I currently own both the Ducati Multistrada V4s, and the Stelvio. Hands down I prefer the Stelvio, the Duc will be going up for sale soon. Bravo Moto Guzzi!!
@tigdurrant8939 The bikes are very different, the Ducati is smooth and powerful, but it is a big bike, I don't like how the engine is tuned, low end grunt is lacking, flywheels are to light. Gearing is extremely close and requires working the gears constantly. Front end feel can be vague at times. Guzzi, on the other hand, has good power, a wider more usable power band, better front end feel, and stability. The Guzzi is effortless to ride, while not as refined as the Duc, it is also 10k less expensive. Every individual is different, and we have to sync with the bike we ride, I just have not been able to sync 100% with the Duc. Guzzi has a couple of niggles, I have synced with it much better.
@@Motomack1042 I feel the same about my Multistrada 950 S. I love the bike, but I've been to to the Alps several times now, and I'm constantly changing between 1st and 2nd in the tight stuff. And on uphill hairpins, I even have to feather the clutch to keep it smooth.
@capz3217, the new Stelvio, like the previous generation Stelvio, is engineered to climb mountain switchbacks. Thus, the great low-end torque for climbing, and easy, confident turn-in and cornering.

Thanks for another interesting bike review. I would love to see you testing the new Africa Twin 2024 Adventure Sports (manual) with the 19 inches front wheel; best regards from Montreal.
I was very impressed by the V100 I rode last summer (brief test ride), everything from the fit/finish to the handling was a pleasure. The size of the TFT didn't even occur to me. Maybe it's because I don't ride every bike in a particular category, so I'm unable to compare, but I just go by what's in front of me, so if the screen works for me, I'm good to go. Thanks for the review!
Yes, agreed, I have to compare to what the other bikes are doing in the same category, that is the only reason I mentioned the "smaller" 5"TFT. It looks good and does everything one needs it to do 👍👍 Take care, Scott
"They just weren't selling..." Well, I suppose you could say that about all Moto Guzzi's😉, but the real reason the old Stelvio was discontinued was because the 4 valve 1200 couldn't meet new euro emissions standards. It's why the Griso and Norge were all discontinued as well...same engines, same problem. Throw in the ABS requirements, and Guzzi said, "We're done here!"
If that were the reason, they would have done what all the other OEMs do, (Honda/BMW/KTM/Triumph/Ducati/Yamaha) put the money into it and bring it up to current emission standards. Simple business case. Plus the 3 dealers I talked to said that they were "not selling". Also, every moto mag article I've read said the same thing, "not selling" enough. This is why I used the term "not selling", I didn't make it up, I got it from them. Take care, Scott
They all had or developed liquid cooled engines that could meet the standard. The Guzzi bikes weren’t great sellers so at the time it wasn’t worth developing a new powerplant.
I had the old Stelvio for a couple of years and it turned into love/hate relationship. Fabulous bike to ride and a beautiful layout. But parts are stupidly expensive and hard to get hold of. It's Piaggio owned, so serviced at scooter shops by scooter mechanics. The camshafts turned into chocolate in literally one day and gave me a £2500 bill. And MG are notorious for their bad warranty. This new one looks gorgeous and I would be in the market for one if it wasn't for the issues I had with the old one.

Thanks for yet another great review. The price of the stelvio is great even in the Netherlands so much bang for the buck. It is a nice looking motor and has all the options I want/need when they at more stuff and electric suspension than the price is too close to the competition. Maybe I will trade in my 5 year old full option gs 1250 for a brand new stelvio and pay almost nothing for this swap.
Great Review.. I’m getting closer to my first Guzzi purchase, the Mandello or this….. ah choices. One thing. Kinda wish moto guzzi on the afore mentioned would integrate their cables into the handlebars, thus cleaning up the look.. Keep on the Great work. T
Not sure what Ducati you're mentioning in the video. I have a Moto Guzzi V7. Fantastic charismatic bike. Then I bought a new Ducati 950 Multistrada. Couldn't sell it back to the dealer fast enough! No soul, top heavy, sounds like a bag full of rusty nails, uncomfortable for me( for passenger ok), no bottom torque. Disappointed as I had one back in 1982 and liked it. Bought a BMW R1250R. The bike brought back my love for riding! Never again Ducati! Not sure if I'll ever get another bike again, but if I do, it would be a Moto Guzzi for sure!
