Thanks for this. Unfortunately, I used thick (Hometown - LionBrand) yard and my cast off is a bit tight. Hence difficult to pull the wrapped around yarn through on the other side while picking up stitches. I find that so difficult to do after knitting such a lovely sweater. Now I am stuck at the neck area lol :))
Thanks for the helpful video. Would this be the best method to use when picking up stitches for a collar that you want to stand up (without flopping over) such as on a on a man’s cardigan?
So glad you found it helpful! You could use this method for your example, but what will keep it standing up will be more related to the stitch pattern. A dense, unrolling stitch pattern would be the way to go (so not stockinette stitch). I hope that helps!
It is an interesting way of picking up vertical/slanted stitches around your neckline. Usually they are picked up in the ditch between the first and second stitch, but in your video it seems like you have picked up one leg of the first edge stitch and one leg of the second stitch. Unless I did not see it correctly?
I usually pick up both legs of a "v", but not including the very edge stitch. I've tried a bunch of different methods and this is the one I tend to like the best (but it's just one of many different ways I've seen!).
No one has explained how to pick up extra stitches round neckline than there are bound off stitches. ie: only 36 bound off stitches, pick up and knit 46 stitches??
A crochet hook can definitely be helpful! I actually just did a video all about it recently - here is the link in case it's helpful to anyone else :) ruclips.net/video/SS8uGm-rf1k/видео.html
Thank you so much this is a great tutorial I have always had issues doing this.

what do you call the knit pattern for the sweater? I like the bumps on it.

What is the length of the circular needle ghat you are using? I have to use two, because what I am using is not right!
I used a 16” length 😀

Are you left handed?
I'm not, but I definitely utilize my left hand a lot when working my knitting (usually using it as a guide, especially when picking up stitches).
It would be so much easier to use a crochet hook to pick up stitches. It is less fiddly.
