I remember these guys from their Molesting the Decapitated days. That is when their drums sounded like hitting the side of a Cheerios box just to see how much Cheerios was left. This one rages.
@@NotAnemia Infernal Death Metal Greetings! Well, let me thank you for the reply! Yeah, I thought it might be funny to write the comment as is. I guess it took a year for someone to get the punchline. Alright, Anemia never stop raging.
Nickenator8 Devourment's first album was slam for sure and few ones after that too. This is a bit different, but I'd still call this slam and who really cares anyways. The music is great
For non metalheads it's hard to believe that you can relax while listening to this kind of music. But for me heavy music is always a way to let the anger out but I also get that it's not everybody's taste. Thats okay at least you should listen to whatever you like.
Never even heard of these guys before today but you're right there's something to the tempo or melody that makes this totally chill for death metal but at the same time intense and bad ass and totally aggressive.
there's an article in the scientific journal Frontiers called Extreme Metal Music and Anger Processing that corroborates what we've all been saying for years
I hate how people complain about the "lack of slams" in their newer albums. Quit your bitchen Devourment pioneered that shit they can do what they want with their style.
I think Defeated Sanity's "Chapters Of Repugnance" takes that crown, personally. The production was dirty but just clear enough, AJ's vocals are beast, the drumming is absurd, the basslines were clear and accented the atonal guitar playing perfectly. Don't even get me started on how the hell they figured out some of the signature/tempo changes. Really solid group of musicians.
+heitorpachec0 if they mixed the new style with the old and brought Ruben in as secondary vocals then it could turn into a beastly project cuz i like the sound of Mike and how the bands evolved but it got a little boring and needs that Hardcore edge the old band had
I found this cause I was watching fails in metal concerts and the sound of this band caught my attention... and now I'm fucking amazed with Devourment... guys you have a new fan from Argentina!
Never thought I would see the day when bands like devourment become so widely known and popular. Some seriously heavy bands are almost mainstream these days it crazy but Its cool.
I've been a fan of death metal since early 90s, I am really glad to know that this pure florida-tampa made like pure death band still exist in the US soil!
Just becuase someone likes deathcore doesnt mean they cant like this. I like some deathcore bands that doesnt mean i cant like this. Also, that first slam was brutal as hell.
In terms of musicianship and creativity blending atonality and melody, DS is the pinnacle of it in every regard. I've heard Abominable, but honestly it just sounds like a better produced version of the same stuff that has been around since the early 90's. I felt Chapters Of Repugnance was a really original release, pretty unmistakable sound.
Да Работу проделали. Шикарную !!? В этом Весь и Смысл всей Муз составляющей. Бро!!? А кто Этого не Понимает Пусть Дальше идут глумиться под Свой Жоп - Поп.
I don't really know anything about this band. Just checking them out from them being on Garza's podcast. It seems from alot of the comments that they trigger all kinds of elitist dorks lol
Well, no slam band will ever write an album as good as Molesting the Decapitated or Butcher The Weak again. Yes, it's a slight change in style, and I do wish there was more slam in it, but it's still the best brutal death metal album of 2013 IMO.
I always thought this was just heavier deathcore. I mean, that's basically what it is but I didn't know till today that its called slam. fucking brutal \m/
Have you listened to the full album? I felt like it was a big step forward for the genre, as honestly I've felt like there's been quite a bit of stagnation within the style. It didn't come off as "tough", which is the vibe a lot of modern slam tends to convey. The imagery the music presented was essentially the embodiment of an actual nightmare that you couldn't quite grasp the nature or gravity of. Constantly shifting into something more horrifying than before. That's my opinion though.
already this year we've experienced many different examples of bad ass slam/brutal DM with Katalepsy, Defeated Sanity, Wormed, Gutteral Secrete, and i'm sure others that i haven't gotten around to yet. Sure, Concieved is not Molesting the Decapitated, but it sure as hell isn't their releases between. I actually felt like they went back closer to the ideas in Molesting. To each their own and what you prefer but this is quantifiably very good. and there's plenty of killer slams.
Actually the budget for this video was pretty good, filmed with great camera work and direction Just because it doesn't have a plot like today's huge videos doesn't mean anything. I actually prefer the simplism. It's about the music, not some girl wandering around aimlessly in a forest while clips of the band play in between.
er... the vocals are pretty upfront. this is brutal/slam death metal style vocals. i don't know what you were expecting when you pressed the play button on this video. seriously, if you can't hear the vocals, you've got something wrong with your speakers or your ears or something.
Super heavily directed and professional music videos, high production quality...also getting signed to Relapse Records. Dying Fetus made the same transition of going from a fairly raw underground favorite, to a big selling death metal act. Devourment is just kinda getting a similar treatment. I'm not hating on it though, Dying Fetus is pretty much heavy as ever, although I'm not diggin' this new Devo quite as much as the old stuff.
I remember these guys from their Molesting the Decapitated days. That is when their drums sounded like hitting the side of a Cheerios box just to see how much Cheerios was left. This one rages.