Rode a Multistrada V2 last autumn. Didn´t like it. Too cramped for my length and top heavy, like you mentioned. Pretty underwhelming. Looking too buy a KTM 1290SAS this spring.
@@AndersPetersson79 I'm pretty tall too. Couldn't take more than 20minutes in that saddle! Extremely uncomfortable. And that sound - or rather the absence of the sound.. Lost a big chunk of money selling it back to the dealer but good riddance!
Scott, the more heavy bikes you test, the less kilo‘s YOU have. Don‘t forget the sweet s(l)ides of life! Very informative and entertaining video as always, well done!
Great looking bike but strange that my ride the Multi V2S was not included in your spec sheet, similar power and road biased but a lot lighter and a v twin even if it is in line with the frame. Certainly trying one of these next change…
I would love to have one of these just for the looks. It is stunning. I love my V85TT Travel so I'm sure I'd like the Stelvio. It would be my "sport bike".
Great review, a little bigger tank for me, electronic suspension, + some improvements on the wind protection and MG should be a winner ! Italians always do right with exhaust notes.
Scott, you are the second reviewer I watched who giggles like a kid at every twist of the throttle. That alone is motivation to check out the Stelvio. I had the same impression about the small display on the V100. I hope a bigger one doesn't come tied with expensive version. I am wondering what you think of the radar equipped Stelvio.
Less electronics the better in my opinion. Less stuff to go wrong. The stelvio looks fantastic. If the Moto Guzzi dealer in my area had good customer service I would consider one.
Great video Scott, It seems the Stelvio even being a new bike with new motor and suspension still needs some refinement to catch up with the other boys..AT, VStrom, GS, Explorer etc...
Wonderful review!! My only complain is that (at least in the video) you didn't rev the bike more than 4-5000 rpms. And the power in this bike is above the rpms you rode it. I believe you would love the engine even more. Also i believe that in comparison to Mandello , Stelvio has different gears in transmission ... 1st and 2nd gears look much longer than in Mandello.
Thank you. Umm...I went past 7k several times even in the video, sometimes it's hard to see the tachometer. Also, 90% of torque is at 3,500 RPM. So from 3500 = 90% to 6500 = 100%. That is the sweet spot and I didn't want to rev the snot out of an engine that is not broke in yet. Take care, Scott
I have had about gobs of bikes in my life. I LOVE that they resisted keyless. I am glad that they went with a manually adjustable suspension. I prefer that over electronic. I would have liked to have seen the 3 point "star" adjustment petals, though. A 7 gallon tank would be sweet for the extra range and wind protection a bigger tank provides. I guess I am old because I never use a quick-shifter even if it is equipped. So the lack of one here doesn't bother me personally. The worst thing about this bike IMO is the lack of range on the windscreen adjustment. I love BMW power windscreens and their wide range of adjustability. Guzzi seemed to have designed theirs as an afterthought.
I love this Stelvio, but I haven’t tested it yet... can’t wait 😀I think Guzzi comes with a very good alternative to the other big European Adventure bikes that are really getting way to expensive to my opinion. Congratulation Guzzi, I’m really very hot to trade my KTM 1290 SuperAdventure R for this one... 🤗 ,
Thanks. You present very well. I was really hoping to be a Guzzi owner for the 1st time. I personally didn't have a good manufacturer and dealer experience so decided to go for the GS (1250) which I love. A shame in a way as the Stelvio looks good and that engine is certainly proving itself.
Hi Scott, Thanks for the Stelvio review. I think the V100 Mandello S, has the same power train, so it sounds similar or equal to this Stelvio, or is it different? I think, if I’d go for a Guzzi, between this two, my choice would be for the Mandello which by the way is equipped with electronic suspension, I believe. Cheers and hope the weather cooperates!
Great review, thanks - nice to see one that's not from the recent launch in Spain! I have a '22 V85TT and love it - traded up from a V7iii with no regrets. I have no issues with the smaller display, I think it's 4.3"? All the info I need, very readable and I like the layout - I have pretty bad presbyopia and have no problem reading it without glasses. The only reason I'd like a larger display would be to integrate the warning lights around the small one, but that's really a nitpick. In response to another comment, the '24 V85 has some major changes: the new display and variable valve timing to name just 2.
