Been watching guitar theory and you tube teachers for years, but not really committing to any program. When I first saw one of your videos, I thought: Who is this guy, so unformal, rambling at times and so easy going? Soon after I found myself signing up for guitar wisdom , I am so impressed with your style and you are always very entertaining. I was born in 56 and so glad to finally focus on my life long dream to become a guitarist. Thank you! You are a dream of a teacher and a wonderful performer. Just because you are not on tour all the time does not mean that you are not a superstar and you know it. Thank you for making yourself so available. I am thrilled and shocked to have found you.
Thanks for sharing. So happy to hear that. Thanks so much for subscribing my Guitar Wisdom. Thank you!! Please enjoy your life!
I did not know there was a program called guitar wisdom! I'm going to look into it as well.
I enjoyed reading your comment!
I was born in 55 and have never gotten my skills to where I wanted them.
Now I seem to practice every day and beginning feel inspired.
Best wishes and blessings to you in your guitar and life journey!
Thank you for what you do ! You teach , inspire , and entertain this 72 yr old guitar player with every video .
You're welcome! So great to hear that! Thanks for listening.
It was an absolute joy and pleasure to spend this time with you and Max. Thank you for bringing so much light into this world!
Glad you enjoyed it! So great to hear that. Thank you!
You didn't share too much. I found this very inspirational. I'm in my mid-40s and trying to make up for lost time. I would love to be a full-time music student, but I don't have the time or money. Content like this is a godsend (or heavenly, like Tomo!). I'm new to your channel but hoping you have content that can help a small pudgy-handed fella like me clean up my guitar playing. (Sympathetic string noise is killing me right now!) If you've never made a video for small-handed guitar players, I highly recommend it ;) Thanks, Tomo!
So nice to hear that. I am glad to be helpful. I will make more talking video like this & more super simple lessons. You're welcome!
😍MAX😻 I like your talks. 😀thank so much for sharing all you have offered in such a positive attitude towards learning.🎸🎶
You are so welcome! So great to hear that! I am positive all the way!
I am thankful that you enjoy teaching, and that you feel honored to do so. The world needs more teachers who are inspired and love giving their knowledge to others.
You're very welcome! So happy to hear that. Thank you!
When I saw you jam with Eric Gales at the Coach House here in OC Southern Ca, you changed my life!!. My son remembers.
Thank you so much! That was for the first ever I played with Eric Gales live show! It was so much fun playing Little Wing with him.
@@TomoFujitaMusic that version was unique.
You are a special kind of human being, Tomo! Player or teacher!? You're doing very well both of them. Thanks for your generosity. 🙏🙏🙏🎸
Thank you very much! I am trying both.
Tomo the first teaching video I saw of yours was amazing. You are born teacher. Easy to understand and follow. I became a subscriber to your channel right away. This life-story is amazing too! You are very transparent and honest and patient in your teaching and speaking. God bless you! Thanks so much.
Thank you so much! So happy to hear that.
Thank You.
To share “Who You Are” letting us know You, also helps us know who we are.
You are a genuine treasure.
You're very welcome! Thank you for sharing! Thank you so much!
I had the good fortune to listen to this video this morning which was made 11 months ago but the algorithm decided it to display today so I gave it a listen.
I was very stressed out when I began watching, the day seemed like it would be a disaster.
Somehow while watching I began to calm down and when you finished your very engaging presentation I was in a much better state of mind . I think I might be able to accomplish something today.
I appreciate your presentations very much. Your more recent material and now this one. There is such a wealth of inspiration on your channel.
Your Grandfather was a very attuned person to give you such a name which you grew into and live up to very powerfully and dynamically.
Thank you so much Tomo. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Thanks for sharing. Thank you so much!
I think it's nice to hear stories about your history. Thank you for sharing and thanks for your teaching.
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you!
Thank you for the video and time. It is so interesting how life presents opportunities, sometimes expected and sometimes unexpected. If we are prepared and knowledgeable, we can take advantage.
Glad you enjoyed it! Life is wild! It's all about timing & decision. Learn, prepare, don't be afraid to fail!

