I was thinking that when listening to the song. Jay-Z comes across as a phony to me and even as a rapper I think he's pretty average but then again I mostly know his big hits and the beats were always fire. Then he went super weird with his Crowley BS - it gives credence to what they say about the entertainment industry, i.e. you gotta bend over if you wanna sign the contract... Look into Crowley and what he was into. Who would wanna represent that on a clothing line? That's far away from "the hood"... Sign a deal with the devil, welcome to the club. He becomes a billionaire and he was average. A sell out I suppose. This was a banger when it came out but it doesn't sound the same. Jay-Z is a weirdo.
