  • While Alpha Male podcasts are seeping into every corner of the internet, I rewatched the wholesome and hilarious movie Hitch starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James. And though I love this movie, modern dating advice is sending people into toxic relationships. This is semi-commentary, semi-rant about my feelings on the modern relationship and what I hope would lead us into healthier connections.

/ Who is Tiffany Byrd Harrison? 🙋🏾‍♀️
Hey, I'm an actor turned video creator sharing comedy and conversation. We talk media messaging and how to discern what we're being taught in movies, pop culture, and social media. Layered storytelling is my bag so I hope you get a chance to watch each video two or three times so you catch everything I'm putting down.

Love the movie. Rom-coms died because we on the internets having cyclical arguments about who's to blame. There's little romance or fun in media. It's all calculated. Life is messy. Love is messy. Enjoy the mess and try not be an ass.

I liked the movie & watched it years ago but your nuanced analysis makes me wanna watch it again. Your channel is amazing! You hit so many valid points on modern-day approaches of relationships & how the media (including social media) can cloud our perspectives on that. I love how you connected the dots & unraveled the layers

I love how you dive into relationships in totality and I heard you, without you saying it, that there are different types of love and not just romantic love. If we just avail ourselves, and be open to receiving people, we're bound to discern quicker and grow more meaningful connections in romance and life

Hitch was the first Rom-Com I remember watching as a kid and I LOVED it. To this day it's still my all time favorite.

Every once in a while, I do pray with my Mom just to help us to relax (mostly it's me who needs to relax) and get this relief from the stress in the world. 😊

Love your analysis on this movie!
Hitch is my all time favorite movie and it taught me it you really want something, both people have to fight for it and work in the effort it to work. 😊

I loved Hitch. But I've ALWAYS felt the Eva Mendez role belonged to Nia Long. That was a Nia Long role.

6:29 If you want a great Kevin James movie, I'd highly recommend "Here comes the Boom!". A feel good comedy-drama involving teaching and MMA. 😀

I find it funny how Kevin Samuels has become this poster child for the asinine alpha male image, but Kevin Samuels existed for reason.
In this video alone, your tone when describing Eva Mendes character is celebratory as a strong willed type while reasons for Will Smith’s character having to resort to being calculating to get women is off putting. But there’s a reason he has to be that way.
If women didn’t reward men for certain socially unacceptable traits, then Kevin Samuels wouldn’t exist.

    • @TiffanyByrdHarrison
      @TiffanyByrdHarrison  3 месяца назад +3

that’s a fair perspective. Though just because there’s an audience or acceptance for alpha male types doesn’t necessarily mean that’s a good thing.
Btw, my tone towards Eva as strong willed wasn’t meant to be celebratory, I was actually pointing out the contradictions in her character - that she was pushing men away but it was counter to what she may have actually wanted.

@@TiffanyByrdHarrison you’re absolutely right. Your tone was not celebratory. I re-watched your take in addition to when you said both genders can get it. My mistake on that mistake.

Don't get me started on Kevin Samuels and Fresh & Fit. I know that Kevin has passed away but I don't understand why anyone would like his content, the same goes for Fresh & Fit that have these women on their shows who are escorts and have them on to win the arguments when the escorts are not that smart.
