    The story and worldbuilding in this are borderline non-existent after the first 3 episodes. the humor is okay, and the dialogue and character interactions are okay. I smirked and smiled at some of the scenes and found them fun. The action is decent, i like how they utilize POV shots etc, but it isn't anything crazy good.
    It's a decent show that is currently only carried by the character cast and their interactions with each other and the world; if that is the only thing that keeps this show going till the end of the season, then it will be immediately forgettable and not something anyone will even talk about after it ends.
    I don't hate it, but I just had much higher hopes for what it could have been or shown us to be with a 3 episode premiere like this.

      People are forgetting this is "Suicide Squad". It will hit it's stride once it's start killing off notable characters. Also they aired the 3 episode mostly in the same reason as Vinland Saga aired the 1st 5 episode at once. Since that basically sets the story toward at least something.

      The 1st 3 ep seemed like a meandering mess. Get thrown in prison, out of prison, find a place to hunker down, only to go back to Queen that imprisoned them and by choice, send 1 person actually back to prison, finally get translation magic in 2nd half of ep 3.
      It's like the western and anime sides were fighting against each other creatively the whole way instead of coming together to make something.

    • @Snzn18
      @Snzn18 29 дней назад

      @@michaels9595 Really, I find it rather interesting since the DC characters being heavily western and military minded, they avoided going through redoing "basic Isekai tropes" and most of the characters not being so very into exploring the magic system of the world avoid the "overly focus on the magic system having a big portion of the early episodes"
      In some ways the setting is rather similar to Gate, but it got through a lot of the isekai trope of gathering the harem characters, saving the princess, be treated as the heroes etc. etc. mostly because the MC despite being a high ranking military man is unapologetically a weeb at heart.
      I guess since the show, avoided a lot of the basics of isekai tropes despite having a very generic isekai world made it feels off to a lot of people. But for me that made the show rather interesting to me. Since their are isekai shows that give us MC that don't give a shit on being the hero or beating the demon lord, all of them still end up doing those any way in their story.
      And from what we can clue in, the first batch of the suicide sqaud went the tropey route and they are trying to abuse the magic system of the isekai world.

    • @michaels9595
      @michaels9595 28 дней назад

      @@Snzn18 i really wanted to see them do the isekai thing though. SS in isekai. Too many steps of subversion for me right now.
      And if i try to appreciate it at face value for what it is, I'm bothered that they went back to the queen in handcuffs willingly in ep 3. I feel like the writing shouldn't have had them leave the castle in the first place without speaking to the queen. Unbelievable that SS would give themselves up like that.
      And then not figuring out that they have magic until ep 3? And 30 some hours remaining on their timer? That felt way too long. And ep 1 and ep 2 feel wasted cause it didn't really progress until ep 3. So weird pacing.
      Some things like that are not gel-ing for me right now. Hope it picks up in ep 4.

    It’s possible that Tappei might introduce some dark twists in episodes 4-6, which could add a layer of intrigue to the series.
    However, given that the show is based on a specific IP (Intellectual Property), it might adhere closely to its established storyline and themes, limiting the potential for unexpected deviations. This balance between creative freedom and staying true to the source material often shapes the direction and surprises within such adaptations.

    • @Snzn18
      @Snzn18 29 дней назад

      they are kinda clever of connecting Enchantress to the Isekai world though, like they used her lore of being possesed by some entity from another world/dimension, which the anime use for being able to integrate "isekai" to DC.
      They also give King Shark Isekai regenration so he is basically Wolverine/hulk and Aquaman combine in his Isekai iteration.
      Also Tappei's writing will show its colors once it starts killing off characters cause its suicide squad. It won't be suicide squad if none of them will die.

      That’s the problem with writing for the likes of DC or Marvel, you can’t actually write what you want. It’s like the companies that make statues & figures of the DC characters, you can’t sell the figures with guns. McFarlane toys made an action figure of Flashpoint Batman without his guns, ridiculous as guns are a huge part of his character.
      Same with writing a story, there will be a massive list of things you can’t do.

