How can anyone do anything but grin while watching them dance, tbh? The joy and celebration is contagious! It's cool how everywhere from Japan to Ireland to here in the states, we all have a long history of stomping dances like this :) Hell, dancing in general, whether to tell a story or just to be in the moment with our bodies, is such a beautifully universal human tradition. And there are as many ways to dance as stars in the sky. I love that for us :')
I synced this awesome shit to my karaoke machine and went to town in my living room and got just winded! These dancers deserve so much praise! Holy heck was that beautiful and fun!
as a boriqua who has LOTS of native Taino in the family from both sides, this song makes my blood run like electricity. everything about it makes me think about my roots and how proud i am to be me💕
Something about just listening to this just made me emotional and I have not one clue what’s being said or done. All I know is they are connected to each other but it’s soo greatly inspirational and intimate. Love this
That buck skinner in blue just needed those awesome dozen or so specialty personal moves. He had what the other dancers needed in their flow. While the other had the flow and a few stop and do a move points. Ya know? I've been a world champ in my own right as a grass dancer in my time. A dozen powwows a dozen years in a roll and constant 1st place wins. When tiny tots was contest you had to win or don't get paid. But it taught us humility and that kept us from becoming a sore loser

but these people have danced like this long before europeans settled in north america, dancing is a way of expressing your soul, in most cultures people danced to commune with their gods and ancestors
🤔 I am watching the feet and now I am compelled to go outside and observe a crow move to make a comparison. I know that crows kind of bounce while pecking salt from the road.
what does this mean? you like the native connection? you are part native and have been away from the SPIRIT of things for too long? what do you mean by the abouve statement?
I dont tell people i have Original Nation blood in me. I dont have THAT much identity crisis going on. But watching a lot of these dance vids after going to a Pow Wow a few years back, makes me want to dance in the same Ragalia. Emulation is the highest compliment🫡

Dancing has been used in many different cultures, especially by opressed people, as a form of resistance. Music is mightier than war
Music is magic just like math

That first dancer on the left went backwards..traditional dancers are NEVER SUPPOSED TO GO BACKWARDS ITS A SIGN OF RETREAT.
It depends on your tribe. Some only can’t go backwards on sneak ups some don’t do it at all. Different tribes tell stories different
