the Stelvio is the one I favour.
What a lovely message to receive Ken. Sounds like you’ve lived life with motorbikes at the forefront too. Sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. Hope life has turned good again for you. 🙏
Bought one and couldn’t be happier-it’s superb. Except for the main beam switch that is really easy to accidentally turn on. Apart from that slightly irritating thing it’s fab.
Funny, I’ve just remembered I noticed that too!🤯
Great filming and sweet editing.
Lovely machine, I really enjoyed your chat with Bruce.
Thanks!
Thanks on both counts man. Appreciated 👌🙌
A lovely machine Dave....It caught my eye in Megabikes a while ago! Must take it for a test ride.....Great review mate!! 👌
Pop along and try it Garret. Although leave your wallet at home! Thanks again for the coffee, much appreciated. 🙏👌
Nice review. The bike is unarguably, very nice to look at - if not the best looking out there... ! How ever - they SHOULD have sold this bike READY TO GO, without the need for paying MORE for "extras".... to make it really attractive. Quick Shifter should be there. Adaptive Cruise Control should be there. Center stand and at least a Givi mount for top-box, should, also, be ON IT ! - since it's a TRAVEL bike. I think Piaggio has made a strategic error, by not including those things in the price, because if they are purchased as extras, the price is nearing the BMW 1300 GS that HAS all that ! - and that bike is a feather - to manually move around ( garage...P-places..) comp. to the top-heavy Stelvio.... 🤷♂
Good video to watch! Would be great if you could mention a few words about gearbox and clutch feel in your next videos. IMO, it is as important as seat comfort. Thanks!
Lovely bike, I was laughing at intro as I've seen your out take clips😂😂
Lovely, Next time I am in the Uk. I definitely have to pop over to Ireland on a bike for a Bushmills, a Guiness and a ride through the mountains. Nice bike, would I trade my GS? I like my GS.
What beautiful bike Dave, almost tempt me away from Honda... almost😂. Great to see you getting the opportunity to review bikes again, and a great spot to go for a ride.
🤣Nothing will get you away from that bike of yours!
Beautiful roads for a beautiful bike. Nice first ride, thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! A Guzzi around the Wicklow Mountains 🏔️
What a lad ! Love the bike
Great review. I test rode one of these two weeks ago. Love the engine transmission suspension frame package. Moto Guzzi have the fueling spot on!
The ancillary functions are a bit clunky to use ( cruise control, stepping through menus etc).
I actually bought the Mandello S...In the end 95% of my riding is on-road, and for the bit I do off-road, a Honda CRF300 would be a better fit, and do a better job.
I'm loving the Mandello, but the Stelvio is a great bike.
Great bike and stunning views Dave keep up the great vids 👍
It is a lovely bike, I sat on one at the ABR F, a very detailed review, and funny as ever.
You did a good job there Dave. Guzzi have a lot to offer, I wish they would shout about it more.
Cheers Steve. 👊🏻
Great delivery pal and review. It does have a look of the multistrada to I think. Excellent vid as always 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Jay 💪🙏
Decided against ‘throwing a leg over’ Dave 😂😂😂 Loved that teaser vid
Yeah, I’m got my words out in the end.🤣👌
Fantastic review, really enjoyed it.
Beautiful looking bike, be great now if you got a go on the v85 and see what you make of that.
Thanks for sharing.Great location 👍
Looks a great machine, must try and get a test ride on one
Beautiful bike and review. MotoGuzzi are unique and consider reading The Perfect Vehicle to truly appreciate them. I’d love to see
a one year used review when time 🕰️ comes. We have an 1980 V50 mark ii and it’s a lovely experience like this bike I imagine. Congratulations Dave, great to see one of these first megabikes (great shop) reviews. 💪👊
Cheers Anthony man. 👊🏻
Hi Dave great review.Would be great to see more of these on the roads in Ireland all I sedm to see is the GS
I think you will definitely see a few more of these in the future. 🙏😉
Morning Dave , Omg that is one fabulous looking stallion, love the simplicity of the switch gear , it’s beyond me why other oem make it complicated, the stelvio is a real alternative to a AT , GS ect with that big v twin ,
Great review with high praise for the MG , stunning footage as always 👏👍🕺🫡
Cheers Tony, yeah I think this will be a huge hit for MG.
Smashing looking machine. Would love to try that.
I just got one of these a few weeks ago. A bit vibey at over 80MPH but overall I LOVE THIS BIKE!
Interesting. My demo model didn’t vibe at all and at one stage I had it at 100mph on a motorway.
