This guy should work for the company doing nothing but demo's... Fabulous demo and instruction on how to bring up sounds quickly... FUN STUFF!! Well done, my friend....
Just got my AX8 last night! (Fractal shipped it the day of and it was in ottawa in 3 days!) I haven't even used the AX8-Edit or anything, the presets are fantastic. Literally turned it on, found a patch i liked, a couple tweaks for personal preference (cranked mids, back off the treble bass and gain) and this thing blows all my gear out of the water...Anyone want to buy a 5150iii,orange cab and a bunch of boutique pedals?! The future is here. I've never had such note clarity come out through massive chords, I havent played with such a stupid grin plastered on my face since I first got a nice tube amp back when i was a wee one. I'm in heaven. The part where you put in the amp and cab and then play and go "it sounds pretty good already" had me smiling cause I felt the exact same. Effortless!
Mike Hendrycks keep the cab, trade the 5150 for a poweramp and get the best of both worlds for band practise and concerts! That's what I am doing with my Axe Fx.
Very enlightening, Mr. K., thanks. It is a wonderful time to be alive for musicians of all skill levels. I'm almost scared to imagine what things will look like in ten years. (almost!)
Downright scary how accurate these modeling amps are. As an engineer I've been listening to sound, acutely, for most of my adult life and pride myself on being able to find even the most tiny differences in audio. When put side by side with the original tube amp, the FAS AX8 sounds uncannily similar. The difference is so small that it is negligible.
I've used loads of multi fx and the learning curve is always a challenge. This was a great demo - simple with covertly advanced features hinted at. Thanks.
Great sounds and great playing! After fussing around with my pedalboard and a million cables for hours last night, I have myself seriously considering one of these guys.
Great job, everything was clear. I would like to see more videos of you makeing tones for the AX8. It's a great way to show how to acheive sounds whether you have one or not.
Cheers. I have a set tone in my head; if I can't coax it out of any given piece of gear without too much fuss, out the gear goes. That's my only rule of thumb.
Hi Brett! What a cool piece of gear man! Everything patch or preset,it all sounded amazing! Increasing my anxiety to get one as soon as possible. Take it easy, have a pleasant weekend! Don.
I've been watching a lot of AX8 clips lately. Every time I start looking at effects, either pedals or a rack, I find myself thinking that the money could go towards an AX8. It just seems to make even more sense, the more I research. I like my Engl pre and power amp set up but like the idea of more variety a lot more. Saving for the AX8.
Brett, I really love the sound of that jump plexi presets and all the effects sound killer, I would love to see you doing more AX8 videos, Sincerely; Josue (Josh) Cintron
Wheeewww that sounds outstanding. I've forgotten what good tone sounds like since I've moved into my apartment. Can't turn my amp up or the neighbors get angry, so I've just been using an old copy of POD Farm I've had since I was a kid. It's the only thing I can use quietly. It's not even in the same ballpark as the Fractal. It's like I'm playing in the dumpsters outside, and the Fractal is chilling in the VIP suites. Maybe I'll finally put my name down on that waiting list..
I've yet to find a better low volume/apartment solution than digital modeling. High quality digital modeling that is. My tubes amps & vintage tube stash are collecting dust.
Very nice video, great sounds from the AX8. I still love the AXE FXII which offers even more goodies. But for a gig on the fly AX8 does a great job. Well done with your great vid.
This video was very helpful. I just got my AX8 yesterday and I’ve yet to personalize anything like this with the edit software, as I’m blown away by the presets by themselves lol... but I will definitely be experimenting with it very soon!
Would be interesting to do a comparison between this and the Positive Grid Bias - including both the free-standing hardware version and the iOS or AU plugin version. Another great video demo Brett :)
Does the amp and cab have to be in the middle? I just got mine. I wanted to keep the stereo fx loop open, also I wanted non cab signal also, but I see 8:47 you can't really do that. I just connected it to my dual Two Notes Torpedo Cab M setup with my external reverbs to go to PA and stereo power amp and real cabs. I can turn off the amp or just fill in behind me if my in ears wireless has a problem. I am going to develop some banks with the AX8 cabs when I have more time to tweak them. I have found that there are no auto wahs or wild filter fx. I really liked your video of this unit. Always enjoy your content. Thanks Brett
I've never use Fractal product before, I have a better idea after watching your great video, also your tone is killing!!! ( My Ax8 is on the way to my home!!)
Hello from and old bushy west of Cairns, who loves his AX8, but would dearly love to get his hands onto some of your stupendous patches? for my AX8. Rob from Guitars and Things (great guy and guitar builder) recommended you and your incredible AX8 insights. Truly appreciated, J.H.
G'day John. You are welcome to download everything I archived before I moved my AX8 on (over three years ago). You'll find the lot at drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JGAGuzfB6x8DkVs81KupIXCtOxuE0lDo?usp=sharing Cheers.
Only issue I have is I cant bloody well get one! No Australian stock and no expected landing date from the importers (not their fault). I guess this is the price you have to pay when the thing is just so bloody good! Ah well, patience is supposed to be a virtue. Also, another awesome video Brett.
Hey Brett, interested in what you have to do, if anything, to your Fractal patches to get them right for gigging vs. studio. Does cranking up to stage volume mean much change to patches?
Great sounding preset. How is the unit creating a preset from scratch directly on the board? I am looking at upgrading my HD500 to a Helix or possibly the AX8 and the Helix looks to be amazingly simple there and may have a bit more DSP unless I go up to the AXE FX2. One thing the HD500 was a bit of a pain was creating presets on the unit and I did everything on the HDEdit program.
It's interesting (and telling if I was the suspicious type) that none of the dislikers, whom I have the utmost respect for, of course, have left a comment stating what their dislike is for.
