I used to be a metalhead. I’m still running all these pedals into the clean channel of a 6505+ but I’m playing a telecaster and doing ambient full time the last couple of years. Chords or Orion was a huge influence. I’m going to subscriber here too
I found out how amazing reverb into delay was by chance. I by accident had put the delay Before the reverb and I didn’t realize I had done this. I was getting this incredible ambient sound and my role in this musical situation was to be the spacey ambient volume swell with slide guitar guy. Lol...Everyone was commenting on how amazing it sounded and asked what I was running, I looked down at my pedals to begin explaining my signal chain and then I realized my reverb was running into the delay. This was an aha moment for me to say the least... great tutorial, I have many of the pedals you are using here and appreciate you sharing, yet again another great vid.

I had used my reverb + delay pedal early in the chain (after compressor) for lead work but not for drones to extend modulation. I hadn't ever thought of this. Damn. My Mr. Black Supermoon I just sold would have been perfect for this.
Haha! Thanks, dude! And yeah, would be rad with some gear nerdy neighbours. That way we didn't have to worry about noise complaints. We would simply understand each other 😂☺
Totally agree on reverb before the delay. Essentially the delay acts as a sustainer of the reverb effect, like a drone. Delay before reverb just makes the room sound bigger. So it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Another cool trick is to go straight Tame Impala and put a dynacomp after the reverb to super sustain it.
Better late than never. Kudos men..After seeing your video I finally found the tone I want. Here's my signal chain. Xotic Sp>Little Green Wonder>OCD>MXR Reverb>Phase 90>Flashback X4>
Great rundown video. Thanks! I really dig putting the delay before my modulation because it does accentuate the delayed signal as it’s passing through my phaser/flanger/tremolo/chorus. I’ve been doing it that way for a while now. My friend told me about it a few years ago. I do a lot of ambient/reggae delayed sounds so it sounds cool doing it this way. It’s sort of like the modulation is warping the delayed sound and you can manipulate that specific signal. Lots of control there that’s really fun to play with!
So glad i saw this,im a bass player, but i have always been into ambient, gave up on individual pedals long ago (sold them all, including a couple of basses, because life happens) recently went back to playing just last month, when my brother gave me a bass as an early birthday, went and bought a budget multifx and used your tone print as a guide, really surprised with the outcome...thanks for the inspiration

I think that YT must be listening to me practice. This video came up in my recommendations after I changed my pedal order -- I actually had been putting my MXR M300 reverb before my DOD Rubberneck delay, but this morning decided to switch things up and put the reverb last, per the "usual wisdom," and found better clarity in both the repeats and the shimmer, and better control over self-oscillation. As you say, don't worry about rules or consensus, try things. Perhaps in my case, it's a matter of how my particular reverb and delay interact with each other. But I certainly will be trying my modulation pedals post reverb.

Mine does that and I have gone back and forth from kicking it off of my board because of this. I did however figure out that if you keep your Drag knob past 12oclock the hiss is not so bad.
No, doesn’t bother me at all. You don’t notice it once the music is playing. On top of that I rarely use super low drag settings. I mainly use Afterneath for smooth long reverb tones, hence Drag is almost always maxed out for me

+Tom Lewis - So awesome, dude! Afterneath is just such a killer pedal. Simply opens up an entirely new world of creative possibilities. Honored to hear that you found the video informative and inspiring. Makes it all worth it :)
You usually run delays into reverbs. On top of that I like to run more analog/tape-voiced delays into digital delays. So my preferred routing would probably be Obscura -> DD7 -> Polara. But mess around with it. Nothing's carved in stone ☺
@@thepedalzone I watched also your another episode and decided to put polara-> obscura -> dd7. It gives me interesting texture, although I'm wondering if it's not too dirty for electric or acoustic guitar as week. I care for low level of polara and I think for now it works :) Thank you very much, I will try to check out your piece of advice, too :)
Ach, and after polara I have also chorus. So it's polara -> chorus, obscura -> dd7. It creates nice pads. The only problem I've discovered is low level of signal in boss in case of looping. In a delay it works well. I found messing around with gain and a noise gate improves it, but who has time messing with noise gate when looping, playing clean, using a wah wah and a fuzz... wah wah is loud as hell and I need to turn the knobs of my gate before I use them. Just before my solo. So much potential wasted 🙈

@@thepedalzone Thanks, Stefan, I've put reverb in front of the chain before and have had some fun results. You have to keep experimenting with it all, no rules, just what comes out in the end. Thanks Fam !
What tele are you using Stefan? Is it stock or did you change something? 😊
+Oliver Gebauer - Just an all stock Fender Tele US from the late-mid 90s. Think it’s from 96 or something like that. Only thing changed is the scratch plate 😊
ThePedalZone thanks 🙏🏻
Do u think the flashback triple delay is good for ambient delay
Absolutely love that crazy, cave-dwelling wizard's magic. Stealing that setting for my Afterneath. I've put mine in front of my Avalanche Run too, but definitely going to put some mod/delay in between now.
+Tom Lewis - So awesome, dude! Afterneath is just such a killer pedal. Simply opens up an entirely new world of creative possibilities. Honored to hear that you found the video informative and inspiring. Makes it all worth it :)
Hello there. I'm trying to figure it out how I should put my effects together. I have polara, obscura and dd7. And I'm tired. Any thoughts?
What does the EQ on your amp look like?
Bass around 4-5. Treble around 6-7
ThePedalZone you’re a wealth of knowledge and I am eager to learn
"The Pedal Zone"
(Inspired by Kenny Loggins - "Danger Zone")
Revvin' up your Fender
Listen to her howlin' roar
Metal under tension
Beggin' you to touch your pedal and go
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Riff into the PEDAL zone
Headin' into twilight
Turning up the decay tonight
She got you bouncin' off the delays
And chuggin' into overdrive
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Stef'll jam that
Riff into the PEDAL zone
They never say "turn it down!"
Until you get the output meters on the red-line overload
You'll never know what you can do
Until you get it up as high as you can go
Out along the edge
Is always where he takes us sonically
The further on the edge
The hotter the the ambient jams will be
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Stef'll jam that
Riff into the PEDAL zone
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Stef'll jam that
Riff into the PEDAL zone
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Stef'll jam that
Riff into the PEDAL zone
Highway to the PEDAL zone
Stef'll jam that
Riff into the PEDAL zone

Is the stone deaf amp good?
+Flynn Hanbury Tenison - Yes! It is VERY good. Will do a video on it in the near future :)
