So true, I don't use windows at home for anything but affinity and adobe but using it on a school device I have never had anything like this, granted I use windows very infrequently outside of school but still some of these are bizzarre
I'm in a very unfortunate situation and have to use a windows machine at work eight hours a day and therefore have witnessed everything. That's what I think anyway, but then new shenanigans start presenting themselves. My M1 mac is older and cheaper than the Lenovo at work, but feels like witchcraft compared to any windows laptop I've touched.
I totally respect his opinion about MacOS vs Windows but I don't know what he used to do with Windows to have these bugs, I have been using Windows 11 ever since it officially came out and never had a single one of those bugs, and my Windows laptop is like 3 years old with no dedicated GPU, I still like how MAC OS integrated into Apple eco system though but I like Windows more.
Wow. IDK why Windows hides refresh rate under "advanced" in the display section, considering it is the 2nd most setting for your monitor (less important than resolution obviously).
He did a really good job at naming the small niche issues that is annoying enough to be peeved about but not enough for people to talk badly online about lol
I absolutely hate that thing. I figured out how to make the animation basically zero but even so, I like to jump between virtual desktops and it takes a noticeable amount of time for the software to transition to a new desktop. Like if I pause a youtube video in one desktop and then jump to the adjacent desktop and type something, the computer thinks I am still on the previous desktop for half a second or so and it will unpause the youtube video. It would be nice to also have an option for the full screen to open on the next desktop not the LAST desktop
@@Outerspacefunk My M1 macbook air is doing great.... except for the battery which has degraded down to 73%. The battery life is still pretty good but I have to plug it in more often.
@@piggyooi Idk, the only thing it has aged it's the design, I'm still use it for 3D molecular models for my college (kinda heavy duty programs), obvs I'm not an engineer or an architect
Same. It has been more than 3 years and except battery everything is working fine. Battery is at 76% but I can't complain. Used it for work and personal stuff, like 60 hours per week.
The most frustrating thing about Macos is inability to manage windows effectively, the maximise to virtual desktop thing is annoying, but nothing on trying to do some work and ending up spending 5 minutes on re sizing windows.
Try using virtual desktops. I literally never have to resize windows, because they are all full or half screen and pinned to their virtual desktops and you can either swipe with three fingers to the desktop you need, or just alt-tab.
I'm a massive PC and Android guy who, like you, tinkered with every setting and customized almost everything. As I aged (32 now), I began to appreciate the minimalistic and simplistic way Apple do things (iOS and MacOS). The integration and quality is just stunning. Resale value is top-notch. Yes, in my experience tho, MacOS and iOS sometimes can't do all the things tech-savvy guys do (we have Windows and Android for that) but for the everyday things that we actually do - Apple excels. Finally, I get it after using Apple gadgets for 4 years now, it is the polished experience. Note: the transition did take a bit of time (and third-party apps lol) even for a self-proclaimed Windows/Android power user like me. All the little differences and nuances of MacOS from Windows but it was fun. I like the consistency in design language and quality. The simplistic magical integration of iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and Airpods is not just an overstatement like the old Apple hater argue all the time in past. It's actually nice. PS - I've been in the Android vs iOS and Windows vs MacOS debate scene for more than a decade (I almost always laughed at these overpriced Apple products) and believe me, most hate content is just out there for clicks and views. Actually experiencing the "Apple way" has its weight. I still use my Android phones and beefy PC mostly for the hacky things and mostly gaming now. Ciao.
My experience is different. I use less my MacBook and more my surface pro. Even copying large files (2gb) from surface/windows to ipadpro works better with iTunes than with airdrop from macbook to ipadpro.^^
@@tomswan3401good for u bro. But copying things thru itunes to your surface is guess requires a cable right? Ofc its fast. Airdrop is for convenience no frills transfer
Your comment made my laugh, becouse i was Android-Windows guy and i had with same Conclusions until 2.5 year ago when i was 32 too 😁 though i have tried macbook for half a hear and couldn't like it , so i still love my windows laptop :)
Another guy who switched to a full-time Mac in 32 😂 (Not making it up) and never going back to Windows. And I am a hardcore coder and a music composer. Mac systems are perfect for what I do.
