Okay so you mentioned the hunt positioning, right? Apparently when the Korean servers launched, they were already in like 2.2 or something. That meant hunts were implemented when the playerbase was still completely fresh - and so naturally there were agressive level 50 mobs camped right in the middle of areas with important quest objectives that players had to massively band together to either beat or bait away so others could do what they needed lol. oh and congrats!!!
@@rathgamesDuring the intial release of the materia DC there were massive groups of new characters trying to take these things down, all level 1-15s just going at it

I've followed this since about the beginning, and watching you repeatedly overcome seemingly impossible challenges is always so great. CT is just another challenge to beat!
I am constantly impressed by your skill at overcoming challenges that simply aren't meant to be overcome. And I really adore your use of background music, it's fun to hear Dragon Quest tunes over Final Fantasy gameplay.
Melvina's cameo and Benedictgg's animation are so incredibly witty and clever!! And the ending chorus of voices just got me feeling some kind of way :'^) Looking forward to CT!!! Though I'm betting my shinies you can't solo it ;)
I genuienly had no idea that the tear phase extended buffs like that, guess doing challenge runs really does teach you a ton of obscure facts about the game
Notably this also applies to debuffs, which is why when the warp spawns, you're given a 10 second DoT. If you resist the pull until the final pull pulls you in, the DoT will expire right before you get sucked in, so there's no extra damage for healers, but if you run into the warp as soon as possible you'll have a DoT for the whole phase. Back when it was relevant content, that used to be pretty significant for healers if everyone decided to take it into the phase.
@@tciddados Fun fact about that debuff: not only is it a DoT, it's also effectively a mega vuln down. I tested this unsynced at level 90 (testing this w/ random PF groups seems a bit trolling/griefing, so this is all I got, but from what I remember this should be somewhere in the right ballpark for synced runs), and it roughly DOUBLES damage taken. And that's before factoring in any well-timed extended mitigation. The meteors (the only damage taken inside the rift apart from the DoT afaik) that plenty of people in roulettes will absolutely lose their minds about "STAY OUT! ONLY TANKS CAN SOAK THEM OMG"? Yeah, not a problem even for healers to soak if you don't speedrun getting into the rift.
I love that I saw this after the CT video, but i am SO PROUD OF YOU!!! I teared up a little at the end when you finally got it, it's been 6 long months but you have ABSOLUTELY surpassed your own expectations, I'm sure, and what a wonderful feeling it must be!!!
how did he do it? you can't even enter those duties solo I think? and even if you could you wouldn't be able to get past the atomos bit after the first boss.
Holy shit. Way to fucking go, Rath! Never knew about Nabriales' rift phase extending buff timers like that- I may actually take advantage of that next time I find myself fighting him.
It also extends the debuff that he puts on you right before the rift. That debuff not only does a small DoT effect, but also roughly doubles the damage you take. If you resist getting pulled in for as long as possible, the debuff falls off right as you are forced in, so it has no timer left to extend. :)

It's definitely the most interesting part for the challenge on my end as well! Love to see new stuff in this decade old game that I just never knew about.
Having done Titan with Blue Mage synced, I figured that would definitely be the one to break level sync. Gaols are just too insane Didn't expect Garuda to go that way if I'm being honest, nice job!
I used to love Keeper of the Lake as a dungeon, especially the final boss, so I do have to say: you mentioned that Keeper was harder with Ironworks gear because of when it was designed, but the DPS check in the final boss is actually completely new to the rework they did during the Endwalker patches, for Duty Support compatibility; previously, Animadversion was an attack you had to survive by killing an add that dropped an interactible object that you would use for a temporary invincibility bubble.
The dps check itself is new, but even if it had been the older version of the fight, we likely would have been overwhelmed all the same by the scaling gear level. Even just the 2nd boss killing us is the first time in a long while that a dungeon has caused a death
Phenomenal job, been watching since the first episode, so glad you stuck with this, always been a big fan of the Runescape Ironman challenge and applying it to ffxiv was a crazy, yet great idea. Looking forward to the future of this series! Just one question, what theme was that you played for your Nabriales kill clip?
I can't wait to see your plan for Bismark, I honestly can not think of a way to do it without 2 people minimum due to having to spread out the big dragon adds or they become super tanky, it is certainly doable if you can burst them down before they move but you doing it no echo... I dunno, looking forward to that though. Also solo using both chains is doable but you have to sprint it, just a heads up there, I have done it unsynced enough to know that one. The adds may only be EX version I honestly cant remember, but if it is, then I could see you making it all the way to Thordan but for the same reason possibly having trouble there. Been a fun run watching you clear all this though.
Hey rath, just wanted to ask, titan doesn’t seem to auto you when you’re gaoled, if that’s the case, is it possible to run and get gaoled further away from him, then use rough divide to dodge the weight of the land when you get free? Great video as always ❤️
Th- wha. That's genius. I know he /tries/ to auto you during the gaol, he'll still use his tank buster even though he can't hit you, so I'm not sure it'll work, BUT, an amazing idea all the same. I wish I had thought of trying that out.
I figured Titan would give you some trouble, and while I can't remember a two person mechanic in Heavensward, I do know the one thing that is probably going to be a wall is probably Susano and his big sword attack. Congrats on everything thusfar though, it's been a wild ride to see.
@@rathgames Unfortunately Susano is pretty much a hard wall, you need one person grabbing the sword and another damaging it at the minimum - perhaps you could use a similar work-around like you did with the CT series and gather 7 other solo-only players to help you?
I just know that the buff timer extend when you're sucked into those rift thingy... At that point the only thing in my mind is hope that that single sprout melee DPS knows that he has to use the LB and that another sprout ranged didn't use it just before entering the rift.
Re - The hunts directly on the roads in newbie zones: YEP. I got killed by one the other day on an alt. I had to ask the novice network for someone to come kill it so I could complete my hunting log. This level 100 WAR came in and smoked it. Good times.
I love trying to solo things but I’m not sure I’d want to do this myself. I think the most challenging fights for me have been rathalos on sam back in shb and Bismarck same expansion but on whm. Current hardest for me has to be savage exdeath and I know what needs to improve.
A curiosity, asking if someone followed garuda attempts live : its still a free hit and not worth risking it ,but wouldnt garuda's auto wake you up right after the satin put you to sleep, making it not 30 sec but 3 at max?
It might've been nightmare, not sleep. That debuff won't wake you from receiving damage, you'll be slept for the full duration or until cleansed by esuna.
@@iPlayOnSpica oooh i see ty ! unfortunately i'm not that much familiar with that fight , but i've been progging uwu with some friends and in the occasion garuda goes wrong and one satin is alive and put us to sleep i remember waking up after an auto since i MT that, that's why i asked ^^ curious how the fight is different
Aggressive hunts... I once finished up Titan, was walking back to the camp... That tonberry was just outside the cave entrance, hiding around the corner, just waiting to shank me. And it did. Quite swiftly.
There's probably other stumbling blocks if you went through all of Heavensward, but I can't help but think about how impossible it'd be to get past Susanoo if you made it that far.
I believe it was optional if you already entered hw content. I was part of the huge wow player migration before endwalker and it stone walled me into doing it before hw
Yeah like theundeadwarlock said it was optional when that shadowbringers patch released, but as soon as it came out if you hadn't gotten past ARR it was no longer optional.
I am still sad you missed the perfect opportunity to go full "Mad Scientist" at the end there "I'll show them" ... yeeees...... then no "I'll show them all!" so sad T_T
Also, it's sad that you cannot really do a solo challenge without dying, because it would be an Iron man run if you tried that. lol And an Ironman run is too hard. 🦭

