Baby Elephant Khanyisa Gulps Down Milk Bottles 🍼 & Mischievous Mambo Grazes Next to Her

- Khanyisa waits for her milk bottles 🍼 and when they arrive, her adoptive mother Lundi moves in to watch over her protectively. Khanyisa gulps down her formula as carer Emmanuel helps and then she returns to foraging on the lush vegetation. She feeds beside Lundi and soon Lundi’s son, Mambo joins in. Mambo is typically boisterous and breaks a tree right next to Khanyisa with little regard for the calf. Khanyisa is wise to his antics and walks away to stay close to mama Lundi. Ah, family time…
I thought how wonderful Lundi is close to Khanyisa--I was beginning to wonder if I missed it every time foster mum did her mothering. It was obvious she was willing to adopt Little Khanyisa the first time Adine introduced them, Lundi moved her front leg forward to let Khanyisa comfort feed. Then the next video I saw Little Khanyisa plunked down for a nap and Kumbura set a land speed record racing over to protect the sleeping baby, standing tall and big head swiveling like a radar. And I just fell in love with her. As for Lundi I wonder, based on this video, if she has a difficult balancing act. If she's close to Khanyisa then Mischievous Mambo is too!
Maybe Mambo is just showing off his strength - giving khanyisa an up close and personal demonstration.
Amazing that he can destroy the tree so easily but not injur khanyisa at all.
It seems khanyisa would trumpet if she felt unsafe. Lundi is protective when khanyisa getting her bottles, yet seemed unconcerned enough to turn away and move off with Mambo destroying a tree all around khanyisa? Maybe Lundi wasn't sensing reckless aggression? I know I was worried about khanyisa's eyes and delicate skin.

Thank you for this early Christmas gift. I love seeing Khanyisa along with Lundi. She knows it's her mother, altough she sleeps with Tokwe. I'm glad she is drinking well again. There is no problem with the wound in her mouth. And Yess Mambo is Mambo, he's a bit rough, but is careful with Khanyisa. He's young but he's growing big. He is towering over Lundi now. Bubi was safe this time. She has a place in my heart. I feel very much for her.

It looked like our little Braveheart Meisiekind was getting buried under the branches that Mambo broke off but then Khanyisa got smart and moved over to join Lundi for her own safety. She is very wise to the shenanigans of Mr. Mambo.

Wow! I don't see how Khanyisa stayed safe under all that branch and tree twisting by Mambo! So glad she is safe. She sure didn't show any fear of him or cowardice whatsoever! I think Khanyisa is going to be one independent, strong character of an ellie! you go little girl!
This is the first time , I can recall, Lundi being referred to as Khanyisa's mother and not her adopted mom ....I like that because as far as Lundi (and Khanyisa) is concerned she is Mom :) Thank you for the gift of watching a herd of unique ( and some rare) elephants living their lives . Yes. When it's not "adopted" or "foster," in front of the words Mom, Dad , .sister, brother, parents etc , it suddenly does feel like the real thing. It suddenly Is a family.

Ah this is perfect Christmas Eve treat to watch there’s nothing quite like family time with the herd. Khanyisa Braveheart is growing big and strong from all her delicious milk bottles(glad the kinks were ironed out and she’s back to guzzling them down with gusto)The wild is looking gloriously green a perfect oasis for the elephants and many others who call it home,Mother Nature has come through with so much delicious bounty. I love nothing more than seeing these precious souls content and thriving simply enjoying life and each other they truly are beautiful unique treasures and I’m so grateful for them and all they’ve taught me. Sometimes I worry about Mambo. He's so fill of male hormone beans, and I fear the herd is too tame for him.
But the wild elephants didn't want him that time he ran away and tried to join them ...

Mambo loves to show off how strong he is. Our little Meisiekind. when she's on a mission, nothing fazes her. The tree almost fell on top of her. But she soon got the message to high tail it out of there. It was a very close call when Mischievous Mambo came face to face with Bubi. I held my breath. It was great to see Khanyisa happily drinking the milk. We here in the States have been hit hard by frigid arctic temperatures that reached -40 celsius and more with the wind chill. But Santa Claus is on his way in his sleigh! I wish you all at the HERD a very Merry Christmas!

