Really great video bro. I watched so many tutorials on sculpting, but I just couldn't grasp the concept. This video rally made things clear for me. Thank you so much
I was always struggling to do sculpting in blender, but I would see stuff other people did and get discouraged. This video helped me get over my fear of sculpting, thank you.
Good tip he made on smoothing. When you stroke to smooth, you actually smear it smooth rather than rounding/flattening it. When you tap, it rounds much nicer and avoids hiccups like crossing geometry and getting weird bumps, triangle glitches, etc
Thank you so much, i love your tutorials💛 Lots of useful techniques and keyboard shortcuts are always included so you can learn in no time! I tried sculpting for the first time, but it was fun😻 I really appreciate the tutorials, which are fun to learn!
I love this simple tutorial as a first start into sculpting in Blender! I have one problem though. The nostrils disappear when I get to the stage of applying the modifiers
Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback. For the nostrils, you can try checking if in the multires modifier all subdivision levels are atleast 3. Then apply it. The details can disappear during remesh modifier as well, you can use a more lower value to keep most details. Hopefully it will work.
I was like "WOWWW" the whole time! This is so useful and you explained the tools and process in a way that I could fully understand eofjskjfkwjgj I feel so inspired I'm definitely gonna use this for my school project
Hi ! I was struggling with making a character based on cylinders' vertices (it was a Domestika course thought) --" I was searching for another way on youtube and your video made the introduction of sculpting mode really easy ! I was finally able to create my first sculpting character thanks to you ! A word to others beginners like me : don't buy courses at first, you may be disappointed if you are quite a freehand... Blender is an open source, they are many useful free tutorials for each of your purpose :)
I don't know if this was for beginners or not but you said scale it without telling how, You picked a black arrow and resized the thing. Not real clear on your part from a comands point of you in general and kinda fast too but not mentioning many commands is worse casue someone could follow you better this way. jeez...
Thank you for your feedback! Most of the shortcuts are already visible on the lower left side of the screen and anyone with some knowledge of blender will be able to atleast understand the workflow. Maybe a bigger shortcut font or some text notes alongside can be added for beginners next time. Speed can be lower but then becomes quite a long tutorial which will be slow for others. It is not as easy as it looks to prepare learning content that fits all. Wait for my training course.
What pc specs did you have whike making this.mines is crashing from just this easy sculpt I won’t be able to actually do anything I want if it crashes on something small like this
Using a 10 year old pc with 1050 ti Gpu. Your crashing can be due to some software issue. This sculpting is very normal level. Try to reinstall latest gpu drivers and blender or you can try some other tutorial which is not sculpting related.
Thank you SO MUCH for this, i was so scared and overwhelmed by super complicated tutorials but you get right to the point & explain it very simply, thank you again!!
Wanted to say a big thank you. You are easy to follow for a beginner. You show each step very clearly and use a simple but just-complex-enough model to illustrate the idea. Will be watching the rest of your tutorials.
Increase the mask strength and then paint mask. It will paint with black color overlay. If there is no mask visible then make sure that object is selected (alt+q). Also check if you applied the subdivision modifier and object has enough face resolution to paint mask.
See if you have cleared the mask. Alt+m. Sometimes it is possible mask is not cleared and no sculpting is working. Check brush strength also, exit sculpt mode and test if you can sculpt on other parts. Thank you!
One of the best sculpting tutorial! But i have question about switching parts of object. I know that you can also untake Lock object mode and switch object parts with alt left click. I think that with alt q it is more convenient but i want to know what is the difference between these keys?
Thank you very much for your comment. I prefer Alt+q and have lock mode on. For Lock mode, it is used to restrict switching of mode when selecting different objects. For example selecting a bone in pose mode and instead clicking some other object that might lead to switch to object mode. I usually keep lock mode on.
Hi, Try a new clean scene with a simple cube. Load a subdivision modifier (3 levels) on it (not only add, apply it as well) or add a multires modifier. Switch to sculpt mode and test. Make sure the brush strength is not too low (Right-click). Select Grab brush (G) and move faces. It should work hopefully.
Check if you have applied the subdivision modifier. Apply it if it is showing modifier list. Low resolution mask is usually due to less polygons. Then add a multi-res with 2-3 levels. Then see if masking improves. Hopefully will work.
Painting I have shown with vertex color in part 2. You can check it out. For the animation, emote avatar thing, this can be looked at in future new tutorials. Thanks for your feedback!
Hi thanks for your tutorial. i just want to ask at 9:21 you pressed F4 but for me it only showed the save button. what is that net thing called? and what's the new hot key for it
Hi, Thank you! For F4 key, I have changed the shortcut to show wireframe. You can set it easily. Go to viewport overlays button (top right corner) where wireframe setting is located. (I have also shown this step in my other cat sculpting tutorial as well).
Hi, the reason to apply scale is needed because blender sculpting brushes will produce incorrect results. This action resets the scale property. Applying scale in blender is needed whenever we change the size of object. Otherwise modifiers like bevel, displacement or sculpting may look not right. Sometimes we can skip as well but better to use it.