Then pick ourself up, and try to learn from the “why” we fell, and not repeat the same mistake. I am a teacher/coach in tennis and I try to follow the same philosophy. Thank you!
@@ap7498 Thanks for sharing! Music is slightly different. Those mistakes are key to make something more special! I learned my student's mistakes & I turn that into something! But it's similar approach to make things better!
Thank you, Tomo-sensei. A lot of the wisdom you convey on your channel extends far beyond music and the guitar. The past few years have been hard on many of us-work stress, financial stress. As often as I can, I try to remember not to worry, not to compare myself to others, and to be kind to myself. These lessons are passed along to my kids. You are a true teacher, and I’m thankful to have found your channel!
My pleasure! So great to hear that you are enjoying my talk. Yes, it is hard times for many people. One at a time. Guitar has healing effect too. I am so thankful today.

Love love love this video! It’s like sitting and having a coffee with you! Thank you for sharing Tomo!
Glad you enjoyed it! So great to hear that! Thank you!
Dear Tomo,
thank you so much for your service to all of us guitarplayers. It is unbelievable that you give an answer to every comment.
You seem to be very disciplined to do that... how do you find the time for this?
I have tons of respect for you!!! Your are giving and giving. But you never can give without recieving... I send you some tons of love back for your great work.. and will subscribe to your guitar wisdom!!!
Thank you for being so kind and humble... i love this attitube
My pleasure! I love making people happy! Just like everything else... do little but everyday! Thank you so much! Thank you so much!
Thank you Mr Fujita for insights into your life of a teacher and a performer. Mr Max is lovely and likes being carried and pampered😊 To be a teacher is a blessing, I like the fact that you focus on keeping the foundation strong, it is what makes one a fantastic performance level player. I am a late starter so i need to work harder, have discipline to attain my goals. I am inspired to watch you and your student who is a good example of your training 😊Thank you both so much🙏🏽
You're welcome! Max is so special! You can do it! Please enjoy! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your story Tomo. I recently signed up for your guitar wisdom course and am really enjoying it so far. I have been playing for over 10 years now, but your lessons have me taking the time to work on the fundamentals that I neglected. Much love!
You're welcome! Thanks for subscribing my Guitar Wisdom. So great to hear that!
Thank you Tomo. Now I understand your philosophy in your teaching method. I too am 70 yrs. old and am a Bassist who always wanted to play guitar. Because of my age I try to learn too fast and not patient cause time seems so short. I will renew my Tomo Fugita lessons in Blues, for this is my foundation, and will work Harder at it. Any advice for people of my age? MAHALO.
You're welcome! So great to hear that. 70 year young! How about practice to be patient? Do one thing so well. Chromatic scale, R37 Swing Groove and learn triads! Prepare now so you will have more fun later! Please join my Guitar Wisdom so you understand proper approach on learning guitar!
Your life story is amazing! I love listening to your music and hear you talk, there are so much substance. You are truly an inspiration!
Thank you so much!
Good words. Beautiful cat! Ragdoll is happy boy today. Best of all worlds, cat video & guitar video together!

