Ecclesiastes 9:5 says that the dead are unconscious and know nothing. Like a very deep sleep. But the Bible promises at Acts 24:15: "There is going to be a resurrection." So we can look forward to our loved ones coming back to life in the future right here on earth, as they themselves.