This is proven by the fact that RUclipsrs still celebrate the Dell XPS line, which is absolute trash through and trough. They might feel good for a week and they might work well for a month and they might not overheat every 30 mins, but the reviewers simply dont care. Its all about the exterior now. OOOH glas trackpad, OOOH CNC Aluminimum, OOOH speakers sound good..... Like the fact that RUclipsrs still blame the CPUs for power consumption, when its the damn Laptop manufacturers terrible motherboard design and troglodite programming with their software. The only one where the motherboard and the software worked perfectly was when I had a razer notebook. The Intel 12th gen CPU would draw 10W under general load and under 3W at idle. This is possible with higher power Intel CPUs too. But then comes the motherboard. the razer one was using 1-2W, I had an Asus notebook where the motherboard alone used 30W+. Since the Laptop manufacturers have a say in how the CPU behaves, I have no hope. Apple can actually manage the CPUs they know better than some HP fool ever would.
My wife has an iPhone and a 16 inch Macbook Pro, and the ecosystem stuff is really cool. It's not going to sell me on them. I like the Android/Linux combo for other reasons, but I do get jealous at how easily her phone and her laptop synergize with each other. And the speakers are _insane._ I'm constantly blown away by the fact that they're _laptop_ speakers.
Edit: Saw a comparison of Pro speakers to Air speakers. Pro sound amazing. Air speakers sound... very un-good. Google messages website is the best option I've found if you don't use KDE (KDE Connect) I'm debating one of these things because POSIX, but I've heard they switched from bash to zsh. the full screen apps, you can make it appear next to your current virtual desktop by enabling "Reorganize Spaces automatically with the most recent" or something like that (I have it in spanish) on the Desktop and Dock menu, however, it could rearrange your spaces in base which ones you click on the dock, that space will go next to your current one...
I actually hate this setting. It moves my virtual desktops all the time. Why there is just no option to move all new maximized apps to the beginning of the "queue"
@@OverFitteryeah, it shouldn’t be that complicated, just put the fullscreen one next to the current space and not rearrange anything else, that’s the type of stuff mac os should fix lmao
The real killer about how macos does fullscreen is that you can't have a fullscreen program on one monitor without it screwing up what you're doing on the other.
I absolutely love how Apple's UI/UX consistency offers an incentive for developers to build not only useful apps but good looking apps. There are so many apps for macOS that fit both of those criteria, with my favorites being Raycast (highly highly recommend), Shottr, Arc (though now coming to Windows), and BatFi.
Memory that's not "in use" by a program is often used by the system to speed up various processes. Basically it's always advantageous to use as much as possible. That's why having more usually results in higher usage as well.
Yeah using all the memory is not the problem, the problem is in using it poorly as he explained in the video. Windows has trash memory management, that it why it slows down even though it shouldn’t be slowing down with given specs
btw never ever use any charger while taking a bath, shower or pool. This small leaking current may kill you in a wet/humid environment!! Use a power bank instead(which isn’t connected to the wall ofc!), this is safe. Sadly, but many people died already while charging their phone from the wall and taking a bath.
RUclips recommended me this video and i just paid for and downloaded all of your wallpapers from this video. Now i am binge watching everything. You are very good and entertaining at making videos man, well done. Love the wallpaper too.
"I dont remember the last time premiere quit unexpectedly on my mac" also quitting unexpectedly on the very video where this was said is so a premiere thing to do
11:27 You can do this with a Windows laptop too. Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does, there just select 'Do nothing' for 'When I close the lid.'
Not the same. Macs are actually very efficient at sleep and fast at wakeup, while choosing this setting just disables sleep completely. Not suitable for portable devices.
I'm not a fanboy but all these bugs you mentioned on windows I've literally never experienced myself nor have I heard anyone else reporting them. You might've had a corrupted windows install.
OMG thankyou for showing BetterDisplay. I thought I'd made a grave error getting a 1440p display for my parent's mac, thinking that would be a good resolution for clarity without blowing the budget on 4k. Now maybe this can fix it looking way ****er than it needs to.
Been thinking of getting a Macbook for myself as I have an iPad mini, and it's not ideal for me to jump through several hoops to send my Note from there to a Windows OS. Thanks for this long term experience review.
Rocking M2 mini 16GB since release month. I came from a custom gaming build. I gave the build to my brother because I honestly got tired of gaming. I went back to my hobby since I was a kid, guitar and bass. I like my experience with recording with M2 mini. Windows was okay too, but occasionally (maybe twice a year, no big deal) I would get crash and blue screen from my audio interface. I haven't had anything close to crashing in my M2 mini. Audio interface don't need drivers (at least the two I use don't). So yeah. I still use Windows for development though, job requirement. I don't really hate it. I love WSL.