Bravo! I loved every moment, precious Max 🥰, your insight, history, *knowledge*. All fascinating! Intrigued to learn more and hope you’ll consider sharing your journey on a regular basis - weekly, monthly? Pretty please 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Tomo-san - thanks for sharing your thoughts and story. I'm grateful you've got the passion and skills to teach guitar to the world. We're better for that.
You're welcome! I am so lucky! Thank you!
Thanks for answering my question! I agree that it is an honor to be able to teach, and hopefully your students are thankful that you took that path in life. Some people get the gig to go on big stages, other people get the gig to go into music education - there is a place for both! I have been a higher education mentor/tutor since 2003, so I really understand where your heart is. Some people know their craft and cannot teach it while others just have an innate ability to help people learn. Good thing you ended up as a teacher, as you said, so you’d be able to help many people improve their guitar skills.
I also like the explanation about your name!
When you said you wrote books for other instruments, does that mean you play instruments besides guitar? If so, I had no idea and would love to see that! It would also be neat to see you explain whether you’d change or add anything in the videos/books you published being that you wrote them so long ago.
Thanks again! It’s really nice of you to share your personal experiences. You are helping many people by explaining the paths you’ve taken in life, giving your perspectives, etc.
By the way, I wish I could see the print on the pillow next to you. I think my mom may have painted the design when she worked at one of two textile studios in NYC during the 70’s. Do you (or your wife, lol) know where/when you got the pillow or who makes it if there’s a tag on it?
My mom specialized in “tight-hand” designs like intricate paisleys, teeny florals, etc. She passed away in 2018, but we have some of her painted designs from a portfolio that she saved - and I’ve learned how to tell my mom’s little flecks in her work. I’d know for sure if I saw the pillow up close. We used to see her prints years ago. Then we started seeing a lot of her designs again on all sorts of items in the last 10-15 years like shirts, bedding, curtains, handbags, makeup bags, etc. Mom once spotted something she painted on a $2000 designer bag (as a studio artist, she didn’t own the rights to her own work and she was fine with that). We have found her work at JCpenny, TJMaxx/Homegoods/Marshall’s, Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, and more. She said that many of the colors have been changed from the originals to reflect more modern preferences, but all the designs we’ve seen have been totally unchanged otherwise. It’s heartwarming when I spot something she put hours of work into creating. She went to F.I.T. and loved textile design, but stopped to raise me and my siblings full time. :-)
You’re welcome! Thanks again for a great topic question. I co produced many instructional videos for Rittor Music in Japan. I can talk about it.
Thanks for sharing! Beautiful story! My wife loves interior designs. She is great at drawing, painting too. I will check it later.
WOW, WOW. Please add me to the growing list of people you have inspired. Everyone has knowledge but to be able to convey that knowledge and inspire people to learn is a very special skill. Always enjoy watching your videos. 👍❤🇦🇺
So great to hear that. Thank you!
It's always so interesting hearing you speak about guitar, especially some of the stories you share, everything you teach always feels so personal. The details about the accelerate dvd are so interesting, I wasn't even born when you made it haha! But its obvious why you deserve so much recognition. Always an inspiration Tomo thanks for the lessons
Thank you so much! My AYGP dvd... still selling well! You're welcome!
In Chinese we have a saying, the best Doctor is a Teacher. Tomo, you are the SOUL Doctor.............
Thank you so much! Music is medicine to me!
My father came from a far away land to build his life in the UK back in late 60s. I have enormous respect for people who manage this kind of journey. It’s probably easier now due to the times we live, access to information and ability to meet people who had done this. Back in the day, your were literally on your own and dependant on meeting nice people to help out.
Beautiful story!! Thank you so much for sharing it. Guitar journey is fun!!
Now… it’s easy and difficult because instant information
I loved all of it....your career is amazing...you are truly a professional teacher, that's what you did mostly in your life :)
Thank you so much! Glad you think so.
Dear Tomo, I enjoyed your story with Ritto music to make Ensou noryoku kaihatsu excercise. I appreciate you made this material
Thank you very much!
Max is so sweet, and loving!. One of my two kittys' passed away last year two days from today. I wish I had video taped him more before I lost him. This will be a very valuable video for you in the future. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy watching all your videos, and listening to all your advice. Very helpful, and makes me feel better. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing yours. You're welcome! My wife and I love our two cats! Max & Dexter! We made so many photos and videos! I have more videos like this. I am always talking to my cats!
I think it is only 6% of the World's population can play a guitar. Very few of them can actually teach how to play. You have a gift that you share so very well. Two years ago I was not ready for you style of teaching. Now I believe I am.
Thanks for sharing! Only 6%! That's pretty small! I need to teach more people! Good job!
Tomo, I always learn so much from your humble wisdom. It was great to know more about your history (grandfather's intent for you) and personal philosophy. I get little bits from many teachers but you're the only one my wife also always enjoys watching with me and she is an artist but not musician 😊.
So great to hear that! I am very happy when non musicians enjoy my videos. Thanks so much!
Thank you for letting us into your life and letting us get to know Tomoson the man. Arigato.

