I’ve got a few (in no particular order):
    - It’s established the wife suspected him of being the Butcher and she was the one that left the receipt for the concert at one of his planning houses so the cops could trap him.
WHY DOESNT SHE JUST CALL THE COPS ANONYMOUSLY AND HAVE THEM PICK HIM UP FOR QUESTIONING???) Instead she puts her daughter and 30,000 people in danger at a concert
    - minor one, but still wtf..Cooper comes back to house to confront wife and for no reason at all just takes his shirt off and sits there lol
    - Lady Raven is in the car with Cooper (in his garage) and she tries to get in his head by yelling at him, pretending to be Cooper’s mother who abused him. We know that the mother abused him, how does she know? The FBI profiler sat down and reviewed the case with the star of the concert?? 😅
    There’s probably 100
    more

If not then it would at least show the date and time he purchased the tickets assuming it was in person since he has a paper receipt and they would just go access the security footage and see who purchased tickets at that exact time? My favourite is his escape from the car near the end. Lady Gaga... er Raven has managed somehow to break the bit she was handcuffed to and get out. The car is completely surrounded, several deep, by her fans crowded right up against it. Then the police arrive and there are so many fans that they have to move them away. Then they shoot through the window at the driver. But it isn't the driver. It's just a helmet propped up on the driver's seat. Somehow Cooper has managed to change clothes, set up a dummy and get out of the car and walk away without a single person noticing him do it - not the fans who surrounded the car, not the police who surrounded the car, NO-ONE.

    • @jasonk9580
      @jasonk9580 2 месяца назад +8

It was one of the 4-5 random possibilities that the police had from security cameras at various scenes. The 60 year old African American, 20 year old Asian, 40 year old white guy with bird tattoo. I mean that itself is ridiculous and they provide no explanation for why there were so many different type of suspects. On top of that, his tattoo is like 1 inch by 1 inch so HTF did a security camera pick that up? AND on top of that, lol, he covers it with one of the concert wristbands as if the cops would never think to look under it.
The amusing thing is that as I was watching it and trying to guess the twist, i came up with a bunch of theories/guesses that would have been much better (honestly they couldn't be worse than the actual plot:
Theory 1) There was more than 1 butcher (1 for each kill, which would explain all the wildly different profiles) and they were all going to be at the concert for some final showdown against each other
Theory 2) Someone was poisoning the concert goers, there were 2 separate girls who got sick, 1 that he pushed down the stairs and the other that he helped backstage
Theory 3) Lady Raven was the head of some serial killer sect/cult and she had arranged for all the butchers to be at the concert and that's why she went with him to the house and wasn't afraid and she would reveal that he was the winner or gained membership to this secret society to him. That would be the only reason for all the dumb decisions

Like for an example, sneak into Raven's dressing room sabotage her inhaler and when she needs to use it, it doesn't work and she would have an asthma attack on stage and pass out which would possible cause mass panic and hysterical and allow him to sip away in the confusion. Similar to the scene where he thought about pulling the fire alarm but change his mind.

Oh man you didn't even get to the best 1. Damn this gonna be long. From the start of the movie I was waiting for 1 answer How Did The Police Know He Was At The Concert. We only got the full answer at the end of the movie. The wife suspected him of being The Butcher and followed him. He went To his safe house a place to be alone, plan and think on his crimes but was still just an empty house. Wife found nothing so then left an article of his clothing which had a receipt for the concert tickets that how they know where he was going and that it was a man. Than the wife called the police and told them the house was being used by The Butcher and the police just believed her and that's how we got the sting operation?????? WHAT????? Perfect end to the movie

So I watched this movie Friday.
I agree with every point you've made.
All I can say is that immediately after watching the movie all I could think was, that there were that many rewrites during production to change the direction of the movie, that the final cut inevitably left too many loose end unanswered unfinished questions.
I'm with you on this one, I think in the original draft the lead investigator woman was there to purposely feed josh information and lead him like a rat through a trap.
Other mind boggling cuts seem to be the utilisation of discovering lady raven uses an inhaler. And many many more.
Oh and can someone explain why josh took his top off towards the end of the movie?? Was it just a case of 'hey....why not...lets see josh tazerd while hes bare chested'??
Shyamalan's next biggest twist is that he actually makes a decent movie.

