Nice vid. Top tip when cutting bolts down is to wind a nut onto the thread, cut the bold then take the nut off. This helps to keep the thread true.👍

Those footpegs are well worth the outlay, I reckon. Loved your philosophy: "If they're working don't bugger around with 'em".
Man, I wish we had more proving grounds like that over here (Hampshire UK). You don't know how lucky you are mate!
    Safe roads.

tip: put a nut on the screw before you saw the screw. cause its easy to thread the nut of the sawed screw. easier as the other way around. hope you understand what i mean ;) english isn`t my mothertongue.

    Hello! Thanks for your videos.
I put those Procycle foot pegs a few years ago on my DR. At the time there were not many options available : lowering plates, which I didn't want because of the ground clearance issue, or the Procycle pegs (they were not that expensive).
Those pegs do what they are made for. However after so many years of use off-road, I would rather choose pegs that are not so low; 1-cm higher would be nice, I reckon. The reason is that with those pegs my boots hit the ground more than necessary off-road.
As regards the gear shifter, I initially lowered mine but quickly understood that it wasn't the right thing to do as it hit too many things off-road.

hey the best way to cut bolts is to put a nut on first then cut the bolt, this helps after you file the bolt, it makes sure the nut comes on/off better.

  • @mtscott

Good video…I’m about to do the same myself.
As an engineer….I might advise not to hit spanners with the hammer. Knackers the spanners and it can knacker the bolt head. Apply some penetrating oil, leave, use a socket with an extension bar. Also put some copper grease where your bolts go through the pegs, will stop corrosion.

Nice work mate. That was the first mod I did to mine. Worth the money I reckon. I didn't like the idea of having those adaptor brackets hanging down below the frame. The wider, beefier pegs on the Procycle's are heaps better too.

Hi Mark and thanks for the videos. I'm watching this now as I'm doing the same footpegs for my DR, I was wondering if you ever had to adjust the shifter and the brake pedal and how that worked? Keep up the good work, I've subscribed.

ps when u cut a bolt make sure u thread the nut on past your cut so once you've cut the bolt , the nut will help retap the thread

Vince now sells these for A$328, but they’re A$199 if you buy them from Procycle. There’s no way the shipping is A$130. I know everyone’s got to make money, but there seems to be a serious markup in Australia.

Way late with this comment, but have to say that price is ridiculously high. Someone is ripping someone off, whether it's the manufacturer or retailer, or both, it is not ethical.
Another thing, for $299 I would expect the correct length screws, or at least some washers/spacers.

I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely stoled the way you mount your spotlights on the dr650. I flat out stole the idea, I'm ashamed. Don't be mad at Texas, it was cheap and easy and I appreciate seeing you mount your spotlights on your Dr in the video. Now I bought different spotlights, but the mounts are just like yours and hold the lights in the similar fashion. The lights are up high and super bright. I've mounted my spotlights on my other 650s up high, the lights illuminate better, but on the XR and the KLR they mount in a different spot. All of my bikes have bark busters. The KLR, the windshield is in the way. On the Honda XR, I mounted the spotlights to the turn signal bracket... beautiful! I stole that saying as well.
    Thanks Mark for the idea.
"Texas" on the prairie, the big copycat
This should be far enough into the text for me to ask you a personal question. Nobody is reading this far but you. I've noticed that you and Matt place your wedding bands on your right hand. I am overwhelmed with curiosity. I adopted my daughter from Russia and they wear their wedding bands on the right hand, orthodox, unlike us Protestants in America that wear our wedding bands on the left hand. Us Protestants in America, when our spouse passes away, we move the wedding band to our right hand to show that we are widowed. Unfortunately that is my situation. Your life is none of my business, but I was curious... Like a cat, maybe even a Texas cat. Stupid Americans!

I watch you and a lady from Perth. I know you're in opposite directions of one another, I just love watching you guys ride. Strangely it reminds me of the central part of Texas. Beautiful with a capital B. You and I live in two of the prettiest countries on the planet. I love that you guys are proud of your country. Australia is an awesome country. My dad was stationed there during world war II. You guys trained him how to fight in world war II. I thank your country for training him or I wouldn't be here. Respect

$299 for foot pegs.....Jesus. I’ve never found a cheap hobby. Scuba Diving, Salt Water Aquarium, Motorcycles......any mods, upgrades and repairs are expensive! Just purchased a used DR. I’m already at $1400.00 in upgrades and there’s more to go! Maybe I’ll take up knitting.....yawn can’t cost much, ay? But there no excitement in damn knitting.

get your self a johnson bar and a brass hammer and a drift, like your video but the way you use tools sends shivers up my spine. Claw hammers are not for hitting wrenches. get a ball peen hammer for hitting the drift to push your bolts through, and johnosn bar for breaking the nuts loos or if you must hammer get a bras hammer please. Tools are for doing a job not to be abused. The wright tool for the job, goes a long way.
