This is so funny... The doc was like "ive fallen forward before..." but the boat kept driving away didnt it? Anytime I've fallen forward it was because the nose of the board grabbed water which almost instantly stops you and you go down. By the time you hit the water, the boat is already far beyond you.
No it’s because most older boats that aren’t ski boats don’t have inboard motors instead sterndrives or I/o that extend off the back and if you fall towards the prop you could possibly hit it. Versus the inboard which are on most if not all old ski boats have the prop underneath the boat which prevents the chance of falling and hitting it
For anybody wondering… the “dangerous” boat is a stern drive.. the one that’s apparently safer is a direct drive tow boat.. I’ve got a tige direct drive and wake surf off of it all the time 🤷♂️

Geez, wakesurfing has got to be one of the safer sports of that type, assuming you're using the right type of boat. You're going much slower than water skiing or wake boarding, and you don't run the same risk of being slammed face first into the water at 20 mph as with wakeboarding because the board isn't attached to your feet.

The biggest injury I have got from wakesurfing is water going up my nose and maybe the board hitting my head but the board never hurt because the wave is not very strong.

Wakesurfing is MUCH safer than water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc, because it is done at 10-11 MPH. There is virtually ZERO CHANCE OF HITTING THE PROPELLER because wakesurf boats use V-drive systems that position the prop several feet in front of the swim platform. Anyone from 8 to 80 (literally) can enjoy wakesurfing their first time out, and it never gets boring because there are many tricks to learn.
This is kinda dumb because the boat will keep moving forward after you fall even if you fall forward but also in a way I kinda agree that for doing things like tubing or skiing or wake surfing, you should have an inboard boat that has the prop two feet more forward than the back of the boat
Sir I have never seen a damn pontoon boat throw a surf if that’s what you mean by engine to run into. A google search on old school wakesurf boats/ski boats still had the prop under the boat. Very easy to slow down on a wakesurf board very rare do you see a boat throwing a good wave for outboard motors. They I guess need some sort of attachment but I never have ever seen a damn outboard motor throwing down a good surf able wave.