I wish Windows had stayed on the design trajectory they were on back on Windows 7, it used to be so much more cohesive. Now it's bloated as fuck, and Windows 11 feels like shit to navigate. I've got an i9-13900H, yet opening the file explorer takes as long as opening Gmail in the browser.
@@mikhail4486 Glad to hear it. But a lot of people have these issues and there isn't really much of an excuse for them. Coincidentally, the best Windows 11 experience in terms of responsiveness/snappiness I've had recently is through Parallels Desktop on an Apple Silicon Mac. So, that's... interesting. On the other hand, my two-year-old Dell laptop takes about 4-6 seconds to open the system tray control center (whatever it's called) the first time each morning and I've seen similar issues on other recent Windows machines. It should be instantaneous.
I thought to be a moderate advanced user, this is the first time on a long time I learn something, thank you for the "betterDisplay"! I my monitor always felt a bit odd and now feels just as it should!
8:01 I find it funny because everyone everywhere complains that you need to touch terminal in linux and here we are watching you opening terminal on mac to deal with an issue
yeah, nice out of the box experiance "Macs just work" when having to google for commands for the command line that sleep/standby/whatever works and doesn't use MORE battery than a normal system in idle with screen turned on. ROFL
the terminal isn't even that scary once you know how to navigate it, it's like a cave lots of possibility, some risk if you don't know what you're doing, but it's not that scary
I have been using MacOS for over 10 years and I never knew you could right click and see multiple instances of the same app. You learn something new everyday. Thanks for this informative video!
At this point, nobody really needs to upgrade every 5 years anyway. I have a 2013 MBA with 4GB (!) of RAM that I bust out when I need to do Mac stuff and it's still completely usable for modern web browsing and light work. We're well into the era of hardware grunt surpassing software bloat.
Heyy that 7:09 switching desktop animation has indeed bothered me for a long time! I'm so glad someone also pointed it out!! My solution is just using Tab+Command, the animation will become much more faster.
I started using a Mac for work. My biggest complaint is its a frustrating experience if you have multiple monitors and use more than one window for the same app. Multitasking feels much faster on Windows in my setup.
The hissing noise is because your charger is not grounded. I had the same issue but once I moved to a USB-C monitor that has a properly grounded plug the hissing is gone. Try to find the adapter that has the grounding pin on it and the hissing sound will be gone.
Settings>Desktop & Dock>Mission Control (bottom of page)>Automatically Rearrange Spaces based on most recent use (untick) For viewing windows, they’re expecting you to use mission control, which on my M1 Air is the F3 button but is also accessible as a three or four finger swipe up on a trackpad. I highly recommend you make sure you’ve gone through all the gesture options and also turn on three-finger dragging if you haven’t already: Accessibility>Pointer Control>Trackpad Options>Use trackpad for dragging (on)>Dragging Style (Three Finger Drag)
I have the exact same model as you, bought it from the first day of release. Easily the best piece of tech I have ever bought, and it still amazes me till this day. Just that my battery drained much faster than you and I have the notch problem (icon on the menu bar hidden in the notch).
That doesn't mean they don't exist. I had my cursor disappear multiple times on my gaming pc with vanilla windows 11 and no other software other than 4 game launchers.
Having used both, windows finder is way slower. I can open up a big 100 Gb folder on mac pretty much instantly, but my PC will take 10x the time to let me access half the content. This may have to do with some software heuristics where it first loads what you immediately need, but nonetheless the finder experience is much nicer. I'm sure having Apple Silicon and Apple SSD makes things easier, but my PC isn't shabby. I have 8 Gb RAM on my mac and 96 Gb on my PC. I have 500 Gb SSD on my mac and 500 Gb + 2TB on my PC. I had pretty much the same experience with my Macbook Pro 13 M1 (16/512). Mostly agree with your review, I use it for work and music production, it is pretty good. Almost 4 years, 270 charging cycles, 88% battery health.
I have basically the same M1 laptop for a little over 2.5 years now and I mostly agree with the review. I actually game on it almost daily without issues. Stuff like Minecraft, Terraria, Factorio, Path of Exile (on Wine) or even more demanding games such as Anno 1800 run very well. It's always a matter of tinkering with it a little to get everything going properly but it's surprisingly powerful. WIsh more games would natively support it though. My experience with Finder was... not as great as yours. Network mounts on Finder are sooo incredibly slow and I really prefer the way File Explorer works. Maybe it's more buggy in Windows 11, never tried it. Since you're worried about durability: one tip to prolong the life of the Macbook's SSD is to keep a good portion of it empty. The more space you're using, the more that wear is distributed across fewer flash cells. Didn't know about the external monitor stuff (barely used it with a monitor, but surely will come in handy). And thanks for the mouse app, was struggling to find a good app for that! Cheers!
