Absolutely BEAUTIFUL camo cerokote gun in a BEAUTIFUL photo setting!
Excellent work Mrgunsngear!
❤Can you cerakote onto pollymer !
@@damienthomas6655 ..yes..had my Glick 21 Cerakoted...see them often at local gun shows, on display...
It's awesome to see the process in action at Scallywag's Customs.
I'm a old guy so M81 Woodland and DCU 3 Color Desert are my game! 😉👍
🇺🇸
I had no idea cerakoting was so involved.
Now I have an even greater respect towards those individuals that undertake such projects.
Thank you Mike and Jimmy for this wonderful insight.
Stay classy my friends.
very clean and tight- nice work 🤌 Thanks for giving us a walkthrough of the process, Jimmy!
Cerkote is cool but some shops have lost their minds, went to the most popular shop in my town to get a quote on 4-color camo and an AR-15, and they said $650.
Doesn't sound out of line to me... That's a good amount of time
spray paint and an afternoon: $20
That's actually pretty reasonable for 4 colors with pattern on a long gun. It's not like it's just 4 parts each one solid color and a handgun. You have to understand the amount of prep work, layering stencils, etc. It's not just spraying the items.
@@gordonstevens9074 more like $10-$15😂 and it looks way cooler
@@gordonstevens9074 I did this, thank god it was with a aero. It eventually rubs off and gives a nice battleworn look, but after shooting for an afternoon, it almost becomes tacky and it rubs off on anything that touches it. If I ever want to get a gun painted again I will cerakote. You get what you pay for.
I have always wanted to know how they got the pattern on there so nice.
Very cool! Now to acquire all the tools! "Baby, ima need a bigger shop!" 🇺🇸🤘
😁
60+ gallon minimum air, and a good air filtration spray area. Are the two most important in my opinion. Tabletop sandblaster and convection oven. Are sufficient to do most gun parts. Best of luck!
@@armstrong2052 thanks for the breakdown
Reminding me that getting a pink sprinkles doughnut paint job on a piece is still on my "TODO" list...
I have pictures of Doughnut Sprinkle jobs on my Facebook Business Page
Be sure to photograph it inside a large pink box of donuts.
A great photo. Plus you can reproduce it on a tshirt for friends.
Good old boys using the latest technology to make your pew-pew one of a kind.
Was the "G" on the right side of the grip on purpose or just a happy accident?
I own that blue Kryptek pattern 320 and I can attest that Jimmy’s work is TOP NOTCH!!!
Can you Cerakote standard capacity magazines with large, prominent text that’s says “10 rd magazine” ?
I live in the State of WA and am asking for a friend…
Alternatively, you could spend in printing campaign materials to educate voters in not electing traitors.
Cool enough. But does it make me look fat?
😂😂😂😂
I've repaired, restored, and painted cars for about 30yr and painting guns looks like about the same process.
What kind of price on this?
That looks great 👍
I just started my cerakote business myself. Its hard to let the guns go after they are done.
You are right about that.
@@scallywagsnationYou shed a tear when the leave. They grow up so fast…
Color and flair! Love it!
🇺🇸
Who makes the magwell fixture and turntable?
Badass video thank you!
You bet!
krylon is still king
Yeah I agree Krylon is for sure a Vibe, I own a Cerakote business but I still have some rattle can jobs at home. I Fully Support Rattle Can Paint Jobs.
That cerakote job looks awesome. Now I want one like that.
It does!
Very cool
I’m not really a fan of fancy but that thumbnail is LIT 🔥
🇺🇸
M81 is KING!!! I’m glad to see its popularity increasing all the time. In my area of the country I would say Real Tree HD hunting camouflage would probably work the best in the country/ woods. But I think M81 and MultiCam look the best. Poor guys in Ukraine are wearing MultiCam and using the same weapons on both sides. It looks v. like an Air Soft match with teams wearing armbands to identify themselves.
Hey brother what would be better a ddm4v7 or bcm reccee 16? What would you rather have?
I used to work in the powder coat department in a machine shop. We coated things like pizza ovens for Little Ceasars and those floor scrubbers you can ride around on. Do the metal components have to be ground when applying the cerakote? With the powder coat we were using we would have to ground each part or the powder coat simply wouldn't apply properly. I know cerakote is a bit different but ultimately its just another type of powdercoat.