You’re totally right, Trap has a preposterous concept. That’s your tip off right there as to what M Night is doing with his movie. There are a million improbabilities, tongue in cheek dialogue, over the top performances, and a hilarious tone throughout. Why are you people taking this film SERIOUSLY?! M Night says it’s intended to be a funny, playful film in the serial killer thriller genre.
Hartnett says Night thought some of the scenes hilarious as he shot them. And that playing a monster that the audience incredibly roots for was a huge challenge walking a line between drama and comedy.
My favorite scene comes near the end. Oh my dear now I’m going to have to kill you and then myself, you know, the average way. And I am sooo angry with you because now I can’t watch my kids grow up. Rachel: well, before you chop me up into pieces, let’s sit down and have a piece of pie, for old times sake. So Cooper lays down the cleaver and takes off his shirt. Can’t get blood all over it, you know. Then the swing for the bleachers King Kong impression (Hartnett is f***ing brilliant here) where he lurches and lunges towards the mommy hallucination, wild-eyed and emotional, gouging out a SWAT guy’s eyes after being tased 4,382 times. I mean, COME ON, folks, this is a FUN movie.
I will agree with some tho that Saleka is miscast for the speaking part. While she’s great giving a Swiftie-esque concert, she should never have been given a significant role offstage. I don’t know how else Night could have written the character but thankfully her cringeworthy performance is overcome by Hartnett and Pill giving terrific ones.
If you guys watch the movie with a different perspective, I think you’ll see this is def one of Night’s best. He TOLD us it was going to be different and that there’d be NO twist. But a lot of people came into the movie with tired and stale expectations and so are disappointed that it’s not meeting them.
Let’s count YOUR stupids in this video.
    1. There are 12 victims in 7 years and Cooper is IN the stall. He’s getting his butcher kicks watching #13. Obsessive.
    2. Security? What a nit pick. There are f***ing SWAT teams all around her. Her manager tells them the guys okay bcuz his daughter had leukemia and they want to treat them.
    3. The Tunnel is part of the joke! The entrance is blocked by canned goods on the shelves. He also has his bag stashed in a hidden cubby hole in the garage. And Cooper is in a SWAT uniform when he tells the driver that he’ll take it from here.
    4. The movie does not end with Cooper freeing himself in the van. Did you watch the credits? Jamie makes a hilarious appearance. And when did you ever see a police van equipped with cameras INSIDE? The guards letting Cooper lovingly pick up his little boy’s bike is another hysterical improbability in the movie. If you’ve been taking the movie seriously, you’ll have missed the comic aspect of this.
(PS Night says he deleted scenes to fit the 2-hour limit. I’m assuming the inhaler bit was one that followed. Again, this nit pick didn’t bother me at all.)
    5. Jamie’s role 😂 Everything you point out is an improbability that builds the comedy. “I can tell you’re a father that has family values.” 😆 Oh, you’re a firefighter, you’re on our side. Cooper hands back the box tool: “Here, we wouldn’t want you to cut yourself.” 😆 Jamie is a bumbling serial killer junkie, tickled to tell this charming stranger all about the sting. His whole riff is hilarious.
    6. Dr Grant has told the cops the Unsub knows he’s trapped but will not panic. He’ll cause distractions. Push the girl down the stairs, blow up the fryer, contemplate pulling the fire alarm until he hears Grant mention the fire alarm option. About the surveillance cameras. We know there are 20,000 people in the arena, 3,000 of them men. What the profiler knows: he’s a man. Maybe white maybe black maybe old maybe middle aged with some sort of animal tattoo on him. So what will the cameras show? 🤦‍♀️
    7. Cooper has mommy issues. We see this when he’s washing his hands. (OCD flag) We see the hallucination a couple more times. Lady Raven explains his psychopathy to his family sitting around the table of snacks and we also know he has OCD. (He straightens the towel, he tries to adjust the tennis racquet, he folds his shirt neatly on the table (so it won’t get blood on it). Near the end he hallucinates Dr Grant as mommy, precipitating his downfall.
    8. Cooper holds Lady Raven emotionally hostage by threatening to kill Spencer if she calls out. (Another brilliant bit of acting by Hartnett, “ Catch me. Kill him. Catch me, kill him. With that outrageous smile 😅) We know from her stage speech that she is a bleeding heart. She’s not going to risk his life.
    9. The conceit is that the psychopath has a soft side he’s struggling with. We have to buy in to his split personality. He tells Riley not to let people fool her ( this from the biggest con artist in town). He is protective and affectionate with Riley. In one scene he calls out to Logan to finish the science project and to Rachel not to let the water heater guy rip her off. In the car he muses, I meant to keep both lenses separate, not to ever let them touch. The butcher is cracking. People are not whole, they’re in pieces. So we see the story pivot. Just like Cooper. The killer thriller part splits into the psychologically tender part. And swings back again. Fool me twice…😂
    10. Everything you take as preposterous is INTENTIONAL. How did you not “get it”? Imagine the absurdity, hunting for a serial killer treating his oblivious daughter to a pop concert! Ludicrous! Hilarious!
10.5. Your voice is 😬 Take it down a notch. Or are we supposed to see the outrage as a preposterous put on….