Hi, check if all brushes are visible in the side panel. Click and drag to expand the side panel to view or scroll over. In the bottom there should be the move tool. The pivot property is also visible in the sculpt menu in the lower side as there are new settings added in 3.6
Thank you! I understand that problem. If blender is slow, use a remesh value like 0.5 or 1.0. Results will not be very smooth but performance will be better. Add a multires modifier after that with 1 subdivision. Detailed sculpting is generally heavy on performance.
hi! I'm having trouble. Whenever I try sculpting on just the nose, it also sculpts on the face. Idk what setting to turn this off but it's very confusing!
Hi, Switch to the nose with Alt+q it will highlight and you will be able to sculpt. Make sure nose is a separate object. Sorry to know you are finding it confusing but sculpting is slightly difficult at first but with practice it become easier.
Excellent video, I just subscribed to your channel hoping for more 😊. Question: when you added new shapes, they were created with green and white circles and red and blue lines, giving you an easy way to manipulate the shape. Is there a certain setting you turned on to enable that?
Thank you very much! For the lines and circles on the object, just click the transform tool in the top left side menu (box with arrows circle). Whenever you will create a shape it will appear.
i was wondering if you could help me, i was following your tutorial and everything was going fairly well until i got to the masking. on my computer for some reason the masking wasn't as precise and it seems like the resolution for the masking was diff. making it really hard to sculpt out the mouth and eye holes.
Hi, if masking looks low resolution then apply the subdivision modifier first. (click apply button in modifier small arrow) not just only add. That will increase the number of polygons in the mesh. Mask looks clear when base mesh already has more density of polygons. Hopefully it will fix the issue.
Hey...... ummm I need help with this thing that I can not turn off sooo when you use one of the sculpting tools mouse only goes on four sides if you do not uderstand here is the vid = ruclips.net/video/BJt1T3QWmJM/видео.html
Hi, Apply the modifier subdivision first. Click the small arrow in the modifier and select Apply. or you can use the multi res modifier. The reason is the mesh resolution is low with the modifier so it needs to be applied to make it dense before sculpting.
hello, sir. thankyou for incredible tutorial! may i ask why my sculpt going so deep far on mouth when doing move tool? it doesnt go as normal as yours. stamp: 7:48 hope i got explanation, thankyou!
Hi, Thank you for your comment. For the sculpt going too deep, first try to reset scale, ctrl+A in object mode (apply scale) and then sculpt. Next when sculpt is moved, open the move menu which shows in the bottom right corner, adjust the value to reduce it. Another way is to hold shift while moving, it can reduce the movement speed. It can take a little practice but hopefully you will get it.
Thank you so very much, it's amazing how easy it is to make a 3D object following your lead. I'm 68 and wanted that I learned this when I was young (when we didn't have computers). My ultimate goal is to make the flower tutorial you made with all the nodes.....I am so happy, I allready learned so much from just one of your lessons.
Check if you have a multires modifier with 2 - 3 levels subdivision. Then switch to sculpt mode. Alt m to clear any mask. Better to test in a new file to see if your settings are working and reset. Start with the Grab brush (G)
Thank you! Check if the head part is active. Press Alt+Q over the head. Then try sculpting. The object that needs to be sculpted should be active. If it does not works, exit the sculpt mode and try again. Make sure to clear all masks (alt+m). Hopefully, it should work.
Really like the video i have watched many blender tutorials and you don't go too into depth about things we are not going to use right now great job staying on topic nice video learned a lot still have more to learn but i felt i got the basic idea from this video

Even though I would love to hear a bit more about things your doing, since it was my first tutorial for blender i actually used, but it was great anyway ❤ I used 3Ds max before so I understand how 3D modelling works and through this tutorial I leaned where most important tools i used located in Blender + I learned how sculpting actually should look like 👀
Thank you for your comment! First, for the subdivision modifier click the apply button in it (small arrow (shown at 25 seconds also) then after that add the multires modifier. The mask looks low poly because there is not enough resolution. Mask should look smoother after that I it hope it will work!
Hi, please check in the mirror modifier that head is selected as reference to show the other Ear side. Ear will disappear in sculpting because of the mirror modifier. It only hides during sculpting. If you like to see the other ear also then apply the mirror modifier before. In that case, turn on the symmetry option from the top corner during sculpting. Both ears will show.
Man what a great video just what i needed. I haven done much with sculpting function on Blender but now i feel like an idiot trying to do things in the editor mode when it would have been way easier to do so with sculpting
Thank you! Ok, I will try to add a new video for the keybinds soon. Although the custom shortcuts fits my needs it may be not be best for everyone and I mostly recommend others to use whichever ui layout or keys work for them.
For the eyebrow, could you explain why why did you did a 4 level subdivision and then added a multires modifier? Would you be able to get the same effect with just the multires modifier? And thanks for making this! This is a fantastic tutorial and the pacing is perfect.