Very nice bike, great filming too.
looks like a nice bike, character, style and a bit of poke 😊
I almost bought a Moto Guzzi V85TT ,but ended up with my current F850GS but just not as sexy as the Italian, although love my GS! 🤪🤣👍
Great vid Dave! 😎✌️
It’s a very nice looking bike mate isn’t it
I think big adventure bikes make great all roads sports tourers, I'm in Australia and our country roads are rough as guts. I have a 2022 Pan America Special and it is a fantastic touring bike for our rough roads.
Good ride out….but, personally I don’t like the 360 camera views, distortion!
Great vid 👌
Thanks you 🙏
Hi Dave, Probaly the only bike I would trade my GS for. Love to hear your thoughts on a GS comparo. Excellent review. Cheers Arthur
I’d love to have the bike for longer then I could do a proper review and then compare it to the GS. It wouldn’t be fair after only having it for a day. 😉😮💨
I have a v85 and I am very happy with this. I wanted to buy this because of the better wind protection and more hp's. So I have made a test drive and I was a bit disappointed. Mainly because of the kloenk from the neutral to first gear and the corresponding move forwards (with the clutch 100%). I have read more comments about this. I hope guzzi will solve this. Did you experience the same?
Sorry to hear this. I never experienced this. It was buttery smooth all of the time with no clunking and no false neutrals.
Buy an automatic electric if bikes with guts aren't for you.
@@djtchamp5076 very constructive comment, thank you so much.
Great initial review of a great bike. The pricing seems super with all the modes. As with the exta charge for the radar mode is there a charge for the male stripper mode??🤭🤭 Enjoyed todays video. Keep them coming. 👍👍
🤣🤣👌
Lovely bike, like the Stelvio and the Mandello.
Mate had the previous version, and he loved it despite its very frequent visits to the dealer.
I’m sensing this may well be the bike that replaces your 1200 GS?
🤣👌
Beautiful bike - not sure about that rear shock though…
Moto Guzzi 👍👍🇮🇹🇮🇪
19 in front wheel is a no go 17 please
I think you like it!!
I think so too!🤗
I really like the look of the Stelvio, I currently have a 10 year old R1200GS LC that I love. The new 1300GS doesn’t appeal to me- is the Stelvio a good move?
Who knows mate. I’d be a little reluctant to buy one until I see what resale is like. Superb bike though.
@@WheelieGoodTV I love my GS, it’s done 45k miles and is in superb condition. It does everything you need in a bike and more. I use it to commute, have weekend back road blasts and long European camping tours in ALL weathers. It’s long been paid for so I have no reason to sell it.
Lovely alternative alright but probably a nightmare to get accessories for. That's where the gs can't be beaten unfortunately. You seem to spend a lot of time riding in my back garden 😂
It’s stunning there!🤗
Excellent machine. I'll have to test one. Tracer9 or Guzzi ? That's where my new bike thinking is at the moment.
I’d be Guzzi all the way after this. 😉
@@WheelieGoodTV You had me at no vibrations. The windscreen is very good? Is there a quiet bubble behind the screen?
Not sure if I can spend €20k though. I'll have to take myself to Dublin and find out.
So,is it good enough to swich from your gs?
It definitely is, but I still have my heart set on something else. 😉
It's A2 compliant right?
I've had my 1250 GS for over a year now and absolutely love it. However having looked at both the Stelvio and the TT I love them and am half seriously looking at swapping. I don't know if that would be silly though as the Beemer is so good. God, I wish I had the money and the garage of Harry Metcalfe! Would be interested in anyone's comments??
Yes this would certainly be a lure for me to leave BMW.
@WheelieGoodTV I think if my 1250 was stolen or written off I'd give it a whirl. Not sure I can be bothered with the hassle just yet!
Nice bike I think they'll sell plenty of them
Agreed. 👍
I get 56mpg out of my Panam when touring.
I've always liked a Guzzi, would be my preference over the GS. And the base model is going for a bargain £12,999 in England.
Sometimes it says throw a leg over me.😅
🤣👌
Are you going to buy one?
@@richiektm 🤣 If I could,
I definitely would. 🤔
It’s just so heavy. Couldn’t do it.
Nah it’s only heavy on paper. All the weight is down low so it feels really nimble.
@@WheelieGoodTV Low down weight is fine. It makes my 260 kg Italian bike really manouevrable. It's just hard picking it up if you drop it. It is an Energica Experia. Get someone to lend you one for a review.
@@WheelieGoodTV keep it away from paper and all will be well then.
It carries its weight so well you wouldn't believe it, with the lower centre of gravity, and seat height, it feels lighter than the Africa Twin, its going to be heavier than the AT due to the wonderful shaft drive,
@@gavfr I am not arguing the point. I’m probably just being grumpy because I can’t afford it. Not to mention the practical aspects of a niche brand in rural Australia. Parts and servicing are just too difficult.
The suspension is rubbish and the gearbox is awful
