When the Allis Chalmers 8000 series came out, the sales literature said right on the cover"the innovators offer, what others will imitate. Truer words were never spoke. The 7000/8000 series set the standards with pressure and flow compensated hydraulic systems, large spacious cabs, opposed intake and exhaust manifold, tight turning, the draft system that actually worked, power shift transmission that had no gaps or pauses, ease of service, easy fueling just to name a few features that were copied by all the manufacturers. As a side note this 8070 is missing the chrome Allis Chalmers emblems on the door
RJ 1999 Also, put an old Deere 7000 series beside an Allis 8000 series, and the resemblance is uncanny. They are nothing like the bubble cab iron horse series.
One of my first jobs was working at an Allis-Chalmers parts warehouse in Chamblee GA. The dealer brochures for the tractors and combines were epic.
I grew up driving AC's. Thanks for sharing these!
Very cool. What did you drive. I like finding ACs to film and share.
Same here, older stuff. Usually the 8550, but also the 200 and 185. Not to mention the Gleaner L2. Thanks
@@bigtractorpower AC 200 and 180
I haul out of the old engine plant all the time. Its Sterling Lumber now. The water tower is still standing with the Allis-Chalmers name still on it.
That is so cool. I would like to see that water tower.
Well if I remember and get to that end of the yard I'll get ya one. Sterling uses the whole building and outside property. Its huge.
And I could be wrong but I think the also had a parts factory about 20 min north of where I grew up.
I worked for a AC dealership in late 90s early 2000s. This truly was a awesome tractor. Great cab very comfortable controls well laid out great visibility. The dealership transferred these tractors in from all over the country after production stopped. Biggest drawback was engine great at factory speck but would blow head gaskets if it was turned up over 200HP. I repaired so many could tell as soon as I heard it run if it had blown. If AC had put the Cummins 8.3L in this tractor it could have saved the company. When I farmed I wanted a 8030 or 8070 so bad but could not afford one.
Those were great tractors !!!
They sure are.
They still are
I had the privilege to operate this Allis - Chalmers 8070 front wheel assist, it was a very nice tractor to run and a lot more room in the cab as to the 7030.
Love the 8000 Allis-Chalmers tractors.
A-C was and in certain ways, will always be ahead of its time, great video B.T.P..
AC sure was. First rubber tire tractor, first round baler, first 12 row corn head etc....
I sure wish that Allis Chalmers can somehow make a comeback.
@@robertunderwood6984AGCO (Allis-Gleaner Company) could theoretically bring it back.
I worked on and drove several of these tractors when I was working at a AC dealer. These were some awesome tractors.
Very cool. What dealer did you work for?
@@bigtractorpower Ripley Tractor Co. in Ripley Tennessee. they were in business over 50 years altogether.
Those 8000 series are good tractors. I’ve got an 8030. I think that 8070 you were in had the 12 speed power shift.
Very cool on the 8030. Yes this was a Power Shift. It had the decal on the window.
Ive heard and from what ive seen the powershift allis built were better than deeres. When you compare how many power shift 7 and 8000 series are still running untouched as opposed to deeres it says something. If you see an allis sitting 9 out 10 time the engine is worn out or over heated from lack of maintenance.
For sure it was the 6x2 power shift and not the power director. Both would have been available in that tractor though. 80 series were great tractors.
Awesome video!! Love the Allis Chalmers 6000, 7000 and 8000 series! Thank you.
Your welcome. Thank you for watching.
Never let you down, awesome model from A.C.
Very true.
You hit home on this one. I spent lots of hours on this tractor ( two wheel drive) plowing. Had John Deere but this was my favorite plowing tractor. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Very cool. Thank you for sharing. I hope to find more 8000’s to share.
Excellent tractor!
I own an 8070
Very cool. The 8070 was a tractor ahead of its time with a big cab.
I have always loved the look of that model Allis and it still looks better than the tractors today 👌😎👍
It is a modern day classic that stands out.
That was a big one back in its day!!
It sure was. Ahead of its time.
I’ve spent many hours in an Allis Chalmers 8010 that my parents bought brand new back in 1983. The tractor is still being used by the people that purchased the farm in 1997.
The 8010 is one of the greats. Thank you for sharing.
One of my all time favorites!
Glad to have an 8070 fan watching.
Great video!!! Love those 8000 series AC tractors. Awesome sound.
As a note, those tractors were available not only with the 20F/4R speed Power Director transmission you mentioned in the specs, but with the option of a 12F/2R speed Power Shift as well. As Luke Groner indicated in his earlier comment to this video, the 8070 shown here has the Power Shift.
Again, this is an awesome video to watch. Please keep all of your great videos coming.
I remember when I was a kid riding in a 8070 with a chisel plow. I loved listening to that Allis engine grunt. The 8000 series is my favorite AC line. This was a great video.
Very cool. What brand of chisel plow did you run?
bigtractorpower It was a John Deere chisel
Real tractor ,not made of plastic and full of computers .