Do you use an external ssd or hdd to keep your mac's ssd empty? Have you ever had any issues of your mac not being able to read them or corrupting them in the ExFat format?
I have the same combination except that my 2014 is a MacBook Air also. I just installed Ventura with Open Core on the 2014. It runs like new now, except for the processor obviously being just a bit slower since it’s an Intel I5.
There are so many possible hardware configurations for a PC that these issues can arise from some kind of hardware conflict. Of course, there are many more pieces of third party software that can screw with the registry too. Like others here, I haven't had any of these errors. I find my Windows 11 PC to be as rock solid as my M1 MBA.
I’ve been using the same M1 MacBook Pro as you and also the 16 inch MSI prestige AI Evo which I just dropped a review on. I agree with every single point that you raised here regarding the frustration of both Mac OS and Windows. Well done with this video. !!!
Yeah those are such strange bugs lol. Must be from early versions of W11. For me even things like randomly restarting and updating, a lot of "bloatware" coming after an update or settings changing, I've never had any of those either but they seem common.
Most of these issues are in fact not so isolated. People complain about most of them all the time and I just saw the issue with taskbar icons disappearing earlier today, but on someone else's machine. It happens. None of that is to say that macOS doesn't have its issues.
@@KorekFrost dissapearing taskbar icons happens when you use mutiple virtual desktops which yes it is a bug, but if you dont use that, it wont happen for you.
Because Windows is synonymous with isolated cases lol. You never know what issue your new system will run into. Every Windows PC I have ever built has its own unique weird bugs. My Mac book also runs into issues but it's so much less frequent its actually surprises me when it happens. On the other hand I get surprised when I complete a task end to end on Windows without running into some weird quirk .

When I buy a laptop, I intend to use it for at least 5 to 7 years. I thought that was normal. Problem is, even after that my laptops tend to work, and I don't know how to get rid of them so I can buy a new one. ... by the way, what were you trying to draw at 2:40 ??
I use mine till it dies or becoming too slow to work with, as a heavy user this is like 5-7 years. Then if it still works I backup my data and give it to someone from my family like father etc
Apart from the full screen issue, the only other issue with Apple’s window management is window snapping half screen, quarter screen etc. This is probably the most frustrating and most common complaint all macOS users have. The reason why Apple couldn’t implement it until macOS 15 Sequoia is because Microsoft patented window snapping for 10-15 years which recently expired. So Apple was hamstrung by Microsoft in not being able to provide it earlier. Now, you may be asking then why did Linux have it before macOS? Well that’s to do with the fact there’s so many distros and the open source nature of Linux makes it unlikely Microsoft would be able to get much for patent infringement, so it’s not worth the cost of going to court to chase the many Linux distros for the little money they already make from users. If however Apple introduced it earlier, you can bet your bottom dollar that Microsoft would be suing Apple for every penny they can
Hmm.. file management is where Mac OS shines, and I hate that I can’t get column layout in windows, it’s so easy to organize files. On other hand, I miss context menu of right click like we have in windows, although some design idiot has been slowly killing it in windows.
it could be one of those things when you are used to something and stop noticing until it is suddenly not there (Windows -> MacOS), for touchpad use there's an app called MiddleClick, for when on mouse - can't recall, I use Logitech MX Master 3S and middle click just works there (probably via native Logi Options+ app). External mice - downside is I couldn't get the scrolling be as good as when scrolling on a touchpad. So touchpad - best scrolling on 120Hz display, then Apple Magic Trackpad (smoothness is very close to touchpad) and the rest of what I've tried is meh. Noticeable if the same mouse is used on Windows with 144Hz display.
I upgraded from my 2015 MacBook Pro to a 16“ m3max MacBook Pro with 64gb memory and couldn’t be happier. Yes it is expensive but it just works. And the performance both for creative use (photography and video) as well as for my work where i have to run big and complicated statistical analysis for scientific papers is absolutely fantastic.
