Khanyisa is Huge! Carer Owen Helps the Baby Elephant to Roots with Bubi!

- It’s always a shock to see Khanyisa next to a human versus the elephants in her herd. When she’s standing alongside humans, you truly see how big she has grown! She diminutive when beside her herd though. Here we watch Owen helping break pieces of bark off of the root for Khanyisa since her still young trunk is not as adept at the task. Owen uses a rock for the job but elephants like Bubi have much more strength and can use their tusks, feet and trunks to help with pulling bark from the root or stem of a tree. Enjoy some sweet Bubi and Khanyisa time as the allomother keeps a good watch over the young elephant in her care.

Two very special souls who experienced unthinkable trauma and pain but in turn they both help each other heal which is so beautiful. Meisekind gives Bubi purpose to do what she loves most giving all of herself to the little ones without question,I sometimes get really emotional just watching them together knowing what they went through and seeing them so bonded now is truly special.🌅🐘💜

Good morning to a very curious Khanyisa Braveheart and her family she’s examining that root quite intensely just a baby elephant learning the ways of her wilderness the way it should be. There’s nothing like a helping hand to get you what you need when a little trunk isn’t quite strong enough,it warms my heart to see her constantly surrounded by so much support and love. The comparisons in size were interesting also, first Fishan, then Bubi and then Owen. Amazing how she’s grown so beautifully, of course, due to the loving care she receives!🧡
It would be so incredible if Bubi or Khanyisa starts picking up a rock and knocking off bark from tree trunks just from watching Owen do it. Don't underestimate elephant intelligence because we know they know how to use tools and learn from observation.

I thought that root looked like the one Zindoga 🐘 was working on until Fishan 🐘 came and took his place. It's very sweet to see Khaynisa 🐘 getting help from Owen. I really love our elephant herd and could watch them all day . What makes this extra special is also learning about the enviroment that lives along side them. An author from here in Canada (R.D.Lawrence) wrote a book on a cougar he studied and made sure to include this cat's entire surroundings . I don't think you can truly understand an animal if you don't also understand it's world as well :) Thank you for including the elephants world for us :)

What a cute video. Our dear, getting dearer but much bigger Khanyisa was determined to finish off that root. Elephants never ever forget. It was so nice of Owen to scrape off some bark for her, while Bubi watched intently as to what he was doing. Maybe Bubi was thinking these humans have no tusks, what does Owen have in his hand? It's always nice to see Bubi and Meisiekind together. Watching her today I could see the progress she is making in learning these elephant skills!
