Any chance you remember what you used or what you recommend me use? Also, do the same components work with a 14.8V batterie or do I need a different resistor for that voltage?

40 kV? don't make me laugh, the air dielectric strength is about 3000V / mm. You get close to fire the arc and after that you just have an electric arc that you can stretch, you can see for example an arc welding.🤣
Same, looks like 4kv, there was not enough turns on the secondary windings, 300 turns secondary, 12 turns primary is only 1 to 25 ratio times 3.5 volts makes 87.5 volts, now I've done the maths, I smell a rat
This is only 450v output!!!! Thid fellow doesn't know how to calculate secondary voltage!!! Hete primary winding is 8 turns and secondary is only 300 turns!!! Hence if you apply 12 v in the primary, you will get only 450v in the secondary!!!

Hey the value of resistor is 220 ohm according to the colour code not 22 ohm

Coil may be not insulated properly or transistor may be burnt
Did you remove the insulation of insulated copper wire especially the thin one?