I love your story ❤ my belief is everything works out the way it's supposed to. I had huge aspirations, but ended up a letter carrier, but it affords me a future in retirement, so not too bad.
Thanks so much! Your way is one of many ways (choices) Awesome!
Speaking of Kanji ... I was studying Japanese twice, for 3 months during university years, and for 1 year and a quarter 10 years after that. Kanji is the real obstacle to me, so much to remember!
One thing I'd like to confess ... back then I was listening to quite a lot of J-Pop and J-Rock music. One of my favorites was Le Couple, which I know the singer name is Fujita Emi, but not the guitarist. I know that they are married and has the same last name, but I never know the first name of him.... When I heard about you, I thought "may be he is the husband". Luckily we do have something call "Wikipedia", otherwise I'd still be misunderstanding.
I remember this because, during my Japanese classes, sometimes sensei play Le Couple's songs on a portable player. These classes are in different institutes, sensei are different person, yet the same song is played. I think they must be quite popular, at least in the past (I did know the band even before taking those classes, btw).
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing Sensei, not only your story, but particularly your knowledge, I wonder if you will ever realize how many people you have inspired.
Thank you so much!
Peace be upon you Tomo. Lovely cat :) I have two little tigers, they bring a lot of joy. Your life story in guitars and music would be a fascinating read (or watch). Hope all is well in your world. Thanks for the videos.

Can you give a lesson just on tips when performing on a stage? I get so nervous whenever i have concerts for my school
We all get nervous in front of people. This these people are potatoes! No judgment from potatoes! Then do more detail preparations, Work on your part with slow tempo and make your solo ahead of time (more than 1/2 way) so you cannot panic! Thank you!

Thanks so much! John Repucci! Yes I am still working there (my 29th year!)
...and you are a knowledgeable friend!
I appreciate that!
You're teaching us the perspective and not just input the theory or how things in music is called. No one teaches triad as you do. You made the" knowing" into" understanding" by making triad in a routine based application.
Yes! More than just theory & techniques. Guitar is so beautiful and it makes your life richer inside! I love triads, R37 Swing Groove... Foundation! Thank you so much!

Hehe this kitty luuvs you
Thanks for sharing man appreciate you ♥️💙🍃
You're welcome! Thank you!
I really like hearing your stories about trying something and then if it doesn't work you try something else. I approach my guitar playing the same way. Sometimes I get stuck on a chord progression and can't leave it, for example GCD stuck for maybe 4 years thats all I played, luckily not in a band. To me the guitar is all about feel after the basics are taken care of all strings guitar working properly and tuned but I don't like theory or learning about shapes which makes it a little difficult to progress. In a way its the same technique you used in life for guitar. This sound means this and you play it this way is not in my Dna that is probably why when I play with my friends who play guitar they don't like my way of playing cause I break too many rules. It is just how I am programmed. I do listen to theory and listen to different techniques constantly but they just don't stick. To me its like my glass is so full that I can only take a little theory and that is it otherwise too much static and nothing comes out. Hard to explain maybe someday I will have a realization and figure something out until then just keep on plucking on the guitar.
When you stuck in playing guitar, you can go a few steps back.. learn more foundation!

Hi Tomo, another great video! Love seeing Max and Dexter, more please!
I have a question ... when a superstar (for example John Mayer) comes to you for lessons ... what do they (personality) bring and what do you offer (lessons) that makes them go from beginner to become a superstar?? I think you discussing this topic would make a great video.
So great to hear that. Great suggestion. Thanks so much
A lot of performers wind up with marriage problems. Too many music teachers think of teaching as a side gig. You have passion for both and do both so well. I am thankful you didn’t choose just one or the other. I have seen some of your performances on RUclips and I subscribe to Guitar Wisdom. Very impressed with both. Thanks for posting this and sharing your story.
You’re welcome! I am so lucky. Thanks so much!

@@TomoFujitaMusic I am also a teacher and totally understand...it is inherently rewarding to share your expertise for the benefit of other instead of yourself... therein lies the spiritual part...displacing your ego is always healthy...and teaching is its own reward. Instructing others also sharpens your own understanding of the fundamentals...win win. I learn as much as I teach.
