One title that I really wish we would see continue in the Masterworks is Sgt. Fury (and the Howling Commandos). Been a VERY long time since we have seen any of these.
I knew that the title transitioned to reprints-only, but I didn’t realize how far the series got before that happened. Yes, this line is WAY behind!

I hope we also get an all new Tomb of Dracula vol 1 with better mapping and letters. I can wait until the MMWs are far enough for a new volume 2 and 3

I too hope we get that Ka-Zar omnibus, or at least a reprint of the first Masterwork which has become very expensive.
Biggest surprise here is surely Ka-Zar, a line that they could've easily left closed. I wonder if he's about to come back into prominence anywhere, or if they really just want to push his MMW line to cover the series they released in omni.
I’m hardly an expert, but I find that Marvel usually tries to tie finite volumes off in (relatively) short order.
I’m curious to see what new series will circulate into the mix once Ghost Rider, Werewolf and Dracula wind down.
Power Man & Iron Fist are long overdue.

Pretty big news that that Into Shamballa graphic novel is included in the Doctor Strange MMW. I think first time it’s ever been reprinted! Am stoked
Yes!!!!! Walt Simonson Thor baby! Been waiting for this to be masterworks for forever. I can’t wait. Ghost Rider is a must-buy with those great Bob Budiansky interiors. I already own the X-men omnis with the Claremont material, but I might have to get those remaster works. Man-thing is an interesting choice I might have to pick it up. I think the new Thor masterworks will also be the only collected Simonson Thor with the original colors instead of the Steve Oliff recoloring. Tomb of Dracula is a must! That werewolf by night cover is awesome. Thanks for the announcements Omar
I am so excited for those Simonson Thor volumes as well. The original coloring is just so much better, I refused to buy the omnibus and will be shelling out the big bucks for these.

Hoping that Marvel was thinking ahead on resolving the rights to # 112 (King Kull), coming up in a couple of years.
I wonder how they’re going to map the last Ghost Rider volume (# 74 - 81). It needs some padding for sure.
Defenders # 96? Team America # 11? The old inventory issue printed in the ‘90s Marvel Super-Heroes? The bypassed Marvel Team-Up issues? (Only MTU #15 made it into the GR Masterworks). The post-series cameos by Johnny Blaze and Zarathos in Defenders and Amazing Spider-Man, respectively?
Anyway, for those who are making their way through these Ghost Rider issues for the first time, # 68 - 81 are easily the best of the series. You’re in for a real treat.
Another thought relates to this GR post that deserves its own separate comment - for my money, Roger Stern is an unsung hero of this era of Marvel. We rightly celebrate those iconic creator/character pairings of this decade, but nobody beat Roger in sheer craft and versatility. He created great stories, no matter WHICH series he was writing.
Thanks for the announcement, Omar! I'm super-psyched for Man-Thing to join the MMW line. I can't wait to complete the TOMB OF DRAULA line in a few years. If I had my wish it would be a single volume of all of the early STAR-LORD issues. Honestly, it's a selfish wish because I want MARVEL PREVIEW #11 (by pre-X-Men team of Claremont, Byrne and Austin) masterworked IN COLOR the way Marvel did it back in 1982 in STAR-LORD: THE SPECIAL EDITION #1. BTW, I have all 354 volumes and I've been collecting since the beginning back in 1987. One of my prized possessions!

Wow. Every time I see an announcement for Masterworks I joke to myself that there'll never be a Man-Thing Masterwork. I tune in and snort in derision. Not today. Holy smokes. Gonna get that bad boy. I wonder how many volumes they'll do. Wil they only collect the Gerber issues? Guess I'll have to keep tuning in.

Nice, looks like Tomb of Dracula is collecting the various Blade solos, was hoping for that. Will continue getting Dracula and Werewolf, adding Man-Thing for sure and may start getting the Thor ones.
I think I would try to get the blue cover for the thor masterworks, it looks really nice. A solid lineup of upcoming Marvel Masterworks for sure.
Great announcement, most excited for Simonson Thor but the return of Dr Strange is a very welcome development! Preorders will be in for all of them with the exception Ka-zar and Werewolf, I have to draw the line somewhere... but now I'm thinking how much I like Don Perlin art and that Ka-zar volume has some Steve Gerber writing... so tempting! New Mutants MMW is now about 7 or 8 volumes of X-Men overdue... not to mention the overdue Power Pack MMW!

I'm happy to see Marvel Team Up. I have the first 7 vols and want to see the run completed. If they do, I won't be getting the Omnibus if they ever do one.

I collect MMW HCs for the silver age first appearances of the major characters. And because I love Spidey and FF I have all the volumes that make up the Omni vol 1s in that format too.

I really want a doctor strange omnibus collecting all the issues after vol.2. Some of the epics are hard to find right now so it’s hard to find a collected edition for a reasonable price
I'd love to get some Master of the Mystic Arts omnis, no idea why they've jumped all around it with the Strange Tales and Sorcerer Supreme ones.
I collect the Masterworks. I'm only missing 2 Atlas Era books. I would've had them if they hadn't ended the soft cover line. I was less then 10 away from both.
I bet if I started with collecting Marvel Masterworks, I would be very excited with this news. I respect those who collect any type of collected editions. Very happy for Marvel Masterworks collectors, even newer ones.

The most interesting thing to me is the possibility of reprinting omnibuses after some of these finish coming out. Thor by Simonson with the new colors for instance. I’m skipping this year’s Omni because of the colors. But also the remaster works books. I’d consider replacing my original Amazing Spider-Man Omni with a remaster works version for instance.
I didn't think I cared about anything in the Masterworks line until that Thor got announced!

