  • HOW TO START THE CURLY GIRL METHOD IN INDIA | How to Start the Curly Girl Method for Wavy Hair
    In this video, I have tried to give you my best advice and tips on how to start the curly girl method if you're living in India. I've been on CGM for a while now. I was thinking to myself, if I had to watch one video, my first ever video on CGM, what would I have wanted to hear? What did I wish someone had told me? What would have made things simpler for me?
    What are the most crucial bits of information and advice I needed to have before starting? What CGM tips did I need in order to prepare myself before starting my curly hair journey? What are some of the characteristic cgm-esque feelings that nobody talks about? How could I mentally prepare myself for what was to come? How is my hair going to feel when I start CGM. What should I be prepared for before taking the plunge into my curly hair journey? This video is my best attempt at summing it all up in a way that is palatable.
    I've tried to divide the video into chapters. It's a long video. I've tried to cut and clip it as much as possible, which is why some bits look AWKWARD! Anywhizzle, watch it at 1.25 speed or just consume bits and pieces of it. Allow the chapters to sink in before moving onto the next.

    Hello from Idaho, USA. 🙂 I started my transition 4 days ago, but I've been learning, researching and preparing for weeks. I was so happy when I found you on RUclips. Your content is so valuable and your curly long hair reminds me of my own and keeps me motivated to stick with it!
    On a side note, I visited India about 4 years ago, and loved my time there! So I was excited when I saw that is where you are located.
    I hope we can be curly girl friends! 🙂 Thanks again for all your amazing curly girl content! ❤

      @@MichelleManuel Can we use hair butter instead of live in conditioners?

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад +1

      Ok so let's understand,
      What does a butter do?
      It seals the hair and protects against moisture loss.
      But does it go into the hair cuticle and nourish it from within? No!
      What does a leave in conditioner do?
      It gives your hair moisture, it gives you hair protein. All of this is able to penetrate the hair cuticle. Why? Because it is formulated in a cosmetic lab by a chemist/product formulator who is able a create a formula in which ingredients are of the right molecular size and weight to be able to penetrate the hair shaft.
      Do can a butter substitute a leave in conditioner? No. It can aid in locking in moisture but it does not give moisture by itself.
      If you want to understand this fully, have a look at my protein moisture playlist.

    I was randomly searching on RUclips about the haircare routine for my hair which I knew was dry frizzy hair before your thumbnail picture drew my attention that my hair category falls in Wavy hair 😅 . Ok, I have 2B type hair now I got to know..... I really liked the way how you explained the CGM for Indian beginners. I really want to start but just afraid if I would be able to do justice with cgm or not as I'm a mom of a 1.5 year old toddler... 😛😛😛

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 года назад +2

      Thank you so much. A cgm routine does take a fair bit of time.
      But you can do a simple rake and scrunch and do leave in + mousse. You'll be able to be done with your routine very quickly. It will take maybe 10 mins extra compared to your normal wash day. I think you could try it once and see if it works for you. But I also understand the time struggles for a new mum. Sending you the best. ❤️

    Hi Michelle. Is it okay that I condition my hair lightly before I wash in order to remove product buildup? This is what I had learned in the past few years. I still condition again after washing. All I use is a leave-in curl styling cream as well as a deep penetrating coconut oil serum mostly for extra hydration and frizz but mostly just toward the ends of my hair. I'll admit however that I do reach for a touch of dry shampoo after 3 days just to refresh underneath my hair only a little on my scalp area, in order to eliminate odors and oils. I only get oily at my roots, but the rest is extremely dry. My hair doesn't retain moisture at all. None of the shampoo, conditioner or styling cream contains any of the bad stuff though.
    If you could suggest a better method for oily roots and odor eliminating/refreshing, as that would be great. ❤ I live in a very hot and humid climate at least 9 months out of the year in Texas, USA.
    Thank you so much for your content.😊

    Hey! It's my 7th month into CG journey, in the beginning I used to wash my hair once a week, and it felt alright, my hair felt free from dirt after washing, but now I can't stretch it for more than 5 days, I mean my hair gets super dirty by 5th day and I have to wash it. Would it hamper my hair? Also earlier in the beginning I didn't use to apply the shampoo to the length of my hair, but now if I don't do it, my hair feels greasy after washing it.

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 года назад +1

      I think you need to clarify your hair asap. You might have build up.
      Please do an acv rinse and also do a clarifying wash. You'll find clarifying shampoos on my amazon storefront. I think maybe you have scalp and length buildup.
      Maybe it's also time to cut back on the amount of oil/butter you're using. Do a one week detox and see how your hair feels.