Thank you. Yes, your 22 V85TT has a 4.3"TFT, the new 24 V85TT & Stelvio have a 5"TFT. Yea, I'm looking forward to doing a review of the new 24 V85! Take care, Scott
Loving when a bike makes you laugh! 👍👍 Indeed a tempting bike this Stelvio (not sure it's fair to compare it with the GS though) - Scott what's your view drawing a parallel with a Multi V2S? I'm with you on two things for sure: lower weight and active suspensions...A deal breaker? Maybe not, all considered based on your review, but when you're used to both, you kinda want it on all the bikes you think you'll buy 😂❤
Great review Scott - thank you. Does Guzzi have the km and time based ECU maintenance alerts that have to be reset by the dealer? This is an infuriating thing for me, as someone who does not take the bike to the dealer for service, but it is getting more and more popular with the euro brands in particular. This is something that should be covered in new bike reviews as it is becoming more and more engrained as time goes on.
Hi, Scott. Thanks a lot for your video and review. Very much entertaining and interesting. Regarding the weight, do you happen to know if the Stelvio's battery is a lithium one or a different technology? If not lithium, just changing the battery would yield maybe 4-5 kgs less. A small TFT, manual suspension and kind of weighty bike are, maybe, forgettable sins comparing the price tag, if the bike feels good for the rider. Anyhow, as I said, thanks for your opinion. Best regards.
No I don't know but if it was lithium, then they'd probably say it cause that is a premium item on bikes today. The 1300GS has a lithium battery, that was one of the changes to the new GS but the GS is also way more money than this. So...it was probably a cost save to keep the price down. Thanks for the encouragement and take care, Scott
Scott, I am really struggling to make a decision between Suzuki 1000GX and Stelvio. Smoothness and power on one side (and reliability I guess too) and Character and nice sound and feel of Stelvio. Come on help me 😂. Thank you
LOL! 😁 Bikes are like picking a girlfriend to have an affair with...which bike you cheat on your wife with is totally up to you 🤣🤣 But I'd go Italian, yes more maintenance but worth it 😊
Locally the Stelvio sells for 15.5k and the 1300 GS sells for 26k. You'll never find a base price and equipped GS here in New England. I see the Stelvio as a bargain; especially if you're like me and consider 115hp and 77ftlbs of torque to be plenty.
Well, I've been on many trips (loaded down with luggage) to the Alps and been on many harsh roads with my non-adjustable front suspension BMW 900XR to where I wished I could soften the compression and rebound and change the pre-preload. Sure one or two days of it was ok but after that it just really sucked, bad enough to where it was my number one driver for me to get ride of the 900XR after the second summer and second long trip to the Alps. Never again will I own a non-adjustable suspension. Manual is the minimum, electronic is better cause then I can change on the fly as the road surface changes. Having the suspension match the road surface, more tire patch contact, is a good thing. Take care, Scott
@@NothingToProveI agree 100%! I have a Tiger GT Explorer and the electronic suspension is so comfortable, you can set it to corner like it's on rails or be as comfortable as a lazy boy recliner. It really makes a difference after a long multi-day trip when everything hurts and you can set it to be nice and plush to get home in comfort!
Very good review! I would NEVER buy a bike with radar controlled cruise control--why in the world would anyone want to base their bike speed on the car in front of them? Have it on my car (Honda--all all models have this) and I hate it with a passion! I will not keep that Honda for that very reason--motorcycles do not need electronics controlling their movements--very dangerous in my opinion.
Amen to what you said. This absolute garbage tech is ruining new vehicles. Fortunately with bikes they don't need to try for ANCAP. Our safety rating system pushing car makers to put more and more of this nonsense on cars. It's why I absolutely will not by a car newer that what is currently 5 years old. New cars are about as appealing as drinking a cold glass of sick.
Is the gearing similar / identical to the V100? The V100 had very short / close gears, especially 4th, 5th, and 6th gear, does the Stelvio have the same issue? I don't understand the people at Moto Guzzi honestly, since the V85TT their transmissions have never been "travel friendly".
Good video I’ve got to agree with you on the wind protection. I also will agree with you on the premium motorcycle. Stelvio is down on horsepower. Also, it’s only a little bit more than the Suzuki V Strom 1050 on horsepower. it would be nice if it had a quick shifter even the Suzuki V Strom has that now that is the 1050. Enjoying your Sensi humor made me laugh.
got some doubts about those side pods sticking out high up looks like centre of gravity is high whereas most weight eg bonnevilles weight is centre dose not give me confidence
Great review, but I think buying the Stelvio is as much about taste and brand and less about the numbers, by the way have you ever tested the Yamaha Super Tenere ? The buyers of the Stelvio and the Super Tenere are more about the feel and reliability than speed, also remember that those bikes you seam to prefer are much more expensive, also the few kg difference you really don’t feel when they are rolling.