For quick and dirty degreasing you can use brake cleaner but the mix this guy using is way less caustic.
No grounding required.
I pronounce it Sarah-Cotay
Cerakote does wear the best.Have a Colt frame and slide in ODG.Just wish this can be done at home.
It's definitely tough stuff. My Rogue Ohio Deadlift Bar is a Cerakote car and it handles the abuse of being in a gym that isn't exactly climate controlled. Lake Erie weather can be tough on metal.
It can. All you need is a spray gun, sand blast cabinet and basic oven. I use an old electric smoker
@@justinrhodes1802 Yeah you are right might need to do this in the future.
*Me with my rattle can:* 🙃
😂
Rattle cans and poster board stencils for my budget!
I did my first 50 shades of fde build about a year ago. I had my upper and lower done in desert tan to be different than all the bronze and fde on the gun. Came out looking amazing and is one of my favs at half the price of my high end guns.
Gearing up to be a great episode… but I’ve liked, and am commenting. Now, off to mug club. Thank you, Mike (and friends)
🇺🇸
The reviews are 🔥
Do you leave the stencils all on until the end? Just started rattle canning that shit, and want to get into cerakoting.
I love that p90 on the wall behind you!
absolutely
He's done some other ps90 themes that were crazy!
Is that the cross magnum hanging up in the back there? Ive been trying to find one for months
Great video showcasing the craftsmanship behind it!
Buy a air paint gun, a compressor and some metal hangers and tape you can do all the guns you want.
What a great video, good job man 👍🏻
Very Cool! I was surprised they didn't clean again after blasting
We did off camera. I blow the parts with compressed air, and then I use a tac cloth to wipe the parts down before painting
@@scallywagsnation I assumed you did but I have 0 experience with Cerakote. Thanks for the response!
Useless decoration
I agree.
If it’s not camo it’s a no go, don’t be poor

Cool video!
Great video, very informative. What is wrong with Twitter, is that the same as X? I didn’t know it was in trouble or not gun friendly.
They meant moving to X/Twitter to get away from Facebook.
Does a coating change the tolerance for an optic cut like the mos plate?
No Cerakote goes on thin, as long as it is applied correctly.
@@jackhenry290 that is Fuddlore. Radian, Noveske, BCM are all very High End Lowers that are all cerakoted from the factory. I have a digital thickness gauge to measure the coating when needed. Next to Anodization Cerakote is the second thinnest coating being used. The only way the tolerance is off on a Lower is if the cerakote was incorrectly applied.
..I've git a place here in the Port St Lucie/ Stuart FL area..O'Reilly Custom Design..that does superb work ...havevhad few done and fixin' to don few more
I like it, just not the cost. 300-400 for a G19, the entire gun was 500 or so.
thanks for the report
Unless you guys are talking about mid 1980s Quincy Model QMB25ACA320 480V 3-Phase Delta screw compressors and driers (THAT STILL RUN 100% AND EVERYDAY M-F) you have little to criticize over. By comparison the "rest" are just toys for little boys!
Made in USA with a Mr. T "Foo"!!!
😎
Getting a Quincy Screw Compressor dryer combo would be amazing. You are right they are literally King. The one I want is 20k delivered lol.
@@scallywagsnation
These two setting right behind the concrete block wall with me as I type this are 40ish years old. Both have been running their asses off since 4:55 AM this morning and never missed a beat.
I love this channel
Ditto
This was a nice video to give more in depth with the process to justify the cost. Versus someone just spray painting a gun in their backyard. You can see the necessary tools and equipment needed along with time to produce a professional and quality outcome.
Well, where ya at?
Thank you Sir
Welcome!
Do they do metal gallon jugs? Can I send my jug in to get cerekoted?
Send your balls in.
yes
@@Mrgunsngear thank you for the response!!!
That boi is fly as fuk 😎🇺🇸
absolutely
That was educational.
I’ve always wondered about the details.
Thank you!
Awesome video, and you are getting closer to the 1 million subs.
Great. Now I want some gear to learn some Cerakote skills. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

You're welcome 👍🏽
He never explains why he recommends against cerakoting barrels. Curious, because many manufacturers offer rifles with a cerakoted barrel option.
