Hi Jordy just want to pass this along. I was in a second hand store just browsing and walked past a pile of table legs. Started to walk past them and it hit me.
I went back a bought 8 legs for $1.00 a piece. I have always liked working with wood. But when I saw your videos now I have all kinds of things running through my head.
Anyways I took off the varnish and or paint. And now I have a nice solid piece of wood for carving and you can cut the leg in half and now you have two. Very little burring which is nice.
Keep your beginners coming and I like the time you spend explaining things. I will follow and start and stop my phone.
I live in NC retired and fully enjoy your videos
    Robo

Hi Jordy I have a suggestion for you - Im a sign carver and I thought you might want an easier way to transfer letters to wood, when you make a template like Corey, make it so the letters are reversed. You then put the paper down on the wood and just tape the top of it. Then take a rag and put some lacquer thinner on it not too much) and then wipe the rag on the paper and then use a credit card or something with a good edge. The letters will come off really clear and then you are ready to carve. BTW great sign especially with the wood spirit on the side. Wish I had your talent for making wood spirits. Burt in Chilliwack

Btw that is definitely pine as it's exactly same stuff I used today with the little line grain in for my first Shou Sugi Ban wood spirit and a point to remember is when doing that is it burns all your fine details away smh ( I know that now lol) ! I have a Wen rotary tool with a flex shaft and just got a Dremel and flex shaft because the hand piece on the Wen gets hotter than the hinges of hell. The Dremel isn't as fast as the Wen. Better grip on the Dremel though. The Wen with a flex shaft and a bunch of bits was cheaper than the Dremel flex shaft. Lol. Good buy for a beginner though; just don't run it past five or it'll burn the piss out of you.