The design, especially from the side is wicked! Love it! So happy now that MG is making the effort to be at least a little more competitive and up to date in their own way. Their brand and history is a big seller for me. Now they need to work on making their V7 a little bigger. Dislike the spindly front suspension and tire they have on that thing. That said Im a sucker for a transverse twin. Just get a real kick out of being able to see the motor like you do when youre sitting on one.
Just FYI: I know that official KTM 1290 price is kinda high, but it feels like noone actually paying it. Cause they have discounts almost always, especially on previous year model (which are 100% same, except color) Last year, i got my 2022 SAS for 17500€ base price (from KTM Berlin). And with that info it became very competitive with Stelvio, cause KTM have adaptive cruise and electro suspension in base spec.
The face and general lines of the new Stelvio remind me of the Caponord ETV1000, a great great bike. Hopefully the Stelvio will get the same ‘Rally Raid’ treatment as the Aprilia did so it can comfortably compete with the more off-road oriented offerings from other brands. The Ohlins suspension on the Mandello is redundant, to put it politely. Don’t really see it adding much value to the Stelvio either.
ruclips.net/video/viWuolNYGyI/видео.htmlsi=KF4M8ljS2M_U2gqp Several times in the video, if you didn't notice it already, you probably don't know what to look for, so I included the link above. take care, Scott
It is for me, my eye sight is not what it used to be and I wear reading glasses but reading glasses under a helmet just don't work that well and the distance that a display is from the rider is in that zone to where it's not close enough to use them. Take care, Scott
That's why I'd buy the Stelvio. It's too heavy to take down some busted arzz road. But would make a great touring platform. Overall, as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing.

BMW GS seems grotesque and absurdly large. Stelvio is just right and a great value. The right bike for independent thinkers. Guzzi has soul.
I would have the Stelvio over the GS. One because it's a Guzzi and two because it's not a BMW. It has character and that equals fun.
Couldn't agree more!
No and most people must be agreeing since these are already discounted here and te BMW is out of stock and far more populiar
I think the exhaust swap to the left on the BMW was before the liquid cooled boxer. A year or two before im sure.
Considering that a Multistrada 1200S weight was 224K fully loaded, this engine is a pig.
That's a great looking bike. Always had a soft spot for Guzzi's since I heard that Daytona 1000 roar by all those years ago.

Maybe I will trade in my 5 year old full option gs 1250 for a brand new stelvio and pay almost nothing for this swap.
The Stelvio looks really nice. I’ve never ridden a guzzi but I’d love to give it a test ride..
Great Review.. I’m getting closer to my first Guzzi purchase, the Mandello or this….. ah choices.
One thing. Kinda wish moto guzzi on the afore mentioned would integrate their cables into the handlebars, thus cleaning up the look..
Keep on the Great work.
T
On the flipside they will be easier to replace.
i am a guzzi fan i love it❤
Not sure what Ducati you're mentioning in the video.
V4
@@NothingToProve Ok, thanks! Makes sense.
Danke Marcel! I like this bike! Once I sell the 1300GS, I think I'll consider this to be my next NTP Project bike 😊👍
Hello Scott , where do you have more emotions. Stelvio or 85 tt ? ✌️
Stelvio 👍👍👍👍
the windshield that would me hold up, nice video
Great looking bike but strange that my ride the Multi V2S was not included in your spec sheet, similar power and road biased but a lot lighter and a v twin even if it is in line with the frame. Certainly trying one of these next change…
The V2S is on the middleweight ADV chart, right next to the V85TT.
Today I’m picking up my GS1300 719ed and selling my V85TT. I loved the Guzzi for what it was but now happy I didn’t wait for the Stelvio
Less electronics the better in my opinion. Less stuff to go wrong. The stelvio looks fantastic. If the Moto Guzzi dealer in my area had good customer service I would consider one.
Great video Scott,
It seems the Stelvio even being a new bike with new motor and suspension still needs some refinement to catch up with the other boys..AT, VStrom, GS, Explorer etc...