this is exactly what I always say. This demo is as professional as it gets, if they dont like the sound, why dont they move on, are they so offended that the video requires a dislike?? There should be a mandatory comment entry if someone dislikes a video.
The cynic in me wonders whether Fractal Audio's rival's minions are playing funny buggers. I've noticed it's happening on my latest video that features the Fender Deluxe Strat and Fractal Axe-FX II, too. Spineless little people. If my suspicions are true, it doesn't reflect very well on those involved. But, of course, I could be wrong..! :D
bought Axe... returned it... it's ok, but every real amp sounds better. Tried axe direct to PA and into Mesa 2:100 power amp with 412 Mesa cab... real tube amps are better. axe is a good effects unit though
SixOfNine - Do you realize how many famous professionals are now using Fractal products on tour? If they're good enough for The Edge (who I just saw in concert and who sounded absolutely amazing, indistinguishable from his recordings), they're good enough for me.
Great sounds Brett. Just acquired the Ax8, I think it may be a steep learning curve for me, would these sounds translate to a live sound or would they need some tweaking to sound as good at higher volume? Where would one start?
Very cool! I have one of these on the way. After all your hard editing work, can you save your library of custom amps and scenes externally to a computer as a back up?
You mean just for the effects? That's what the 'FX8' is for - just the effects. No amp or cab sims. I have made a couple of demos with the FX8 and there will be more, yes.
Can you simply plug in headphones and achieve the same sound quality? And same thing for speakers instead of an amp? And does your recording for this video sound better than what your hearing from your amp at the time of recording?
How easy is it to adjust, for example you're playing in a room and you don't want as much reverb as normal. Can you globally edit presets to reduce the reverb mix. I've found I've dailled in great sounds at home, got to gig volume and they suck. How easy are stage side edits?
Generally all home presets need to be treated as loose guides to your stage satisfaction - at best. Room acoustics, the bass and drums, monitors - all will need to be dealt with 'on the night'. It's a risky thing to throw yourself into a gig situation with one of these machines without some sort of battle experience. You need to give yourself a few experiences of some sort - rehearsal, long sound check, etc - all at stage volume - to get things in a tight ballpark. Even then you're at the mercy of the monitor operator and the monitors themselves if you're using a direct to house configuration as I generally do. All of these things need to be considered for your comfort and confidence. But once you get there, you may never look back. I sure as hell am not looking back.
But to answer your question (sorry!): Yes, you can program any number of expression pedals or Scene parameters to control things like reverb mix, no problem.
Hi Brett. You are runnin' SPDIF out into your soundcard... What if my soundcard doesn't have SPDIF input? Can I use special SPDIF/XLR cable? Would that way my soundcard receive signal in stereo?
How are you getting that really bright and crisp sound? I'm using a Presonus 1818 VSL and Reaper, but I cannot get that live crisp sound. Everything sounds realy muddy.
Nice sounding! What is the case for your ax8. Looks like it is perfect for ax8 and expression pedal. Looks like lid pops off and ax8 and expression pedal stays mounted on base for live performance? IMHO, this is a must for a gig pedal board (minimizes setup time)
Burg's, I always appreciate how thorough you are in the descriptions of your signal chain, right down to your cameras and software. But I've always wondered what you're using for monitors to hear yourself in the room when playing with your ax8 or axe fx, please tell us?
Thanks very much, I give it my best shot. Since 2008 I've used only one set of monitors: Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1. It's a little system with a sub that I've placed against the wall about 6' away from me. That's the only system I've ever used... although I'm open to trying others, it just hasn't happened yet. I'm not sure the Blue Sky's are available anymore. They're very 'flat' sounding so reasonably true. I know that whatever sounds good through them (to me) will probably sound a whole lot better on your superior systems. If I'm voicing presets for stage, I use CLR Actives so I can do it LOUDLY, at least at 98dB or more. Cheers. :)
Hi Brett.....can you please tell me where you got your pedalboard/case? I didn't catch your comment in the video. I have been looking for one for the AX8 but most seem to shallow. Thanks a bunch.
If you haven't found it yet, its here: www.pedalboardsbycaseman.com.au/fractalaudio.html. He also has a link in the description as well but I didn't see that initially.
hey Brett, how realistic is this stuff, for example if you have 20 pedals in true bypass will it take out your top end like a real rig? Will a boss buffered bypass effect the sound even when it's in bypass (like a real rig)?
I don't compare, Brian. I use FAS gear because of its potential, not its ability to emulate. I don't care to spend hours trying to dial up a classic sound. I spent hours with 'classic' gear... no, days, months... trying to get 'it' to give me the sound in my head. I can do that now with Axe-FX technology. The sound in my head doesn't have a brand name or a year or a certain speaker... It's a combination of all those things as well as my own aural 'vision'. I can do all of that with this stuff. I don't look backwards, or even sidewards most of the time: I look forward.
+Brett Kingman thanks, I was just wondering. it certainly sounds good and the possibilities are truly enough for a gigging or recording musician to be thankful for.
This guy should work for the company doing nothing but demo's... Fabulous demo and instruction on how to bring up sounds quickly... FUN STUFF!! Well done, my friend....
The AX8 is such a beast
I ALWAYS come back to this video.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMM BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
I LOVE the patch you created.
I don't need to watch or listen to any more MFX reviews. This is the real McCoy of "all in one" units. Thankyou very much Mr. Kingman!
When I hear this old clip Brett, it doesn’t inspire me to buy the FM3. You always manage to tweak these things to Sound phenomenal.
One of the best AX8 demo videos I have seen so far. Thanks Brett! I am sold!!