Nice to see that little miss Sunshine is back to her own self and gulps down her milk bottles though she remains adventurous by staying next to Mambo during his impressive show of force but eventually Khanyisa returns swiftly to mama Lundi in safer ground Mambo is a beautiful very strong young Bull but he still lacks a hint of common sense He should hang out a little bit more with smart Somopane like his friend Zindoga If he takes out to Bubi it may be that he finds that she has too much influence on her son and he would prefer Zindoga to be a little bit more mischevious like him Just a thought ! Hey everybody I personally think that Mambo knew he was being filmed!!! Mambos day is coming!!! It might not be to soon but when he’s the Top Bull - Mambo is going to be No.1 for a long time!!! That was so funny watching The Babygirl buried under all of those branches but she just kept on eating!!! 😂😂😂

Ah this is when it would have been grand to have Fish the Man there as Mambo intentionally walked in front of Lundi, and made what I perceived as aggressive moves beside khanysia. He just stepped over a fine line, in not respecting his Mom's position, and then invading khanysia space. I believe Somopane or even Jabu would have been on high alert if they'd seen Mambo actions, and Fish the Man would have gotten between him and khanysia, and nudged him away.
Yes! I am learning so much about elephant behavior and the hierarchy of the herd. Our Man Fish or even the other bulls like Jabulani would be great role models for Mambo. He really needs to learn his place in the herd.

Wow 😮The mischievous Mambo showing off his strength all right, but I was so worried about Khanyisa …so close and still fragile, also I thought she needed the shade for her sensitive skin and eyes provided by the very tree the mischievous Mambo destroyed…! However, none of carers nor even Adine seemed to be concerned, neither of even Lundi the adopted mother of our beloved Khanyisa showed concern at all… Then finally Khanyisa moved away from the dangerous dude and went to join her protective mother Lundi. That was a relief to me!!
After all, would Khanyisa have trumpeted if / when she felt scared? Then at this occasion she wasn’t really scared of Mambo at all? Or was she scared but trying to cope with it until she couldn’t take it anymore and left? But while I was watching her closely when Mambo was destroying the tree, our beloved pink baby elephant was chewing aka eating right there…! Perhaps, she was so focused on feeding herself, she didn’t even realize what Mambo was doing? Either way, she wasn’t hurt for sure.

Wow mischievous Mambo saying to Khanyisa no you do it this way! That sure was a demolition derby there with the tree and Khanyisa not fazed at all, luckily he didn’t dong her on the head. 2 things: The Trunk people watch the bottle feeding very closely every time. It's kind of like they're waiting to be called up so they can have their own bottle without obviously standing there with their trunks up and mouths open like before... I am curious: do male elephants still respect their mothers as they grow older and stronger? Because Mambo has no respect to Bubi and chases and even injures her. Khanyise doesn't seem to be impressed by the destructive actions of Mambo
Elephants usually are naturally very compassionate and love each other very unconditionally. See the bonding between Khanyisa and the older phants, or even among the older phants. But also, most of them are female. Male phants go into musth where they get aggressive and even violent if they're disturbed (which isn't really the other phants' fault since they're just trying to bond, and really enjoy doing so unless they're a male in musth). So with Mambo, he's acting badly because he's growing up and starting to go in musth.

Elephants are hard grazers on a landscape, they need a big range to avoid destructive over-grazing. With loss of natural habitat it's easy to see why farmers can be at odds with ele herds.
And phants eat large quantities of vegetation. One square acre full of grass and plants to one phant is equal to one bowl of salad to us
Mambo is really wild, are yall thinking he ll leave the heard or is he too young?
He’s already tried once, running away for 3 days to follow the wild herd, but they rejected him. When he was brought back by the caregivers, mom gave him a few good wallops with her trunk lol 😂.

There is a difference - Ellie’s care for they environments; many men show disregard and disrespect thinking they can go elsewhere after destructing and permanently poisoning the environment…. Mambo and young male elephants opening new spaces for grasses and trees to sprout is creating new spaces with their environments for new growth…. Only a human with strong Goniff tendencies demonstrates such disrespect and disregarding approaches to the world.

Could it be that Mambo is actually a potentially rather more dangerous elephant bull than - say - Sebakwe? Because the latter is - due to his being the first in hierarchy - a more or less predictable personality and does not have to "prove" himself in the same way?

Which ellie is best able to stand up to Mambo and put him in his place?
Sebakwe Jabu and Fish have all disciplined Mambo at one time or another throughout different video’s when it’s necessary. Somopane is typically the peacemaker and avoider of drama but he’s also stepped in to discipline the boys as well.