Tips on the whole multi desktop animation delay. It's annoying to me too. The slowest way to switch desktops with the longest delay is swiping with the trackpad, a slightly faster way is using Ctrl + Arrow Keys, but the fastest way with the least amount of animation lag is picking the desktop you want and switching to it directly. So if you're on desktop 1 and want to go to desktop 3 use Ctrl + 3. This has the quickest transition and shortest delay
I love Macs. During my exchange year at a high school in the US, I was able to use an M1 MacBook Air. Although I really enjoyed using it, Apple has unfortunately broken their accessibility for blind people like me. macOS, like any other Apple product, has an accessibility feature called VoiceOver, which allows totally blind people to use the computer. It has many features, and it is incredibly fast. However, it has one major flaw: issues with web navigation. Screen readers on Windows, like NVDA, JAWS, or even Narrator, provide a much better experience. I'm a tech guy and have used Linux, Windows, and macOS. Windows seems to be the best option for people like me. Another problem with any operating system besides Windows is the lack of alternative screen reader solutions for the blind. On Windows, we have three or more screen readers to choose from. But if I were sighted, there’s no way I would use Windows again. I hate Microsoft.
Very good to be aware of the keyboard shortcut ”Move focus to the next window” which can be set in System Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts... -> Keyboard. With this you can ”flip” through open windows in the frontmost app (reverse flip order by adding the shift key to the mix).
The hissing in the IEMs while charging cable is plugged, can be prevented if you get a grounded charger. In the US apple sells a 3-prong adapter for the default charging brick that will ground the charger, then the IEMs will be hiss free. Also, the adapter can easily be bought on Amazon for cheaper.
May I give you Windows users a tip: after I stopped tinkering and messing with things Microsoft wouldn't like me to mess and atarted using it the way they want me to use, bugs and crashes became rare. Yes, there's a lot of customization I'd like to make, but now I limit myself to those Microsoft implements in system, not from third party apps. Try it for yourselves, do a clean install and don't mess around. Things just works
Yes, I've not had Windows crash in years despite installing a lot of random software, nothing that messes with Windows though. I got a m2 pro mac mini for the power savings and play with macOS. I think for non-tech people macOS is very good as it obfuscates a lot of things for the most part, the way apps are installed is very nice as are the "hidden" folder structures that the average user does not need to see. I think he's correct though, a gaming windows PC and mac mini/laptop is the best of both worlds, thing is I barely game so my windows PC rarely gets used now in all honesty.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet. You can remove the animation from switching desktops by turning on "Reduce Motion". "Accessibility" -> "Display" -> "Reduce motion"
I've been using windows all my life as a Programmer and have never had any of those issue. I know windows is not perfect and Mac may be better but common. And for some reason my laptop has never auto restarted because of an update. And my laptop is not not even an high end one. I think Windows should be given credit because it's running on multiple hardware with different variables at play. And this accessibility means a lot. When complaints like this are made out of context. It make this companies become more like Apple which we don't want.
i know you mentioned Al Dente being a channel sponsor, but honestly, for the past 7 years, and 2 MacBooks later, my random battery drains have been caused by it. i finally just started to rely on Apple's basic Battery Optimizations that's built-in the settings app and uninstalled it, and i suddenly stopped seeing battery drain myself
They indeed are the main air intake ports: ruclips.net/user/liveexM1uajp--A?si=OlyLKafQ5yZH3aep&t=1905 But also some of the air comes from the middle of display hinge. The side air intake ports were not common on Macbooks before this Pro though.
I've been using a 2018 Macbook Air for 6 years, and it's still going strong. My only problem is running out of storage since it only has 128gb of storage.
I hate the downgrade in productivity mac os is bringing to the table. I work with it and I cannot switch to a windows laptop. I dont understand why when you swipe with 3 fingers the windows are always at a different place. I hate this thing with two instances of same app. So many small things that are so 180 degrees than what you would want it to be, and then you go on reddit and ask stuff and people who spent $2600 on this machine getting all sad that they did, and tell you how wrong you are. If I am wrong, why are there so, so so so many 3rd party apps, only a handful are free, to fix the issues mac os has? Gee, I wonder why. Well, maybe I am wrong like reddit fanboys claim. EDIT: The MX Master is perfect. but on a Mac? I have tried every post and solution to it. and I mean EVERY. still has lag and horrible refresh rate (both visually and tracking). Hook it up to a 15 year old thinkpad? PERFECT. putting it again on my M3 machine? Like I am using a rock table. Hate mac.
Yeah, the thing with the MX Master and other mice is so dumb, and is a good example of how Apple kneecaps anything not made by them or in partnership with them by not doing anything to support standards or like intentionally disabling smooth scrolling for any non apple mouse. I really like their hardware and the M series chips have been really cool, but their software is most of the time so backwards and frustrating compared to Linux or Windows, and their overall behavior toward anything non-Apple just feels childish.