And you know this because the dad excuses himself multiple of times while his daughter stays to watch. And the concert is visibly packed. So I suspect that the raven going to the house was part of a premise like The Game. It would be a second act where cooper believes he’s gotten away and that this raven girl is clueless to everything basically delivering him home and even performing for his daughter. Think about the entire movie playing out without the scene where cooper shows raven the kid on his phone. This would have made it a twist but M Night wanted his daughter to be seen as braver to the audience with no gap in their thinking, even if that nativity was part of a twist. Nepotism and its impacts on directorial decisions and m nights clear biases, ruined this movie.

Things I noticed that struck me:
    - He demands Lady Raven drive him in her limo. Let's make an abstraction of the fact that he just GUESSED she had a limo to leave. they make a really big point of showing her getting into the arena, and getting off her tour bus. Why would she have a limo to leave? What happened to the tour bus, they're just gone?
    - She just spent 2-3 hours on her feet on a stage singing and dancing. There's NO way her "after-show casual outfit" would be pointed-toe stilettos, that's insane.
    - She mentions at some point that there was a show planned tonight but they added a 2nd show to trap him, a matinée. Yet, she never came back to the arena to do the show, it seems like that line could have been ADRed and they didn't plan it, right? She clearly hangs at his house once he gets arrested late into the night.
    - Cooper shoved huge glass jugs of oil in the oil tank for the fries which then exploded in a worker's face who just had to shove her face in it (the heat emanating from the vat should have prevented her from standing so close to it.). We briefly saw her face burn but there were no shards of glass anywhere, it magically blew up but none went into her face. I guess they didn't have the makeup SFX budget for it?
    - There's ZERO chance the dude went to such a huge concert in this big of an arena and BY COINCIDENCE ran into, not only someone he knows but into her TWICE!? Absolutely. insane.
    - He left his coat jacket on the restaurant stand to put on the apron. went on the roof. chatted with a security guard. went back down. all while there's a panic going on from a burn victim and incredible security and yet nobody either stole his jacket or thought it was weird and picked it up? It's not believable one bit.
    - I don't buy for a second that a city has THIS MANY security team members, especially security team members to spare on catching ONE guy. No matter how much he killed. That operation would have cost in the 7 figures, that's insane.
    - Tell me when's the last time you went to a pop concert that had not one but TWO intermissions, wtf. This isn't a play, dude.
    - He listens to his hostage screaming on his phone in a bathroom FULL of people with no headphones. That's...euhm...
Cooper is taking off his shirt at the end for no reason. Thanks for the gratuitous nudity, M. Night. He said: have fun girls and gays, throwing you a freebie.
    - The traffic in the arena is absolute madness. Actively, during the concert, there are just people chilling hanging out IN MASSES, AT ALL TIMES. In what world? Has M. Night ever been to a concert? WTF.
    - Shoutout at the interview they showed before the movie where he said "we spent months planning the concert scenes to make them realistic" but yet they couldn't figure out how to make Lady Raven MOVE on the stage, she pretty much stays center stage the entire movie. Very realistic (not)