    This is just funny how people are not feeling the obvious twist that is very "basic to Suicide Squad".
    I advice people to hold their horses until the anime "begin killing off the DC characters". That is the hook of a Suicide squad story
    The show being relatively safe is like the calm before the storm. And it is typical Tappei to hits its story stride once it gets to the twist.
    Also I feel like the restruction with this show is kinda lax that how people are thinking. Like just look at "Clayface", he definitely don't look like comics Clayface and the anime also tweaked his backstory to fit him being Handsome in the anime version.
    The other cast are more so just heavily inspired with their DC movie counterpart.
    Also people do need to be mindful that this story is basocally utilizing already well known existing characters, like would want let us say Luffy to be not depicted like Luffy in any One Piece adaptation.??

      Clayface looks plently like Clayface... when he's in his mud form. He was always an actor, so I have no problem with him being depicted as a pretty boy. It fits. What kind of actor wouldn't be attractive? The difference is that he's able to maintain his form and that he's not a well-known actor. Which I'm also fine with, as it fits with the whole theme of the Suicide Squad members often being losers in some way for humor reasons.

    • @Snzn18
      @Snzn18 Месяц назад

      @@SpiderboyN2Jesus my point with the Clayface bit, is that since the criticisms for the show is that it feels like they have "heavy restrictions" is that the show had a lot of liberties with Clayface. yes I rechecked Clayface is an actor, but most of the Human faces they had depicted him is that "he is still not that handsome".
      And his powers is more like a permanent thing to him like the case with Fantastic 4 The Thing. Like if he reverts back to human form then that means he lost his powers.
      I wasn't saying that the anime Clayface is bad, I am using it as a reference that the anime don't mind tweaking the DC characters.

    • @SpiderboyN2Jesus
      @SpiderboyN2Jesus Месяц назад

      @@Snzn18 I don't know about comics Clayface, but in BTAS, he was able to take on a human form all the time. He just couldn't maintain it for very long. It took intense focus and he couldn't keep it up for long. So it's not that crazy, imo 🤷🏻‍♂️.
      As for his attractiveness, in BTAS, at least, he had a condition that was causing his looks to degrade over time. Only a certain chemical that allowed him to mold his face allowed him to maintain his looks for the camera. Ironically, the chemical/cream was actually making his condition worse. So he certainly wasn't unattractive (aside from his condition) 🤷🏻‍♂️.
      It's anime. Drawing out his attractiveness makes sense, imo 🤷🏻‍♂️. And he's often at least somewhat vain anyway as an actor. Again, I think it makes sense to ramp that up in an anime, as well 🤷🏻‍♂️.

      @Snzn18 Месяц назад +1

      Comic Clayface at least from the ones I had seen and so did in the first Clayface appeareance in the comics.
      Clayface basically is a B-list Horror Villain actor. The Irony of his story is more of him actually becoming the very Horror Villain character he was playing.
      I guess that is why Clayface were not really that actractive from the iterations I know Clayface was in. Since in those he was the stereotypical bulky bully looking dude.

  • @ProtoNecron

    • @Snzn18
      @Snzn18 Месяц назад +1

      They have, lol they did "add the fact that they got enhanced and can do magic by being in the Isekai world". The story just hadn't reach the point wheret they explore most of those.
      Like as Clayface explained his situation, basically he can now control clay that is not from his body. King shark got Isekai regeneration, Harley Quinn recieved something like Weapon enhancement thing going on??.
      Ratcatcher is now able to control more than just Rats.
      Character wise, look at Clayface. Comic Clayface isn't a "handsome dude", the dude was ugly in the comics. Making Clayface "handsome", and they tweaked his backstory to match his Handsome physique by having him be an actor is "creative freedom".
      The story is not yet at the point where these just come to play fully yet. Also it's suicide squad and the moment they start killing off important characters then that point should be the plausible time to judge the show.