I bought the exact same laptop 2 years ago as well, and to this date I have no regrets. It's a fantastic machine and still runs just as fast and smooth as it did the day I took it out of the box. Only reason I might upgrade it at this point is whenever the M5 Pros or something roll around and I can get a significant performance upgrade in supported games and when I use Unreal on it.
yeah, and how the fuck are you supposed to change UNIFIED RAM? Just get more ram from them. The storage I get it, overpriced. But they have the FASTEST ram on market, of course its heavily priced.
@@Buzzttok Honestly yeah, I never thought of that. I guess Apple could make their own modules, but why would they waste time on that when they could be doing other things?

This is not a fair comparison as you are comparing a Macbook to a self-assembled Windows PC. Why? Because a Macbook is designed from the ground up with components that are made for each other and tested throughly before being released in the market w.r.t compatibility of their internal components as well as software. None of that is the case with a randomly assembled Windows PC. I have assembled several PCs and issues like the ones you mentioned are typical in systems put together without enough research on compatibility of the parts. A fair comparison would have been a Thinkpad with a Macbook. I have been using Thinkpads with Windows since the last 17 or so years and I have never had any of the 'Windows bugs and issues' that you talk about. Thinkpads are rock solid, smooth, fast, extremely reliable and just go on and on. I use both Windows and Mac (have an M3 Macbook Pro bought in 2024 and a Thinkpad P70 bought in 2015) and I like Macbooks M3 processor but do not like the MacOS at all for it's terrible and archaic Window management, its WYSIWYG font rendering (as opposed to Window's Cleartype) and horrendous GUI user experience. Everything takes way more clicks and key presses on the MacOS (ex. see this - www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/12g0p6y/comment/lp653k0/?). I also have Fedora 40 with KDE Plasma running on another Thinkpad and it's just amazing in terms of GUI, Windows Management and navigation.
Windows uncontrollable updates once ruined a huge contract because the director wasn’t able to print a contract which he saved on his desktop and his computer suddenly felt like installing an update. He is using a mac ever since and I’m also switched the next day after the accident.
I NEVER had an uncontrollable Windows Update my entire life. But I also don't let Windows run over night. Right now on Windows 11 I do. NEVER had a restart. Also, If you have some sort of patch management within a program in your company, this program does this and Windows Updates don't start on themself. The "forced" updates and "forced" restarts happen to those who NEVER patch their systems and NEVER restart their systems, no matter how often ask because of a pending update. And to avoid having unpatched and therefore more infected systems, larger botnets etc, MS decided to force ppl to Update and restart. And if you don't want to, you can pause Windows Updates for up to 3 weeks. And when having a managed software (like it should be in companies), the admins decide when to roll out Windows Updates and when not to. And also THEN, YOU decide when to restart your Windows Computer. but after some time (DAYS) have passed, maybe Microsoft forces the restart because of pensing updates - i don't know. But then it is because of those morons who ignore every warning, message etc and never install updates or restart and just click "x" whenever anything pops up.
@@philipppuchner1115 this was a corporate computer under the corporate group policies, so updates were installed regularly. Like you’re stupid child and you can’t decide for yourself and take the responsibility for your actions. Yeah, if I delay the updates too long, MY computer will probably get infected or something. So what? This is my property, not microsoft’s. They act like they own your computer. On Mac updates are displayed as a notification and you decide when to install it. @@epicmap Oh, that's unfortunate. Then it was badly managed and not individualised. For the following statement: I'am with you. But look at MS: Why do you think they did it? Fore people into installing Updates and making disabling Updates impossible? Too many unpatched systems. Too many botnets. Too many by criminals controlled systems for a lot of different reasons (despite spam, spyware, phishing etc servers). That had to get better, otherwise it would have made Windows the unsafest OS in the world. Or maybe also national security agencies have an interest in not loosing the cyberwar against too many highjacked devices? I mean, the more remote controlled devices, the more raw power there is for exampe DDOS attacks. And those super simple attacks are very effective in making servers and the services on those inaccessible to the whole world! When did it happen that for ca 2 weeks a whole country was dead? Also the bank servers, so people didn't get any money, couldn't pay anything, making no transaction? Something like this could have catastrophic effects. Windows is the most used OS on any devices connected to the internet by far. And there are also the oldest and unsafest versions online (compared to smartphones, which get replaced more often as the old windows computer or laptop - but it may change). Just hating MS for their decision to force people a little bit to update and restart regularly is generally for >99% or the time and people a good time. If a company policy makes the laptop shutdown and restart during a presentation, well, if the device is managed, then the fault is with the management of that software. If the other OS is also managed, then what difference does the OS make? Or is it just, that the way that this windows laptop was managed is not possible in the same exact way in macOS, and therefore, the boss said well IT guys, fk it, you don't get me here. ... So, if no group policy would have triggered, if the Laptop would have been unmanaged like any other device, it wouldn't have happened. That is what i get out of this.