rstlesswarrior why not practice with some decent wedges or full frequency PAs/powered speakers? Aren't you gonna go to FOH at a concert?
I sold the amp and cab and bought a small Yamaha speaker.
I just had my AXE FX ship today. Looking forward to it. How are you liking it after using it for some time now?
Mike Hendrycks
Brett,
Have been waiting for your AX8 videos, and as usual you didn't disappoint!
Please keep them coming!
Very enlightening, Mr. K., thanks. It is a wonderful time to be alive for musicians of all skill levels. I'm almost scared to imagine what things will look like in ten years. (almost!)
So much raw power at a touch of a button. The kids will never know the struggle.
Downright scary how accurate these modeling amps are. Great sounds and great playing! After fussing around with my pedalboard and a million cables for hours last night, I have myself seriously considering one of these guys.
Just love how you put this preset together. Very cool, straightforward and relatively simple.
Great demo of the AX8 and some ferocious licks as well!
The best 14 minutes on RUclips. Cheers mate!
sounds like amp modelling has really arrived...I think any guitar player would be satisfied with the sounds that can be had...great demo
Many thanks for this Brett. My AX8 arrives tomorrow. I look forward to getting these tones. Cheers
The most useful video on AX8. Many thanks!
Great job, everything was clear. I would like to see more videos of you makeing tones for the AX8. It's a great way to show how to acheive sounds whether you have one or not.
Hello past me - this is future me.
I now have my ax8, it sounds mind blowing! unbelievably good.
Great video as always! On the waiting list for the AX8, can not wait!!! Cheers from Canberra!
Amp model sounds amazing! Great playing too.
You're really, really good at coming up with tones. A+
Cheers. I have a set tone in my head; if I can't coax it out of any given piece of gear without too much fuss, out the gear goes. That's my only rule of thumb.
Man your always able to make these things sound so good! I want one of these just because of this video.
Always enjoy your demo's mate, keep up the good work..
Hi Brett! What a cool piece of gear man! Everything patch or preset,it all sounded amazing! Increasing my anxiety to get one as soon as possible. Take it easy, have a pleasant weekend! Don.
Cheers, Don. I hope your weekend is great too.
Thank you very much man, keep the vids coming along. Peace.
Excellent demo of this unit. I am going to use this video to help me create my own sounds. Awesome and THANK YOU!
Always love your videos and your playing Brett...Once again thx for sharing! Killer unit.

