    INGREDIENTS:
    ▪1.5lbs shrimp (51/60 shrimp)
    ▪3c (250g) cabbage, shredded
    ▪1.5c (1 medium) carrot, shredded
    ▪1 jalapeno, julienned
▪Handful of cilantro (⅓ of a bunch), chopped
    ▪Salt
    ▪1T + 1t (75g) honey or agave syrup
    ▪2 limes
    ▪2 ripe avocados
    ▪2 garlic cloves
    ▪Pinch of chile flake
    ▪1/2c (110g) mayonnaise
    ▪1 1/2T (25g) sriracha
    ▪Olive oil
    ▪1/2t (2g) paprika
    ▪1/2t (2g) chili powder
    ▪1/2t (2g) cumin
    ▪1/2t (1g) chile flakes
▪1/2t (2g) onion powder for guac, 1/2t (2g) for shrimp seasoning
    ▪1/2t (3g) garlic powder
    ▪6 Flour tortillas
    INSTRUCTIONS:
Thaw shrimp in advance in the fridge or for 5 minutes under cold water.
Shred cabbage and julienne carrot and jalapeno. Combine shredded cabbage and julienned carrots and jalapeno in a bowl. Add a strong pinch of salt (don’t be shy). Add honey/agave and lime juice. Stir and taste for seasoning.
Remove shrimp from water and allow to drain while you prep the rest of the ingredients.
To make the weekday quac (avocado mash), Squeeze the flesh of 2 avocados into a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and juice of ½ a lime and 1 minced/pressed garlic clove, onion powder, and chile flake. Mash with a fork to combine.
Add mayo, sriracha, about 2tsp lime juice and 1 clove minced garlic. Stir to combine.
Heat tortillas in a dry non-stick pan until warmed through and floppy. Keep warm in a tortilla warmer until ready to use.
Add shrimp to a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil, tsp of salt, and about a 1/2t each of paprika, chili powder, cumin, chile flakes, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix to coat shrimp evenly.
Add oil to preheated nonstick pan over medium heat. Add shrimp (it should sizzle when it hits the pan). Spread shrimp into an even layer and allow to cook on side one for just about minute. Toss, spread into an even layer and continue to cook for about another minute or until shrimp have just turned opaque.
To assemble, add a spoonful of the weekday guac to a warmed tortilla followed by shrimp, slaw, and finally the spicy garlic mayo.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur here, but as someone who grew up watching Food Network, I really loved this format. I've started to detest the TikTok and RUclips short recipes of people plopping down food on a cutting board and dizzily assembling ingredients in a blur all before only slowing down to perform the obligatory "knife drag to show how crunchy my food is!" maneuver.
Anyway, this calm, slower format is really what I love. Reminds me of things like Emeril Live, just having the chef show you in real-time how it's done while explaining their reasoning for things. It's really relaxing and informative. I hope to see more like this, thanks Bri.
This concludes the "old man screams at cloud" portion of the comment section.

Dude... Fellow cloud screamer here.... I never got the "knife drag". Emeril is legend. I love Guy Fieri, but Justin Wilson was THE MAN that started it. Kent Rollins is carrying the torch. Brian is the modern culmination of all these dudes. Love his content. The fact he's local to me and the chances I might run into him in a market gives extra points. Rock on brothers. Y'all be safe, and cook on!!!!

I don't like the new format. I used to watch a lot of Joshua Weisman's channel. But then he started doing more and more what I like to call "TV show" cooking. It's a format where it's more focused around the content being "entertaining" then actually showing you how to cook. The worst re-occurring style that he does is called "But Faster." He has one of his crew get in their car and drive to some fast food place to pick food. And then he has to cook the same food before they get back. I absolutely hate it. Why? Two reasons. First off, he'll gloss over what he's doing during crucial parts. And he'll say "the recipe is in the description." He does this because he's focused on "winning". The second reason I hate his "But Better" format, is that it's stressful to watch. There is a palpable sense of tension, as he tries to "beat the clock." I don't want the cooking show I'm watching to be stressful. It makes me stressful, and makes me far less inclined to want to make the food.
You produce amazing content Bri. There is a reason I get 95% of all my recipes from you. You are simply the best. No one does a better job of explaining the techniques and tricky parts of recipes. No one. And you put the time and effort into making your recipes right, through trial and error. Please don't do this format again. I appreciate that you are trying something new. And the fact that you had to record this 3 separate times. But it's stressful to watch. I hate to say this, but this sort of content will probably grow your channel. It definitely seemed to help Joshua Weisman. But it's not good for people that actually want to make your recipes. No matter how many takes you do, there is always going to be some stress from these types of videos. It's not you. It's the format.

This video is AWESOME, seriously, I would watch an entire channel of nothing but this format. You guys saved my quick week night dinner tonight from being boring 🙌 I loved that you used ingredients we are already likely to have in the fridge/freezer. I don’t even have to go to the store! Thanks!

I especially liked the extra hints and tips that found their way into this format, even the unspoken things like cleaning as you go and loved Lauras input with pertinent questions. This style made the recipe feel really doable. I like your usual style too - looking forward to seeing more of both!

Yeaaaaah, this formats a HUGE winner for me. I love how you actually show us that it can be done in under 25 minutes, especially some tricks to get the prep time down. I know my prep time takes at least 70% of the effort and time needed to make something, especially when i want something NOW.
Ive made quite a few recipes of yours now and i havent had one complaint for any of them! Love your work and keep them coming!!