Thank you for your comments! The reason to use a subdivision modifier before is to add mesh resolution before sculpting. Multi-res is designed to work best when the base mesh already has more faces. Otherwise, there is a need to remesh if the base geo is very low like here a cube and you will need to add a high number of levels in multi-res for smooth sculpting However, this is just one way I showed here, you can use any other way if it works better.
@@Farrukh3D Gotcha, thanks for the reply. So then is there a difference between adding a 3 level subdivision modifier followed by a 2 level multires modifier versus just adding a 5 level multires modifier?
@@DDC-kx3uf Yes, from my experience the performance will be affected when sculpting details at higher levels in multi-res. Rest depends on the type of model and computer specs. However, this may not be noticeable in simple sculpting tasks.
Hi, please first check if you applied the subdivision modifier as shown. Next add a multires modifier with 2-3 levels subdivisions. Increase to 3 if needed. It will create more resolution in the object to sculpt.
Farrukh, I think this has to be one of if not the best tutorial I have watched thank you so much for taking the time and care to demonstrate and explain what to do and how to. I'm going to save your tutorial as my future reference video thank you

I like this video I feel like I'm going to finally be able to get Blender to move now
For wireframe, click the "show overlay menu" (top right corner) in it under geometry heading will be wireframe. Better to assign a shortcut key or add to quick favourites. You can control visibility as well from there. I somehow missed it to show it in the video but I'll add these steps in next video. Thanks!

Thank you for your comment! First, for the subdivision modifier click the apply button in it (small arrow (shown at 25 seconds also) then after that add the multires modifier. The mask looks low poly because there is not enough resolution. Mask should look smoother after that I it hope it will work!
@@Farrukh3D 답변 감사합니다.
multires에서 숫자를 낮게 설정해서 그랬던거였네요. 문제 해결했습니다!
Stucked on Alt+Q part, does not cause any effect on my project 😢 Please help
Muito bom o tutorial, poderia por lip sync nesse personagem, com o sculpt?
Thank you! Yes, you can create blendshapes. Save each lip sculpt pose in a different blendshape. Then you can switch and use them in a animated way.
❤great ..very useful
Thank you so much!
Hey i tried to make and the one ear disappeared idk why but how to fix it?
Hi, please check in the mirror modifier that head is selected as reference to show the other Ear side. Ear will disappear in sculpting because of the mirror modifier. It only hides during sculpting. If you like to see the other ear also then apply the mirror modifier before. In that case, turn on the symmetry option from the top corner during sculpting. Both ears will show.
@@Farrukh3D Thank you for the help, i fixed it. Now I can start the sculpture 😅
I've never felt more powerful
Man what a great video just what i needed. I haven done much with sculpting function on Blender but now i feel like an idiot trying to do things in the editor mode when it would have been way easier to do so with sculpting
Thank you! With practice you will feel more confident and able to sculpt any design! Good luck!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!!!
Very nice. Looking forward to trying this out. :)
Thank you very much!
Why did you put the whiskers under the ears and not to the nose where thesy belong?
Good question! Design is based from Turning Red movie character which have the whiskets on side! But you can position them as you like.
Great easy to follow tutorial :D Could you make a video where you show us your keybinds and how you changed your interface?
Thank you! Ok, I will try to add a new video for the keybinds soon. Although the custom shortcuts fits my needs it may be not be best for everyone and I mostly recommend others to use whichever ui layout or keys work for them.
Very nice ! Pl do more such tutorials . Thank you
Awesome. Please keep creating these easy tutorials. You can cover a lot of objects
Thank you very much!
Otherwise, there is a need to remesh if the base geo is very low like here a cube and you will need to add a high number of levels in multi-res for smooth sculpting
However, this is just one way I showed here, you can use any other way if it works better.
However, this may not be noticeable in simple sculpting tasks.
when I make eye sockets I get very ugly like triangles from the eyes, I don't know how to do it.
Hi, please first check if you applied the subdivision modifier as shown. Next add a multires modifier with 2-3 levels subdivisions. Increase to 3 if needed. It will create more resolution in the object to sculpt.
Farrukh,
I think this has to be one of if not the best tutorial I have watched
thank you so much for taking the time and care to demonstrate and explain what to do and how to. I'm going to save your tutorial as my future reference video
thank you
Thank you very much! Happy to know your comment! More new tutorials soon!
I've been watching so many videos on how to use blender for so long & their either super technical or not giving any information at all, I've been stuck at a point where I literally can't pull at anything in Blender. I like this video I feel like I'm going to finally be able to get Blender to move now
Thank you very much for your comments and feedback. More new content coming soon!
desi brother
how do I turn on the wireframe? My wireframe is not like yours its completely transparent...pls help
For wireframe, click the "show overlay menu" (top right corner) in it under geometry heading will be wireframe. Better to assign a shortcut key or add to quick favourites. You can control visibility as well from there. I somehow missed it to show it in the video but I'll add these steps in next video. Thanks!
@@Farrukh3D Thanks so much!
