It was a joy to watch the conductor dancing in his own Dionysiac frenzy, and the musicians keeping up magnificently.
I just had my first experience meeting a Romanian lady and asked her about leading classical music composers from Romania (knowing as I did, very little). She suggested this very piece and I must say I was thrilled by every aspect of this presentation, from the exciting beauty of the piece, and the joyful enthusiasm of the entire orchestra. Very uplifting!

I'm 73 and I remember this piece from way back, around 10. I marvelled at it then and I still do. How could Enescu have so many changes in the piece and yet make it an enduring one that will be around for a long time to come. A very positive and lively piece of music. Bravo to the orchestra and conductor.
Enescu didn't compose in a void. His work is to a large extent inspired by Romanian folk music. Romanian culture - music included - gathered lots of influences from many cultures it came into (most often brutal) contact with, but had about a thousand years to properly integrate and harmonize them - that's what Enescu built on.
I am Romanian and whenever I feel homesick I listen to this because it takes me back home from one. corner of the country to the other. Enescu basically put together sounds and rithms from different regions, blending them marvelously!

I loved this piece of music since I heard it on the radio in 1977 when I was 19. The music uses Hora as the rhythm to reflect the strong Romanian folk music style. When the famous folk music “Skylark” appear as the climax of the music which feeling very exciting.❤🎉
I was introduced to this beautiful composition in my infancy, I am now 67. This and a lot of great works sre the standard by which I compare ALL music that enters into the realm of my interest. My gratitude to my parents for the exposure to wonderful music as well as the other arts.
Just played this at TMEA Region Orchestra with Professor Jacob Harrison (who, by the way, is an amazing conductor) and I must say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. Not only were the people amazing, but the piece is so much fun to play and sounds absolutely divine. Enescu created a true masterpiece, and I consider myself lucky to have been able to play it with an amazing group of people.
They played it at all-state too, are you in the region that plays the philharmonic Orchestra’s piece every year? Also did Dr Rocha conduct, because he teaches in my city.

The viola is the Rumanian National Folk Instrument. Notice how Enescu gave the Principal Violist this beautiful solo. Enescu's viola solo is often used by major orchestras as an audition excerpt, so many violists learn it at their university music school.

One of my favorite pieces EVER! Love how it builds slowly to the unmatched, driving exuberance later on...with those "dat-dat-dat-dat" lines in the brass and the swirling strings...I have to just MOVE every time I hear it. Thank you, George!!!

Absolute genius. You can tell that he was young when he made this piece by the youthful exuberance in certain parts. It's playful, even boisterous at times. Almost like he was trying to make it more difficult just to tease those musicians who attempted to play it.
This is one of my favourite pieces of music. When I first heard it I just stopped, listened and thought Oh my Lord where has this come from. You have put Romania on the map with this one Mr. Enescu.!

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Balkans, madame! And there's only a very small part of Romania in the Balkans, which is Dobrogea, from the Eastern side! The rest of Romania is Carpathian, not Balkanic!🇷🇴
As it's getting on toward autumn, and I've just been watching a cozy video about Ukrainian homemaking and cooking, I was in the mood to hear Romanian Rhapsody 1. I've loved this piece since I heard it in elementary school back in the 1960's. The piece is so evocative of a sunny autumn day at first, then I think of sunset and wild celebration. Just loved hearing it again!

One of the greatest to walk the earth...I've visited his memorial house in my hometown, Sinaia, very often, lovely piece of architecture with a stunning view but you should see his room: small, simple, without distractions, a mark of a modest genius. This piece never gets old

I wish to thank my parents, as crazy as they were, for playing beautiful music in the home from my birth. This one work is the orchestration that ricochets in my head and helps to keep grounded so the rotation of the earth doesn't send me flying into space. Kidding! One of the greatest to walk the earth...I've visited his memorial house in my hometown, Sinaia, very often, lovely piece of architecture with a stunning view but you should see his room: small, simple, without distractions, a mark of a modest genius. This piece never gets old

If this doesn't SMASH, and CRASH at your soul, then you're made of STONE. I've heard this, since the 1970s when I was about 20 years old. Even then, this rhapsody is HARD to conduct and keep up with it.

I wish to thank my parents, as crazy as they were, for playing beautiful music in the home from my birth. This one work is the orchestration that ricochets in my head and helps to keep grounded so the rotation of the earth doesn't send me flying into space. Kidding! It is an important element of my life's memories. Thanx folks!!
