  • Long time no see! In this video I'll shed some light on what's been going on in my life. Lots of changes, lots of work to do, lots of new ideas :)
The 1st music is my own composition, and the second piece is from The Open Goldberg Variations by pianist Kimiko Ishizaka. (opengoldbergvariations.org/)

That was a surprising monologue! 🙂 I came here, because at first RUclips recommended me the disc throwing simulation video. Then I watched the disc throwing development video and then I find a discussion about the "non-dualistic state of consciousness"! 🙂
I have not read about Harding before (I just read something and also his description about the "moment of discovery") and I've encountered Sam Harris only a couple of times on the Internet. But what here is said and written is really interesting.
I've studied these things for the past 40 years. I had my "moment of discovery" in June 1984, not in the Himalayas, but on a summer(!) night like two kilometers from the place where I grew up in Tampere, Finland. I think you have all that you need at that point, but then most of us need some practice, just like in disc throwing. And the practice is meditation. 🙂 And proper meditation is taught and learned in "spiritual movements" - proper spiritual movements, not like the fake ones - so it might be a good idea not to avoid exploring them.
Reading western writers is sort of easy, and not frightening, but unfortunately they are usually not going to the point, not deep enough or go around is circles and they don't seem to have models that would explain what that kind of "no head" feelings etc. even are.🙂
I personally started my meditation in high school age some 40+ years ago, but I was too young them. Later I realized that I need to do it more, because that will take me to that point - which is inside us. One way is to go on asking all the time "what am I" like Harding was doing and that is a basic question, but there are better ways and philosophies to tackle that phase. 🙂
I started with trancendental meditation, and that sort of gave me that one special moment, but after I switched to Ananda Marga meditation in 1987 and learned to do practices more holistically, such moments are not rare at all. 🙂 I can't even tell how many times I've felt like that - although the first, "spontaneous" time of course felt special. 🙂
Feel free to contact me if you like to know more - or if you not so surprisingly like to watch videos, Dada Satyamitra has a nice way to explain the system I've followed for over 35 years: ruclips.net/video/6zgOSeClsP0/видео.html

You're on the right path man, you are very smart and creative and sometimes maybe you should just take a break, and focus on the positive things and maybe try some calisthenics for getting in the present, anyways great content! don't be to nihilistic either, purpose and presence is found in being there for your family and helping others I would guess! I appreciate you're videos, thanks.

Hi, I have been wondering the same, and to this day I love thinking about the state of consciousness and how is it related to what we percieve. However the only time I was truly 'now and here' just like a newborn child, without thinking of time and "me", was when I ate mushrooms, I know it might sound cheesy, but maybe you should try it, to see life without the concepts of what things are, that your brain was taught from the start. Some people can achieve similar peace meditating but it would probably take me 200 years to achieve it ;) Since then I kind of understood where those questions came from, and it changed my life for better. I never comment in the internet but it just hit me as the answer to your questions. Glad to see you doing well, its so beautifull in Finland, reminds me of my childhood, wish you very best, Gabriel.

Thanks a lot for the comment! Yeah, I've read a lot about mushrooms and other drugs, how they effect the perception. I agree that it's probably a very effective way of getting a glimpse of that state of mind, but for now I'm on a mission to accomplish the same without drugs :) I'll at least see how far I can get in a decade or two.. Maybe I'll reconsider if it starts to seem seriously out of reach, but for now I'm happy with the slow progress I'm making with mindfulness/meditation practices.
I hope you're doing well, too!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's definitely a juggle between work, home life and passions/hobbies during these busy years. One just has to try their best to decide how to allocate the time. Then again, the "busy years" is just a thought pattern, and the real treasure is to find the moment one is currently in :)
      Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment! I've got plenty of things to say, but for the last year I haven't really had a good space (and enough time) to make high quality videos. I'm building a small studio for myself right now, and will hopefully be able to start producing videos more steadily, starting from January! :) It's awesome to see that there are people who're still interested to see new videos!