Handgun barrels rub against the slide, rifle barrels do not.
I’d love a response to this!?? Lol there’s a local guy here doing single color cerekote for people and giving the gun back in less than 8 hours. From my understanding, it takes 2-5 days before it’s “safe” to use. That all BS now or am I crazy?? Haha 😂 to clarify, safe being that it’s completely hardened and not gonna chip. Hopefully that made sense Lol
You are correct it takes a couple days to reach its max hardness. We usually let the items set for 72 hours before assembly.
All those years of watching nutn and you never tried it yourself??
Wow, this is so cool😮
🇺🇸
This is nice
🇺🇸
Was just considering Cerakoting my P365 slide since the finish is so bad
SIG SAUER is by far the brand we Cerakote the most of.
This was a neat video
One in a collection might be cool, but I see idiots at the range with blinged out or painted guns just to get comments, or they think it makes them a better shooter.
I specifically seek out and buy exclusives, limited edition, special custom colored rifles and handguns because all black and only black gets boring after awhile. I just bought a Walther PDP Pro SD and got it with the OD Green frame. I recently bought a FDE frame HK VP9 as well. I have OD Green, FDE frame GLOCKs too. Also have a Coyote Brown frame SIG P-365 and a FDE frame P-365X etc etc. I like different and don't like looking like everybody else.
Also have a OD Green Geissele Super Duty AR, M81 Woodland Savage Mk II FV-SR .22 LR, Gator Camo Savage 93 FV-SR .22 Magnum, Ruger 10/22 Takedown Coyote Brown etc etc etc.
Cool, nice
Thanks!
What type of series of coating do y'all use, H Series or Elite series? Also, on the pistol slide, do yall cover up the firing pin port, so the paint will not get into the firing pin channel and change any tolerances?
H-series on most everything except for Fixed Barrels, on Fixed barrels we will Use Elite Series .
@@scallywagsnation Thanks
Awesome thanks for the video! Weird how everybody loves M81 again. Garandthumb and Lucas start pushing M81 and all of a sudden it's the rage in the gun community
Sadly even we as the firearms community aren't immune from the lemmings/sheep issues.
@@bmstylee seems that way. I don't dislike M81, it's effective. Free country rock whatever you want. Best to plan to wear what matches your AO though
@@jinks6410 I developed an Arid Multicam specifically for the area of Florida I live in. I agree 100% your Camo on your kit should match the terrain you are most likely to use it in.

Ive been spraying Cerakote for 5yrs, and PPG(automotive) at platinum level for 30yrs. I paint barrels all the time. What is 250° going to do to a barrel? Nothing.
The heat isn't the reason not to do barrels.
@mojoegunner5115 So, tolerances? I've built 33 AR'S of various calibers with painted barrels. I've had zero issues. I use either Superlative Arms AGB's or Superlative Arms Piston systems on all my non-blow back AR'S. In the last 5yrs I've sent 30-40k rounds down range. I know that's not much, but even at that level, I've had absolutely zero issues. Hot, cold, humid, dust, dirt, snow- whatever. Zero issues from Cerakoted barrels. Apparently not everyone can be me.
@@tangomantacticalsoooo you're trying to compare fixed AR barrels to tilt barrel systems? Cool. Never wondered why none of the reputable tilt barrel makers use nitride, dlc, pvd, and such, but not cerakote?.. Maybe stick with your knowledge of coating AR barrels 👍
@@tangomantactical yeah I was referring to tilt barrel systems, there is a reason not a single manufacturer in the Country Cerakotes tilt barrel systems. As far as Fixed barrels you can for sure Cerakote them
@@mojoegunner5115 absolutely correct.

;-)
Bake for 2 hrs at what temp?
1620
@@AJohnSmith In Scovilles correct?
Cerakote has complete instructions for using their product on their website. Curing temp depends on the substrate and which of their products you’re using.
@@AJohnSmith I thought you had to place direct in open fire for 6-12 hours
bump. Mike is such a cool guy.
👋
nobody ever talks about the cost... so who really cares.
Duly noted
Because that can vary greatly. Is it one color? Is it multiple colors? Multiple colors with patterns? Is it something complex with very fine detail and several colors? That's why there isn't any estimate. It's a wide range.
Ok..but a price range would be much appreciated!