25 people don’t know “TONE.”
Keep up the great work Bret!
Great video, Sir! Watched 4 times. It's pretty much the reason I have an AX8 on the way.
This... sounds.... awesome! Wow- time to go copy everything you just did on my own AX8. Inspirations!
Great video Brett! Very intuitive and you seem to be having heaps of fun :-)
man.....that thing is awesome.....hmmm - nice demo Brett!
Brett, I really love the sound of that jump plexi presets and all the effects sound killer, I would love to see you doing more AX8 videos, Sincerely; Josue (Josh) Cintron

I have heard some of Line 6 products but this is the best ever! It really sounds like a real tube amp!
This video was very helpful. I just got my AX8 yesterday and I’ve yet to personalize anything like this with the edit software, as I’m blown away by the presets by themselves lol... but I will definitely be experimenting with it very soon!
Great video Brett, really making want one of these!
You are absolutely brilliant! :-) I followed your steps and it just sounds GREAT!! Thanx, mr Kingman! :-)
Great sound Brett!!
Thanks Brett! I love your videos. I’ve been inspired to create some Frampton Comes Alive tones and this will video will help immensely.
I really want to try the FX8 since i already have the amp and cab combo thatI like.
Fantastic demo!
This was a lot of fun! Build moar!!!
Very nice, straight forward quick start guide. Thank you!
Great demo Brett, I'm on the the fence of picking one up, getting closer :-)
Wow, amazing. Would love to see you do a similar video with a Bass running through this.
Great idea. I'm on it.
Sweet. Thanks a lot.
Sounds phenomenal!
Damn!! Brett!! That's Killer! Tone!!
Great video, nice instruct. Cab you tell me where I can find the other video's you were speaking of.
Great demo, man! Thanks so much!
Would be interesting to do a comparison between this and the Positive Grid Bias - including both the free-standing hardware version and the iOS or AU plugin version. Another great video demo Brett :)

Very informative. Thanks for the demo
Really helpful tutorial Brett thanks!
I own AX8 with crybaby wah same like the one ur using . I was wondering what size flightcase u are using in the video for AX8.
thanks
What a great sound!
So how many AX8s did this video just sell? Fractal needs to put you on their payrol for this excellent video. Great Job Brett!
Good stuff Brett!
Cheers, Scott. I hope all is well for you!

Holy crap, that thing is amazing
Thanks for the reply Brett. Great demo before on the Kinman P90s , do they make humbuckers for a Ibanez? If so I could go shopping...
Is the patch available on the Axechange site?
Greta video Brett! Thank you for the walk through. That's a nice case. May I know where did you get that from?
Very well done...!!!
Go ahead.
Hey Brett, interested in what you have to do, if anything, to your Fractal patches to get them right for gigging vs. studio. Does cranking up to stage volume mean much change to patches?

What would you recommend for a live sound for "cabinets." I trust your ear. Thanks, Jamie
Superb ! Would be great so hear som Clean-light crunch sounds with this Fender, or a Tele :)
thanks
What kind of speakers do you use ? Sounds great
great stuff. How was this recorded please?
great demonstration.
Hey man! I enjoyed your video. I wish a could know about your fender pickups. Thx!
The cynic in me wonders whether Fractal Audio's rival's minions are playing funny buggers. bought Axe... returned it... it's ok, but every real amp sounds better. Tried axe direct to PA and into Mesa 2:100 power amp with 412 Mesa cab... real tube amps are better. axe is a good effects unit though
One of my students just bought an AX8 and asked me to help dial it in. I sent him straight here!

Wow, can't say I can tell the difference from the real thing anymore!
quick question, does the Axe 8 have tone match ? or is that just on the Axe-Fx? thank you!
Which model of mission controller that u apply buddy?
Very cool! I have one of these on the way. After all your hard editing work, can you save your library of custom amps and scenes externally to a computer as a back up?
also Brett, will you do a demo where you plug it into your Rolla spec Plex amp and use the ax8 eq, modulation, time, and drive pedal simulators?
You mean just for the effects? That's what the 'FX8' is for - just the effects. No amp or cab sims. I have made a couple of demos with the FX8 and there will be more, yes.
+Brett Kingman OK, I'm confused, I will have to look it up. More videos sounds great, thanks Brett.