1. windows - samsung ecosystem is system is better than mac - iphone system. P.s i did not mention samsung eco system or apple ecosystem, i'm just mentioning a component of the system. 2. Windows ram management is worse. A 8gb laptop running windows with the lastest cpu still gaves a bad experience. 3. I've been gaming and working on windows since windows 98 and I have not faced any bugs apart from things not copying. 4. Windows updates randomly starting downlaoding/unpacking and makes lower end pcs fight for their life. But never has it updated for me unless i instructed it to.
My first windows exp is from 3.1 and I was 100% on windows until Vista. Vista was what really started my switch to Mac. Even though I didn’t switch right away. I think it took Win8 to get me to finally try a Mac but now, my primary OS has been macOS ever since. Even Linux is better than windows at this point.
I’m a M1 owner and I’m worrying about the software support. Since you can’t use linux or windows yet(Asahi linux isn’t ready), when MacOS support ends, it will quickly become something like an old iPhone laying around your room. Not very safe to use, less and less apps supporting it, etc.
Mac is a computer that just works. You open a lid of a freshly bought mac and just start working with no troubleshoots of updating drivers which windows also tends to mess up because of its forced updates.
@@ninjanerdstudent6937 I'm just saying things that happened to my PC. There's only one critical issue that happened to my MacBook when sound icon became inactive and I couldn't change the volume, Restarting once didn't help, but doing it the second time fixed it. Once I had to set up Zoom app for my dad on his Windows laptop and the camera was shacking constantly while in Google Meet everything was fine. You can't trust Windows laptops to let them sleep as the guy in the video said. My brother's Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3 laptop showed black screen on startup after some sleep. Restarting and charging didn't help. Then I found Ctrl+win+shift+b combination to reset graphics settings and it finally started up properly. Then, a month later, he had this issue again and this combination didn't help. He had to wait 2 days to let the laptop discharge a bit and then it was fine.
Literally most nonsensical statement ever. MacOS, despite some flaws, is a millions times more noob and beginner friendly with how intuitive it is. Imagine having to install and figure out bios and driver updates constantly with a new computer

FINALLY someone who points out the bad desktop switching animation with higher refresh rates...
You can reduce the animation/motion if you go to accessibility settings. The desktop switching gave me a headache on high refresh screens.

Ciao.

Memory that's not "in use" by a program is often used by the system to speed up various processes. Basically it's always advantageous to use as much as possible. That's why having more usually results in higher usage as well.

I like macbooks as overall package, but I just hate the UI and window management of macos, it is chaotic and absolutely stupid.
Tbh the subtle ad is really good at 9:39
This is how ads should work.
3:33 😂😂😂 this never happened to me, and I had a 2009 Celeron laptop and 4GB of RAM
Better display Mac!!! Absolute legend I never realised there was such a simple fix for that back of my mind problem
5:37 dude......... how have i never known
it could be one of those things when you are used to something and stop noticing until it is suddenly not there (Windows -> MacOS), for touchpad use there's an app called MiddleClick, for when on mouse - can't recall, I use Logitech MX Master 3S and middle click just works there (probably via native Logi Options+ app). External mice - downside is I couldn't get the scrolling be as good as when scrolling on a touchpad. So touchpad - best scrolling on 120Hz display, then Apple Magic Trackpad (smoothness is very close to touchpad) and the rest of what I've tried is meh. Noticeable if the same mouse is used on Windows with 144Hz display.
the hardware is unmatched tbh the feeling you get from the typing and trackpad is soo good
0:47 BRO HAD SO MUCH SAFARI WINDOWS HIS MAC LAGGED💀💀
I upgraded from my 2015 MacBook Pro to a 16“ m3max MacBook Pro with 64gb memory and couldn’t be happier. Yes it is expensive but it just works. And the performance both for creative use (photography and video) as well as for my work where i have to run big and complicated statistical analysis for scientific papers is absolutely fantastic.