1:03 Slam is love, slam is life
YESS YESS YESS 1:03 THAT S WHAT I M TALKING ABOUT :))
I remember going out of my way to hate on slam because of the vocals, now slam is one of my favorite subgenres
Devourment brutal death not slam death
it's honestly slamming brutal death if we wanna get real specific about it
Nickenator8 Devourment's first album was slam for sure and few ones after that too. This is a bit different, but I'd still call this slam and who really cares anyways. The music is great
PathologicalCannibal Took the words out from my mouth lol
For people who Hate Slam, ARE FUCKING PUSSIES!!!!!

Not a metal head myself but every genre from the Extreme Metal umbrella make me calm and relaxed
for me every genre of music has its own beauty. i can relax to both lana del rey and morbid angel
Never even heard of these guys before today but you're right there's something to the tempo or melody that makes this totally chill for death metal but at the same time intense and bad ass and totally aggressive.

my ass having almost fallen asleep multiple times while listening to devourment
Life would not be worth living- without bands like Devourment!
really
So glad they didn’t stay broken up forever.
When I hear this music my brain finally calms down and my heart beat slows and I have peace.
Thank God for slam.
loving the straight forward, groove oriented sound on this song
I hate how people complain about the "lack of slams" in their newer albums. Quit your bitchen Devourment pioneered that shit they can do what they want with their style.
For real man, tbh the more sparing use of slams makes them sound so much more brutal and crushing
There is literally no vocals on that song LOL
@@113KILL5 Homie is talking about the album.
1:02 those slam$
best part
U call that slams? Viraemia - disseminated intravascular coagulation
thelolmaster1997 Thats Technical Death Metal, Devourment is still 10000 million times better
Agustin Rodriguez ...ok I was just showing you something that could blow ur mind
The vocals here are the epitome of death metal vocals, so bubbly, sounds like burping and vomiting, Exceptional!
Lmao no.
bro has never listened to heinous killings
This song is like à cloud of butterflies in spring Day
this is probably the best vocal performance from the record. Devourment needs to stay as filthy as humanly possible
this song gave me a urinary tract infection
love how the drumming sounds real! Too much clean up these days with producers. Sounds cheesy.
For some reason this gives me flashbacks to when I first listened to Cannibal Corpse
Devourment needs to release somthing new!!!
+John Scotter i want to see it, further Rubbens is on vocals again
+heitorpachec0 if they mixed the new style with the old and brought Ruben in as secondary vocals then it could turn into a beastly project cuz i like the sound of Mike and how the bands evolved but it got a little boring and needs that Hardcore edge the old band had
+Erik Britz I Never though about Rubens doing backing vocals, now you told this, i barely can imagine how beasty it could be.
you see ive always imagined them like that mixing verses etc aah such i beautifull dream come true that would be SIGH
Yep they need to, I am missing Devourment so much
Melodic, romantic ballad!!!
I found this cause I was watching fails in metal concerts and the sound of this band caught my attention... and now I'm fucking amazed with Devourment... guys you have a new fan from Argentina!
I remember like 8 years ago when I was in high school mike sent me free devourmet stickers, now they are on a label, sick!!
Never thought I would see the day when bands like devourment become so widely known and popular. Some seriously heavy bands are almost mainstream these days it crazy but Its cool.
Insane vocals, super heavy stuff
Insane? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish I could like this video twice
I want to share this music with the world.
This song is so beautiful.
Great song. Definitely picking this album up soon.
I've been a fan of death metal since early 90s, I am really glad to know that this pure florida-tampa made like pure death band still exist in the US soil!
Love this new sound. Kinda pulled and old school I Declare War with the vocals.
Would be INSANE if they did their next video for "Fucked With Rats" and included Travus Ryan of Cattle Decap/Murder Construct in it!!
These guys could open up for Nickelback or Bon Jovi.
Would be fucking hilarious ^^
Book it!
I like it cause if the sound and the heavy punk and deathcoreyness and groovyness
Just becuase someone likes deathcore doesnt mean they cant like this. I like some deathcore bands that doesnt mean i cant like this. Also, that first slam was brutal as hell.

It's 2021 and holy shit.
They should tour with Disgorge (mexico) that would melt faces
the groove is insane

Grizzly growls and friggin awesome music. I'm a new fan.
I loved their album 1.3.8, which got me into Devourment. Especially the one song called "Babykiller." I fucking love this album as well!

This guys r d reason, DEATHMETAL is d best music in human history
i wouldve loved to see a video with the animation type as the album cover of a mad scientist torturing and injecting a poor sap with parasites.
I mean there's a lyric video for 50 ton war machine that has the conceived in sewage album cover animated

Slam was long before deathcore so.
+MultiKamil97 how old?
+Memento Mori First slam band was made around 1993. First deathcore started around 2000.
that's interesting, I always figured slam came after deathcore just because it was so much more extreme. you learn something every day
Slam started shortly after brutal death metal was made and yeah, a lot of oldschool deathcore bands used slam riffs so it can mislead you.
just feel I should tell you that the singer is jacked!
Devour is THE only legit slam band. It's funny because they are the OG's of slam.
ALL HEIL TEXAS DEATH METAL 🤘🏻🇸🇴
Kings of slam!! \m/
Those who write hate comments don't know shit. This is best music for slam and moshpit.

nice vocal production