Take care,
Scott
Really nice machine, well done moto guzzi...
Hi Scott,
Thanks for the Stelvio review.
Thank you! Yes, same powertrain and yes, the Mandello S has the electronic suspension, so they'll just put that suspension on this 👍👍
Take care,
Scott
Take care,
Scott
My 2023 1250 R/T has rattles up front too I can hear them the saddle bag left side is also loose in the mount.
I prefer to have fewer electronics. So thumb up.
Up there with the Africa Twin for great looks.
Thanks for the encouragement and take care,
Scott
Thanks again.
Thanks for the video. To me, I would buy it if they have provided electronic suspensions. So let’s wait the next version !
Next year...at least that's what Moto Guzzi is saying 👍👍
A carefully designed fork by good engineers does not even need the possibility to adjust it! Electronic suspension is just an expensive gimmick.
and something else to go wrong! Tried the Tiger and 1300GS and too much tech for me.
Take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProveI agree 100%! I have a Tiger GT Explorer and the electronic suspension is so comfortable, you can set it to corner like it's on rails or be as comfortable as a lazy boy recliner. It really makes a difference after a long multi-day trip when everything hurts and you can set it to be nice and plush to get home in comfort!
Exhaust is on the other to the swingarm to balance the weight
Excellent review!! You are so lucky to have had the opportunity to test drive!! Will the electronic suspension make so much difference? Why?
Yes, it does! I used to think that it does not matter but then I started riding bikes with it. I'll never go back to manual.
Moto Guzzi - been doing that since 1965. Now that's more than just confidence. 🤣🤣😂
I own a 2022 V85TT and 2018 V7III. I find the Stelvio interesting, but my closest dealer is dropping the entire Paggio line.
TDM headlight (which is good) but a little bit...short bike. Don't you think?
But overall a nice looking machine (100 times better than the 1300GS)
The design, especially from the side is wicked! Love it! So happy now that MG is making the effort to be at least a little more competitive and up to date in their own way. Their brand and history is a big seller for me. Now they need to work on making their V7 a little bigger. Dislike the spindly front suspension and tire they have on that thing. That said Im a sucker for a transverse twin. Just get a real kick out of being able to see the motor like you do when youre sitting on one.
I insist on a shaft drive bike for occasional off pavement riding, below 20k in price. Is there a better choice?
Just FYI:
I know that official KTM 1290 price is kinda high, but it feels like noone actually paying it. Cause they have discounts almost always, especially on previous year model (which are 100% same, except color)
Last year, i got my 2022 SAS for 17500€ base price (from KTM Berlin).
And with that info it became very competitive with Stelvio, cause KTM have adaptive cruise and electro suspension in base spec.
I've taken this bike for a test ride and please help me understand how to deploy hazard lights?!?!?! Thank you!
There are no hazard lights in this bike.
Woooow!❤
The face and general lines of the new Stelvio remind me of the Caponord ETV1000, a great great bike. Hopefully the Stelvio will get the same ‘Rally Raid’ treatment as the Aprilia did so it can comfortably compete with the more off-road oriented offerings from other brands.
The Ohlins suspension on the Mandello is redundant, to put it politely. Don’t really see it adding much value to the Stelvio either.
Dash screen size should be diopter-dependent, I guess? 5in +/- 1in per D.
Or just wear glasses/lenses/lasic, as per the road rules.
Did you really shift without the clench ????

Several times in the video, if you didn't notice it already, you probably don't know what to look for, so I included the link above.
take care,
Scott
Nice review and I have always liked Guzzi but I would never buy an Italian ADV bike even for light weight ADV duties every now and then
Lovely bike but why didnt you rev it more? Guzzis love to rev and there was a lot of short shifting going on. Great review though thanks.
The bike was not broke-in yet. I was the second person on it, the head mechanic was the first, so I was being nice to the dealership 😊
Why you have Super Tenere on the list since it's not offered for the last couple years....
I'm old school. Why is a big screen so important?
It is for me, my eye sight is not what it used to be and I wear reading glasses but reading glasses under a helmet just don't work that well and the distance that a display is from the rider is in that zone to where it's not close enough to use them.
Take care,
Scott
The GS is not an adventurebike anymore 😞 , it is a touringsportbike now .
That's why I'd buy the Stelvio. It's too heavy to take down some busted arzz road. But would make a great touring platform. Overall, as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing.
