  • I needed to change the crystal in my Seiko 7549-7010, so here's how I do it.
Since the crystal needed to be swapped, I did a complete case rebuild (minus crown since that's good) start to finish. Things to look for, how I use silicon grease on cases, tips, all that.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, namely, none. No script, no planning, no real editing, nothing. Same for the sound - I forgot my microphone so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

I have a 4R35 tuna which has a fair bit o' modding with a barbed wire engraving on the shroud, I fitted a full wheel Namoki gold rotor and has sapphire fore and aft. Waiting to fit a genny set of neon green fishbone hands (very pricey but will look so cool) and a Geckota jubilee bracelet makes it a lot o' presence on the ol' wrist. Do have another cheap and I mean £9 cheap Foxbox tuna from Aliexpress which came on a surprisingly good solid link bracelet and the shroud fits perfectly on my 4R35 if I want to tone it down a bit hehe

As far as keeping corosion at bay, I know you're car guy as well. Have you heard of Fluid Film? It creates a barrier with meatl parts to keep oxygen away form the surfaces, thus, keeping oxidation at bay. I though a little on swab and wiped over the surface might help some.

I wonder if a small dab of Loctite blue on the shroud screw threads would ensure they do not accidentally back out over time.

Can to install flat sapphire crystal from SBBN045 in SBBN007 Tuna?
If yes - how much can cost original Seiko SBBN045 crystal?

Shouldn't there be a clock inside the case? Ah later...:)
