Thank you so much for the excellent instructions for picking up and finishing neck. I was totally lost as never used circular needles before! Instructions were clear an ro the point ( no pun intended!), unlike so many who waffle on and on. 🙏

if I'm ribbing rather than doing garter stitch at the neckline - then when I get to the ones that are held on the needle do I knit them off in rib? You did it in plain stitch because you were doing a garter stitch edge?

Hi Joan. You will knit the sts on holder unless the pattern says Patt across or rib across.
If your sweater is in stocking stitch just knit the sts on the holder.
If your sweater is in rib st all over sometimes the designer will want you to rib the sts.
I'm guessing in your case it will be ok just to knit them

Miss a row, so say you have 10 stitches and you want five, then knit into every second row. I’ve stopped counting the stitches round the neckband (other than to ensure each side is equal), but go with the neatest looking number of stitches it takes while being a good fit to stretch over the head.

Frankly, the end result looked awful - just like my own effort! I was hoping for a tip so there wouldn’t be the large holes left from making new stitches!

I was thinking the same too…I’m looking for a way to pick up and not have the holes as this is what happens with me and it proper annoys me

When the product is washed, all the loops will be leveled and there will be no holes

You’re right. There will be no holes. You’ll see at the end project.

For me it never looks right as I’m doing it, but I have learned to ignore and carry on. The ‘holes’ seem to vanish, but if there is a gap, it is easy to run a darning thread through when the garment is made up to disguise it. Remember you will be using a matching colour. The contrast shown in the video only highlights it! Hope this helps.