I just know that the buff timer extend when you're sucked into those rift thingy... At that point the only thing in my mind is hope that that single sprout melee DPS knows that he has to use the LB and that another sprout ranged didn't use it just before entering the rift.
You know they used it before entering. They always do
Re - The hunts directly on the roads in newbie zones: YEP. I got killed by one the other day on an alt. I had to ask the novice network for someone to come kill it so I could complete my hunting log. This level 100 WAR came in and smoked it. Good times.
Congrats man!!! What a great feat 🎉 but what music did you used for Nabriales fight?
Hero's Challenge dq11, and The End DQ4 orchestrated by Tokyo Suite
@rathgames thank you! I'll be looking forward with what you have planned for the Crystal Tower. All the best and Merry Christmas!
great video, kupo!
oh sabotender ballarina did kill me as a little below level 20 sproutling, i just... walked too close orz
Impressive. Well done!
Thank you :'^)
I think my favorite part of this episode is the Titan fight!
here for the amazing Kupo Kupo content!
My main content really. I should've started out as a kupo kupo adventure streamer
I was so terrified hed have to level a healer for titan
@@damascar3639 I wouldn't know, either. Never played Garuda hard or ex with MINE, so it's common to skip so much
He's done it.
We have won
Aggressive hunts...
I once finished up Titan, was walking back to the camp...
That tonberry was just outside the cave entrance, hiding around the corner, just waiting to shank me.
And it did.
Quite swiftly.
Im so sorry.
What version of garudas theme plays at 7:25?
It's "Primal Angel" from the Eden raids
Yeah, the eden garuda song :^) thanks Matthew
the irony of wanting to add Solo to my friends' list, but then that would defeat the point. 😂
18:22 MOM IM ON TV
Ngl, didnt know Garuda's adds heal her
Can’t wait to see “can Post ARR be solo’d?” :D
T-this was post arr :'^}
There's probably other stumbling blocks if you went through all of Heavensward, but I can't help but think about how impossible it'd be to get past Susanoo if you made it that far.
We shall see once we get to Susano I suppose, as with all things :^)
@@rathgames On account of the "literally impossible to solo" mechanic, this would fall under the same logic (and thus the same solution) as CT, no?
If i recall about crystal tower alliance raid its optional untill shb endgame unless they changed in a certain patch
Didn't you already do Crystal Tower?
Or are you going to release the video shortened down.
Since you did stream Crystal Tower already. lol
Also, it's sad that you cannot really do a solo challenge without dying, because it would be an Iron man run if you tried that. lol
And an Ironman run is too hard. 🦭
The video for it, yeah. The proper edited version :^)
@@rathgames Cannot wait to see the edited version since 2+ hours raiding Crystal Tower by streaming was too long to watch in some cases. But I think I saw like the first tidbit of that stream. lol
I remember you doing titan as a ninja. Was that titan normal?
Yeah Ninja was titan normal. Ninja wouldn't be able to live the tankbusters for Titan hard
I forget, why is the MSQ locked? Been way too long for me to remember the prerequisite
It' was added in shadowbringers, patch 5.3.
@rathgames I still don't see quite how that's obstructing it. You have the expansions, don't you?
Kupo Mi'lord, kupo.
Kupo :'^)
Am I the only one that got irrationally angry when the one NPC at 17:58 appeared? If you know, you know.
So Coils is next, right? :)
No :^) I love myself too much for that
I think old keeper of the lake would have been easier to finish
Oh, definitely.
Aren't you glad steps of faith is no longer a trial?
Nooo I wanted to fight the big dragon again :'^(
Who did the animation at the end?
BeneG, they're in the description :0
