Just found your channel. Bravo!! You have made me miss my Mom...she was one of the best cooks. Unfortunately, I never paid attention when she was in the kitchen like I should have. My Dad was a pretty amazing cook too, so I really enjoy seeing Greek men cook as well, makes me proud to be Greek. They have both passed away now. My Mom was from Sparti and my Dad from Athens. You give very precise and simple directions. So happy to see these beautiful recipes from our culture being kept alive!!

      Yiassou Elianna,
Kalosorisate!! Welcome!! Thank you VERY much for your kind comments. Sounds like we both miss our moms and that they were both excellent cooks. Yes... I am VERY glad I got as many of her recipes as I did... I was hoping to create a cookbook of all of mom's recipes. I knew lots of them since I have been her helper since I was knee high to a grasshopper...hehehe but I wrote as many of the 'rarer' ones down as we could both remember. I am guessing I got about 90% of them. She developed dementia and it progressed quite quickly so having them written down was an unexpected stroke of luck. My dad only did the BBQ and the lamb at Easter...but he did them very well. He also made the wine and smokes his own salmon etc.... but glad you had great food from both sides. Mom was from a tiny town called Vrina which is close to Olympia and my dad is from the island of Skiathos. Thank you for the very kind feedback and I hope you try the recipes. More will be coming soon!! Take care and thank you again!!

@@eliannajaskulski1360 Hi again.. my condolences for your parents as well. ehehehe.. Greeklish is just fine... I use it to when I am too lazy to use my greek font (plus I don't spell well in Greek hahaha). She didn't have much choice, I was in there like a moth to a flame... I am her firstborn and she doted on me. Yes, I was very lucky to have her for a mom, she was an amazing person that lit up the room wherever she went, she could cook like no one I know and she would sing at the drop of a hat. My grandfather, her father, used to call her his 'aidoni' and everyone would ask for their favourite songs. She had a true heart of gold.
Alas, youvetsi was not one of the dishes mom used to make. Not sure why. The closest she made would be a pilafi or kokkinisto with manestra or hilopites etc. I will be making this in the near future, but mom's was always stove-top, not in the oven. I hope it will suffice. I know how to make youvetsi from my restaurant days, but I am focusing this channel on mom's kitchen, only.
Thank you again very much for your comments. They do mean a lot!!
      Take care!!