      Well, at least he was before he turned into Clayface. And since he IS a shapeshifter, I really don´t see the need to make him ugly. (Yes, yes, stick to the source material when needed. But as you said, "creative freedom" and all that.)

      @@johnyshadow yeah, sadly most iteration that I know him of is mostly him being a melted version of the Thing and the only human face I ever sam him is either an ugly bald dude or an NPC looking bald dude.

    Corporate intent = creates corporate product.
    This isn't surprising.
    While I don't really care for this series, the IP, or western cartoon shows too much in general, I'm concerned about WB moving forward with this.
    I hate the fact that American companies are pretty much setting up shop in the Japanese market because _"hurr-durr_ anime is popular, it makes money, and we want some of that money." We already had a debacle with American credit card companies censoring Japanese art. Now we're gonna have an American studio company waltz right on and start telling Japanese studios how to make anime by commission.
    Is that exaggerated? Probably, but not out of the possibility.
    In short, I don't like this.
    It's just a stone throw's away at damn near buying out part of the industry.
    And in case I have to remind you, American companies pretty much treat Japanese companies like shit, just ask Tango Gameworks which was axed by Microsoft.
    It doesn't help that the obsessively bad decision making in the U.S. when it comes to managing entertainment tends to fall flat on it's ass. A lot of these former big time studio companies are either going bankrupt, or having to deal with asset sales, or mergers.
    WB lost over $200Mil just on a video game alone that:
    • No one asked for.
    • No one liked.
    • No one plays.
    Can you guess the name of that video game?
    Suicide Squad: Kill the justice League.
    Don't get me started on where to begin with that mess, but let's just say that people have had enough of this IP, and this last push that left everyone familiar with it a very sour taste in their mouths. So just a guess, I don't think very many _"anime fans"_ be it newbies/normies, veterans, or posers are gonna bother with this series.

    It hasn't clicked for me ...
    Ok... it doesn't look half bad if we ignore that someone pukes color across the screen.
    They nailed Harley, she's fun ... but that's it.
    The same recycled bomb-in-the-neck-story as before, just with another world. It's "ok" at best ... Looking back at the last seasons it's kinda bottom-of-the-barrel for me personally.
    Nothing more than a cash grab

      Yeah but I hope they at least made Harley more than oooh look crazy boss chick.
      Insert every insane girl trope. From Jinx to Yuno they are a thousand times more interesting then modern day Harley.
      They each are made for their stories and taking them out of it is almost impossible.

      It was obviously because the Gang got enhanced by magic by being in that isekai world.
      The rest of the cast "did not question" it since they basically know nothing about each other at that point.
      The same reason why they don't question how Clayface got additional powers since they just thought he can do those to begin with.

    Isekai is the best genre. U influncers need to stop projecting ur bias on the rest of us. Everything dosen't need to be shonen fights all day. Some people like world building.

      Isekai are not the best genre it’s the same basic thing story of someone being the strongest most of the time and they have a harem it’s so repetitive that’s most of them are just the same with different characters

      Dude, one of my friends is a Gundam fan. He is outright sick and tired of Isekai. He wants Sci-fi shows. There's VERY LITTLE of those nowadays. I kinda tend to agree with him. Back in the day we had tons of amazing science fiction shows with their own world, like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, Megazone 23, Dominion Tank Police, Captain Harlock, etc. I can keep going with this list. Nowadays every single season is full of OP characters transported to another world that is generally a Fantasy world, just with some tiny twist. We are lucky if we get anything in the Sci-fi genre every other season now.
      Honestly for me I prefer generic Fantasy, no other world adventure. Frieren is an example of an actual Fantasy, done correctly. You don't need every single character to be some transplant from our world. Heck, the only thing this season I'm really excited for is Wistoria.

      @@radiermag only someone who doesn't watch Isekai would say that. The frame can sometimes be the same. But what happens inside the sandbox is rarely the same. Slime is building a nation. Log horizon built a civilization. Re zero has been traveling the world. And tne B tiers do a bunch of different random things with modern knowledge.
