Fantastic video ♡ The talent, skill and respect for their culture that these Warriors have and show us is Incredible and Inspiring! This one of the Best dances that I have seen in a long time. You could see and feel the Spirit & Respect of Dedication that these Warriors brought forth. I am Incredibly Moved & Blessed to have witnessed this 'Warrior Dance'. Thank you for sharing and I will be sharing this Wonderful Blessing. Keep the Honor, Spirit, and Knowledge of our Sacred Life continuing for Future Generations. Blessings ♡
22 July 2017 I was in Chiefswood, Brandford, On, Canada, I danced with Shawnee many dances. Blessings for Sath-Okh, Shawnee, Polish II WW Hero - know as Stanislaw Suplatowicz.
He can be telling a story, thats the reason for the traditional dancers they tell a story by thier moves like hunting, or tracking an enemy. He could be telling a story about his own experiences in war. Maybe he never been in war idk really but its what you interpret
Those two are from local Ohlone Tribe. Stanford Univ is on their ancestors' land. Their own tribal dance is not same as plains powwow, so they are doing their own powwow style, their way. The Chumash in my other videos usually dress in their own way, and dance their own tribal steps during powwow. All good.
Plus, traditionally when his eyes are on a big whale, he might dig & try to cook a puppy, with feta cheese, & olive oil to dip in bruschetta with coconut water flavored poweraide!
Do you do Southern California PowWows? If so please get a hold of some Coordinators cause we really need new drums to dance to. Loved your song. Keep up the awesome energy.
I love watching these dancers....I do have one question...is there any Black Foot dancers ? Asking, because I would love to see them (my husband is part black foot )
I miss dancing but I haven't been able to find any powwow's here in Missouri, if anyone knows of any please let me know. When I lived in California I was at as many Powwows that I could make it to, I had so much fun.
On InstaGram look for "Powwow Flyers". They have a lot of upcoming pw's flyers. From Missouri, you will have some long powwow trips! Mayetta, Kansas in September, the Prairie Band of Potawatomie annual pw. Alabama has annual Poarch Creek Tribe. In Kinder, Louisiana in June is another indoor powwow. Finally, OKLAHOMA has powwows All The Time! Everywhere!
2 songs. 1st song is a "Sneak-up" song. It's a storytelling song, the dancers are in a battle, trying to sneak up to capture a cannon. Movements & gestures tell their story. When all dancers come together in the center, ( seize the cannon ) they dance back out for their celebration. 2nd song is a "Crowhop" song. If you see crows on the ground hopping, that is the inspiration for dancers to use big steps on the beat of the drum. 2 different songs, different meanings, different steps.
were you there? haha I ask cuz I only saw Battle Axe. I know the MC says Battle HORSE. But, those MC's do so many powwows, once in a while they mix up names.

I actually have some sage .So i in school I'm still in school by the way i am 8. So it's cool I made a medicine pouch if you don't know what a medicine pouch like you put something in it that makes you happy of course it's very small so you cannot put a huge teddy bear and I'm not sure if Cree had it but I know first Nations made it and if you also don't know what sage is you can make tea with it but so you have to have to have like this big cigarette it's not it's not actually a cigarette it just looks like one and then I'm not sure how you do it but I think you put fire on it on the big cigarette and you put it on fire and then put sage in it and wave it around . And also first nations would have this thing I forgot what it is called but when they kill before or after they kill an animal they put that I think after they kill the animal they put that where the animal was standing and they hope that them goes to heaven 💕💕💕💕💕💞💞💞💞💞
It bothers me when Mc makes a joke during specific events. Not so much of making a comment, but trying to make jokes during the actual dances. Am I the only one?
@Tara R The government hates them because they beat them in battle so now they have to continue to make an example of them generations down the line. As for the average white person, I think that most of them avoided the American Indian to be honest with you.
Jason Lloyd technically this current generation didn’t survive any genocide cause the genocide ended in roughly 1900 or so... so no they are survivors of anything like that. Not to mention, it’s still debated among historians if we can call it a genocide. By default, yes perhaps. Plenty of 19th century white and then free black Americans wanted to clear out the Indians for good, but the US government never had a policy of “kill them all” so technically the US conquest of the continent was a war, not a genocide. People involved in it were definitely genocidal though
Winaska ? Where did you get that bullshit false history? The genocide hasn't entirely ended or the fact we've been kept down and still to this day but I'm not crying I'm nobodies victim, I'm a survivor and a warrior... You need to open your eyes, wake up..
My oldest son is Wendall Powless. Hes been dancing since he could walk. I am so proud of him carrying on his tradition!!
I. Could. Do. That
"They're sneaking up on the commodity warehouse". Damn our people captured beauty and disgrace in one song.
It's wonderful to see the most beautiful people who keep on their traditional and i love them

how do they keep from killing eachother some tribes hate eachother
that was the old days. today, as one
Every since 1492 they have been beaten and almost wiped out. They had to band together to survive. And plus its a new century.
It a social event Jason, not like the books taught in schools- troll.

Warriors dance and I bet none of the dancers are veterans.
Dont need to be. Show some respect
