“It’s not going to look like mine, it’s going to look like yours.” Need to trademark that phrase! The bob ross of dremel! Amazing video! And very appreciative of coming across this video!
I tried a wood spirit - I have never carved in my life.. I'm a 60 yr old woman and my hands dont work very good.. well, I followed very slowly what he said, and it turned out pretty dam good. Yes anyone can do this!
Idk if it’s your voice, technique, artistic abilities, or combo of all plus more but this is probably the best how to video I have ever watched and I appreciate you so much for taking time to make it for us. Your awesome.
Hello Jordy, I’ve been following you for quite some time, it was your video that got me into carving 5-6 years ago. At 70 I’m slowly getting to where it’s tough to work with my hands, but turn on the dust collector, headphones and I’m lost in the world of carving for hours. Thanks for your advice, ideas! Your good Colorado carving buddy bikingmike
Thank you for being so upbeat and encouraging! I’m an old lady who is just getting into woodcarving and have everything to learn. You make it seem possible that I can learn what I need to know! Appreciate your teaching techniques.
Just be careful, those burrs can really do damage to your hands. Be sure to have a firm grip on the power head, and clamp the workpiece down securely. Wear safety glasses and protect from dust for breathing.
It's great that you get others to believe they can do it too, all good coaches teach us there's more in ourselves than we knew was there... Thanks for showing us how
Amazing to think- that face was always in that piece of driftwood, it was just waiting there, for years and years, for you to come along and reveal it to us. 👍🇬🇧
At 70 I'm ready for a new adventure/hobby. Fairly inexpensive, and entirely possible with your videos. Now to get my daughter to buy me a nice dremel setup for Christmas. Should get more use than the $600 I spent on an electric guitar setup a couple years ago that now sits and collects dust. With this, I can make dust. lol
I fell asleep watching a different youtube video on Dremel Accessories, woke up to this one. Started it over and watched from the beginning and all I can say is, I like you, my wife. is not going to because guess who just picked up a new hobbie?! Ive never done wood carving before, never thought about wood carving, but I dig your video and your style so F it, ima give it ago. THANKS!
You're absolutely an inspiration. You have me making beautiful wood spirits in my first attempts! Absolutely incredible instructional ability. I will buy you a coffee or two my friend
Man one of the best tutorials I've ever seen, thank you. You actually explain everything perfectly and make me feel like I could actually do this. Cheers
I just ordered my first Kutzall burrs! I used your link and discount code, thank you. This is my second project. It ain't going great but it'll turn out alright in the end. No mistakes, only revisions!
I don’t know why RUclips recommended this video, I’m just fortunate that it did. I have owned a Dremel for probably two decades, and never really considered trying to carve with it. I have only used it as a utility tool for cutting or sanding. Thank you very much for the fantastic tutorial!
I’m getting ready to retire and I have always had a interested in wood carving. Years ago, a cedar tree had fallen at a church in our area, it was really old, and I was given a 4 ft piece Right away I removed the bark and started carving with a chisel and a pocket knife, I carved a nose and eyes, a knot in the log became the nose. It was looking good. I went trucking and thought about my log all week. I got home the following weekend and was ready to get to work. When I saw my log it had cracked right down the middle of the face. I learned the lesson about letting the wood season . January the 5th I will throw the keys away to the big truck, a friend gave me a seasoned 4 foot cedar log. I watched this video and Brother you have given this old man inspiration. And a new purpose in life. I may be wrong but I’m assuming you are Canadian. I use to truck to a place called Oakville, north of Buffalo. I sure miss the Tim Horton coffee and fresh made Blue berry bagel. I’m Tom, Thank You Man
3 more days, and no more Trailer trucking. Jordy, today the carving gods were with me, yes I had fun, I am so glad I landed on your space, You have inspired and got me motivated, And I had to get on here and thank you again. Once I get on top of the carvers mountain I’ll add a video on here. You are a very talented man . Thanks Man. 😊
I’ve been retired for 3 wks, and I’ve watched this video many times. I wanted to share a picture of things I’ve done. But youtube wants a video. I will create one and share it with you. You are very inspiring. And a good teacher. I’d love to meet and shake hands with you. But I doubt I’ll ever get up your way. . Have a great day and stay warm. Tom
Thanks for your lessons. I finally carved my first wood spirit using this video to guide me along. All I had was a nice 14" length of black walnut that I split in half. It's about 14" high and about 4" wide. I'm very happy with how it came out and think I found something new that I love to do. On my Facebook post of it, I tagged and thanked you. Maybe you'll pick up a few more followers.
I've become completely addicted to wood carving since I realized I can actually do this. This video made it possible. I've watched others but none compare to your step by step instruction and encouragement. I've done a few of these now and each one is better than the last. I'm finding noses are my biggest challenge
I’m an Art Director and 3D-artist by trade and so I work all digital. Ofcourse I draw on paper, too. But I really appreciate when someone os good at doing something hand crafted, be it sculpting, candy making or wood carving. And you sir are a master at your trade.
That is a nice bit. I'm going to need to get me one of them! I have never carved a wood spirit, I have carved several tiki totems. Similar but different. I'm going to take my cordless and carve one into a tree where I live. I live in the Pacific Northwest so there's an abundance of large trees around. I will be moving in the next couple months so it'll be something for the next people to find.
JORDY!! Okay ... So I was sitting around thinking about a new hobby I want to get into. I was always amazed by chainsaw carvings which led me to your videos. Within 10 minutes of watching this video I was ordering tools. Long story short, a week later and I have carved my first spirit and its so cooooooool!! I’m 78 and love my Dremel tool but never did any carving! What a blast I might have and I’m a female! So enjoyable watching you. Thanks for the excellent instruction. Ps, love the spiral design!
Thanks again Jordy. I started carving after watching a 3 piece video for beginners made by you. That’s what got me inspired. Every video that you put out, especially those for beginners always help me to improve. 😊
I’m wanting to learn how to do this carving technique. This video is amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing and I love the encouragement you have given me.
This is absolutely fantastic!!! You have a great teaching technique!! I have a Dremil tool that I do so many things with but never had anyone with such a wonderful teaching technique to make me want to pick up wood and want to carve even more than I used to. I even use my Dremil tool to trim my Great Dane's toes with it. I absolutely love the look of faces carved out of wood.
I bought a Foredom to carve a driftwood/rootwad waterfall for my Koi pond. I believe a wood spirit would go well next to it in the garden. Awesome tutorial, thank you kindly! Cheers.

Another awesome demonstration video Jordie - very inspirational
Thank you
This is absolutely fantastic!!!

Cheers.