"you won't get randomly flashbanged browsing through settings..." hahaha well played
He's running the most cursed version of windows
Windows ME
The hissing in the IEMs while charging cable is plugged, can be prevented if you get a grounded charger. In the US apple sells a 3-prong adapter for the default charging brick that will ground the charger, then the IEMs will be hiss free. Also, the adapter can easily be bought on Amazon for cheaper.
I wish my girlfriend was hiss free
"That's what SHE said" 😂
I've been using windows all my life as a Programmer and have never had any of those issue.
10:50 pretty sure that's not the air intake but the exit for the bass of the speakers. the intake for the fans should be where the display hinge is
They indeed are the main air intake ports: ruclips.net/user/liveexM1uajp--A?si=OlyLKafQ5yZH3aep&t=1905
But also some of the air comes from the middle of display hinge. The side air intake ports were not common on Macbooks before this Pro though.
@@rolandtlvr That's weird, I thought it was just for the speakers as if you cover it, the sound gets affected.
It's both
I've been using a 2018 Macbook Air for 6 years, and it's still going strong. My only problem is running out of storage since it only has 128gb of storage.
@gleli0888 buy an external ssd i suggest samsung
I've been using a 2011 Macbook Air for 1 year, and it's still going strong.
12:43 wait what? The bottom panel on MacBooks are plastic? Am I missing something here
He’s wrong. They’re also made of aluminium
Woah you go DEEP - great review
11:54 😂😂😂
6:40 FINALLY someone mentioning this. It's so annoying working with multiple desktops for this reason.
EDIT:
The MX Master is perfect. but on a Mac? I have tried every post and solution to it. and I mean EVERY. still has lag and horrible refresh rate (both visually and tracking). Hook it up to a 15 year old thinkpad? PERFECT. putting it again on my M3 machine? Like I am using a rock table. Hate mac.
Yeah, the thing with the MX Master and other mice is so dumb, and is a good example of how Apple kneecaps anything not made by them or in partnership with them by not doing anything to support standards or like intentionally disabling smooth scrolling for any non apple mouse. I really like their hardware and the M series chips have been really cool, but their software is most of the time so backwards and frustrating compared to Linux or Windows, and their overall behavior toward anything non-Apple just feels childish.
sounds like a you problem buddy
@@sirfabyansounds like you are just being a contrarian because someone said something you don't like
I bought the exact same laptop 2 years ago as well, and to this date I have no regrets. It's a fantastic machine and still runs just as fast and smooth as it did the day I took it out of the box. Only reason I might upgrade it at this point is whenever the M5 Pros or something roll around and I can get a significant performance upgrade in supported games and when I use Unreal on it.
14:57 that’s not a fair comparison, you’re comparing an NVME drive to RAM, of course RAM is going to cost more
yeah, and how the fuck are you supposed to change UNIFIED RAM? Just get more ram from them. The storage I get it, overpriced.
But they have the FASTEST ram on market, of course its heavily priced.
@@Buzzttok Honestly yeah, I never thought of that. I guess Apple could make their own modules, but why would they waste time on that when they could be doing other things?
@@tabbycat406They arent making the modules i think. Its just the fact that the memory gpu and cpu is in ONE package instead of being spread out. That is why the speed IS the best.
This is one of the if not the best long term review. Extra points for showcasing TF2 haha
This is an incredibly good long term review
This particular update happened during the power on sequence and the problem is it can’t be canceled once it started and you can’t opt in to install it, it happens by default without asking or respecting your time and will.
Security updates can be configured to install automatically.
You became my top5 fav youtuber lmaoo so funny and so relatable
I just can't get over that ugly notch.
I'll only buy mac when they remove that atrocity

Great video! Can confirm. I have a 16in M1 Pro and the experience has been flawless
1. windows - samsung ecosystem is system is better than mac - iphone system.
As someone addicted to pinning tabs to save space (I open so many tabs). The 'scroll button' to 'close tab' is OP. Thank Youuuu.
I’m a M1 owner and I’m worrying about the software support. Since you can’t use linux or windows yet(Asahi linux isn’t ready), when MacOS support ends, it will quickly become something like an old iPhone laying around your room. Not very safe to use, less and less apps supporting it, etc.
It ends at 2030
Loved the flashbang reference
lol I wasn't sure if that was a porn reference 😂
My reason for not buying a Mac has never been cost, but I do not want to learn the Mac's idiosyncrasies. I like having a computer that just works.
Mac is a computer that just works. You open a lid of a freshly bought mac and just start working with no troubleshoots of updating drivers which windows also tends to mess up because of its forced updates.
@@sturmx96 You lie. Stop being a liar.