Thanks so much for this list, my most anticipated announcements twice a year. I went with Masterworks collecting rather than omnibus and have all of them so far. Delighted that Man-Thing is finally coming and thrilled with more Tomb of Dracula and Werewolf by Night. Can't wait to read the Simonson Thor run finally. I'd love to see more 70's horror in Masterworks, Man-Wolf, The Living Mummy and Frankenstein's Monster. Other suggestions would be What If and Adventures of the Planet of the Apes.

A lot of the Horror titles you mentioned may not have enough material to sustain a full Masterworks. However, good news - most of them have already been collected in the two Marvel Horror omnibuses or in character-specific trade paperbacks.
I guess the "Re-Masterworks" are settling into a bi-monthly schedule.
I hope the Simonson Thor sticks to original colors for the Masterworks.
And, lastly, I have all the masterworks!

Werewolf of Night already had an omni. But hopefully after the MMWs are finished we get a remastered reprint of the omni

More amazing spiderman!! Last era we need is 279-288!! vol 27 for spidey for marvel masterworks excited for vol 26 to come out but yeah and more spectacular spiderman marvel masterworks! Excited for the vol 7 this year, issues 80-91! Then alien costume saga is 90-100 so hopefully marvel masterworks vol 9 would continue at issue 101 but hope for best! Excited to have atleast up to issue 100 collected!! For spectacular, just a matter of time before we get rest of it!
Apologies to the purists out there, but I actually was quite pleased with the recolouring work of the Simonson Thor omnibus.
That being said, I’m looking forward to the first Simonson Thor Masterworks.
I will be picking up Ka-Zar, Dracula, and the Beta-Ray Bill Thor volume (I'm normally an Omni guy but I will give Simonson's Thor run the Masterworks treatment that it deserves). Oddly enough, though, I will immediately sell off my four Ka-Zar volumes if Marvel ever gives me an early years Ka-Zar Omni. I love the MWs but I am mainly collecting SA and BA Marvel as Omnis. Still waiting on Marvel Team-Up, Marvel Two-In-One, Ant-Man, Ghost Rider, and Namor SA/BA Omnibus volumes.
Wonderful! If I could ask, could please in the future show at each book the standard edition first and then the variant cover please? Also, would be better if the "designer" would do the contents that way, so the corner does not stick into the covers.. :) Fortunately in every case there was a second or two where it was not there so I was able to take a clear print screen. :) A little disappointment is the big slow down of the reprints and again the exception with The Uncanny X-Men, printing 2 volumes in only a few months! Good to see The Man-Thing as a new title, I have recently finished reading the Omnibus and after deciding to cut back on buying material in more than one format, this I will not collect in Masterworks format. Ghost Rider I am also only collecting in Epic. Great to see that now we don't need to wait long for the next Marvel Team-Up volume, a bit sad that we don't have any more John Byrne art... :) Thor.... good to see, but... Walter Simonson... not amongst my favorites at all. Although great effort, very rare to see artist writing AND drawing as well a title for longer period, the only other person I can remember is John Byrne. And Dosctor Strange is finally back, in 2023 March we had the last volume. Great to see another Ka-Zar volume, I am still chasing Vol. 1! I see that because we have already in May the next The Amazing Spider-Man volume, the next one now slipped back from it's usual December appearance I suppose to 2025 May?

Do you think they will go up to UXM Vol. 10 with the remasterworks? Would they even reprint Vol. 12,13 etc. down the line?
Because I have all the omnis and it would be easier to slowly phase in MMWs starting with Vol. 1-2 and then the rest as they come out. With my current budget I can't track down and buy MMW UXM Vol. 10 and forward at third party prices.
Well, Uncanny X-Men Vol # 10 is limited volume # 241. Even at 12 Remasterworks a year, you’ve got a while.
I don’t pretend to have an inside track, but I think the Remasterworks are meant for just that - to retouch older volumes to match the current standards of restoration and to add a few new extras. The later in that list we progress, the closer they should be to that standard anyway.
It’s the equivalent of reformatting an old DVD movie from 20 years ago to 4K versus retouching a movie that already came out 4K last year.
Still, nothing says that the Remasterworks can’t gradually transition to a regular reprint line.
☝️So, is this the ONLY way to collect HC's of "MARVEL TEAM-UP". No Omni's huh❓️
I do wish Marvel would desist from reprinting secondary stuff in the Masterworks format (the dreary horror titles, Ka-Zar, She-Hulk, Dazzler etc) and reprint Byrne's legendary run on Alpha Flight or Bill Sienkiewicz's run on New Mutants and amazing work on Moon Knight - top class stuff. These titles were running alongside the stuff they are reprinting from the '80s - does anyone know if they will get Masterworks treatment, and when??

What is the volume number on the spines of the variant cover?
Essentially the Marvel Masterworks volume number. For example Fantastic Four 26 is the 365th Marvel Masterworks volume.
When the Masterworks were introduced in the late 1980’s, the “marble variants” were in fact the only edition.
The Masterworks line went dormant after Volume 27 for roughly a decade. When the line was revived in the early Aughts (2000s)* they re-started the line from scratch, using the original marble Masterworks format as well as the new plain gray editions (which we call “standard”) which are numbered based on the specific comic line.
* There was a brief revival of “Comicraft” editions that also included new volumes 28 - 31, which are now functionally obsolete.
So the Marvel Team-up MMW will reprint the Shang-Chi issues?
No problem reprinting Shang-chi unless it includes Fu Manchu. Fu Manchu presents rights complications.