I ask because the ticket stub left at the house would have the seat numbers on it. If it was general admission, which it looks like from the fact that there are folding chairs on the main floor, why are people sitting where they’re sitting when there are empty chairs closer to the stage. People are casually walking to their seats, suggesting they were assigned seats. But it appears the story just ignores this.

The interior is a much smaller venue in another city. The issue I have stems from being familiar with the one they used for the exterior. It's much bigger. Infact for a concert they can get around 55,000 in there. The one they used for the interior holds about 19,000. So in the movie when they're inside. I can't help but think "this place feels way too small".

Ok. The Last Airbender was nauseatingly bad, but I gotta totally find an escape from your rant about Trap!
What if there was a movie where you were ranting in a theatre but security was looking for you while Trap was playing on every screen. LOL Its either nightmare fuel or fever dream.
I love TrapI. Its a new IP with a 90s throw back dark comedy thriller musical vibe. It's as fun as watching your rants.

    1. The concert employee goes from having a brief conversation with Cooper to thinking it is appropriate to show him a picture of someone's mutilated corpse/remains (the fact that he just keeps that image on his phone and he has a friend who would take that picture and share it is just wrong on so many levels).
    2. The concert employee doesn't realize that Cooper is the killer until after he finisheed his shift for the day. This mean that he never realized his keycard was misplaced/stolen or he did and his superior/colleague was like "Naw, it's fine. We'll figure it out tomorrow ... Hopefully they catch that sadistic serial killer that caused up to beef up our security".

    M. Night Shamashite. You forgot to mention how the FBI profiler said if a fire alarm goes off in an auditorium that seats 20,000 people, don’t let any men leave. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good luck with that, genius.

If you only take the profiler line of 'some guy is going to try to escape', whenever any man shows up in a place he shouldn't (the roof, the swat huddle room, the stock room, etc) he should have been detained, immediately.

Well, something that stood out to me. What time did this concert start because it’s October according to a calendar in their house and they’re in Pennsylvania so the sun would go down let’s say 6 o’clock. that’s the earliest concert I’ve ever heard of that wasn’t like a festival

Raven told him this was a matinee showing that had been added on as the Trap, and that there was a second show that night. Which creates a paradox because the show was set as a trap AFTER police found his ticket stub, which meant he had already bought a ticket to the existing show, which, as you said, would be at night. M Night should have plugged his script and notes into chatGPT and had it scan for continuity problems. 😅

I thought I posted this already but I can’t see it so here it is again. The timeline makes no sense. We learn right at the start that the concert has been added after all the other concerts sold out. The concert was added specifically as a trap for Cooper because the FBI knew he would be there because his wife found the ticket. Hang on. How did he have a ticket for the concert before it had been organized? It was only organized as a trap because he was going to be there. It’s not a concert that was taking place anyway. It’s an extra concert that would not have happened without him. There is no possible order of events that works.

The first 30 minutes set up a movie we never got to see. After the concert, the rest of the story deflated like a balloon. M. Shyamalan did subvert my lowest expectations. What a waste of time!

It's all ridiculous when you stop to think about it. He really couldve easily just watched the concert and left at the end. They didn't know what he looked like and would have had no way of knowing or proving that he was the killer even if they did arrest him. The whole premise makes no sense