They were built to last.
In fact the back of these tractor are so tough and résistants that our tractor dealer said it less tough to order spare pieces even if it cost more
The ol' girl has stood the test of time.
It sure has.
Fred Ivory and still better than what's built today
tractor in vid i believe has 6spd power shift , however . 12x2 spd total . and i wood LOVE to see 8095 . worked for komatsu dealer for 13 years . much of their engine line were CUMMINS licensed engines and and both shared parts production as with CDC and Iveco . SO , i am HIGHLY interested there . thanx , bud for the work
Dang!! Hit a home run with history on this video!! Very interesting!
Thank you for watching.
Love Allis. Had 8050,lost in fire. Still miss it
I was wondering if anyone out there knew of the 4 or so AC-8095 models. I have a book on Allis-Chalmers that displayed the 8095 an always wondered where the few that were made went.
God I love being an orange tractor lover. You get weird looks when you drive a 180 to the gas station, but I enjoy it!
I like Allis tractors. I know a farm about four hours from me has two 8095s. I hope to film them sometime.
I would love if you could film those 8095 S
I would like to hear the Kamatsu
Diesel and find out if they had both transmission options.
We are AllisChalmers people on our farm so it’s great to see videos of them
Very cool. I am always looking for ACs to film.
bigtractorpower if you ever get by OLF I got 8030 and 8010.
Best of engineering
Thank you so much, had one still have a 8050. Still best cab on the market, a few up grades it would be best today! I think that Hunley in southern Indiana the 8090.
I had heard they had one or two. That is cool you have an 8050.
bigtractorpower I did a little research the Old Alice News spring of 2013 magazine has an article about Hunley’s two 8095‘s they put it Deutz in one and a Cummins in the other. I truly look forward to that video I’d like to see it run to, again thank you for your effort. Also on my wish list is seeing Versatile’s Big Roy in person!
Yes I did big tractor👍🏻 thank you very much🐝
You are welcome. I like finding AC tractors to film.
Allis Chalmers will always be better then Deere or case and I'm a Deere guy.
AC built some great machines.
Its always older equipment dragging new junk back to the dealer.
If they were so great they would not have gone away.
gone rydin AC went away becusse farmers stopt buying them. Farmers in the 80s didnt have enough money to buy new tractors
Using your logic then, why is John Deere still in business? They suffered the exact same economic conditions that AC did. I'll give you the answer if you can't figure it out.
Thanks for all the info on what happen during the 80s. It's incredible the mergers and selling of companies during this time frame. (mid 80s).
It was a tough tough time to be in farming. Interest was almost 20%. Not easy to finance a new tractor.
Somehow, I missed this video. Always love to see past models, specifications and background info. Thanks!
Thank you for watching. The AC 8070 is a nice tractor. It was fun to film it.
Love the orange Allis Chalmers
Good to hear. I am always on the hunt for Allis tractors.
I'd like to see an 8095, I thought I read they were dismantled. A gleaner L4 with the Cummins would be a good find to.
There are two 8095s in Indiana. I hope to film them. An L4 is a tall order. I have the AC Mexicans brochure on the L4. I believe they were all sold in Canada.
bigtractorpower Cool ,that'll be neat to see. Sumerix equipment in machine michigan had an L4 a few years ago for sale but they didn't have it long.
Thank you BTP.
You are welcome. I like finding AC tractors.
love this video my job has a 8070 allis chalmers with the khd logo on it its a 1986 one of the last one of it kind before it went green
Wow very cool. Does the hood decals say Deutz-Allis? The KHD branded 8070s are rare. KHD just used up remaining parts inventory at West Allis through December 7, 1985 building orange 8000 and 6000 series tractors to fill dealer inventory until the Deutz built spring tractors were fully imported. The 8000 and 6000 tractors built from May to December 1985 received Deutz Allis decals. Existing inventory received Deutz Allis cover up decals to paste right over the AC decals. The rear windows in the tractors still said Allis-Chalmers because it was in the glass and could not be covered and the windows were already in stock at the factory.
@@bigtractorpower no it a allison Chalmers but I have seen a video when they were crossing over to the duzts and it's the last model of the allis
Drove a two wheel 8070 AC for several years while working for a farmer in our community. The original motor went bad while pulling a small dirt pan and engine was replaced with Cummins power plant. The original engine had lots of power but the Cummins really made it into a workhorse. Unfortunately years after the Cummins upgrade, the tractor caught fire and was total loss.
Thank you for the videos. I'd love to see the Allis Chalmers 8095 if you ever find one. Thanks again.
It’s a top model on my filming wish list. I think I can track one down not too far from me.
@@bigtractorpower hundleys own them. huge topics of convo on some forums i frequent. i also have a pic saved of a tractor they posted forsale on fb with the 8095 in the background.
Great video ! I always love watching a Allis Chalmers tractor in the field and the tractor were in had the 12speed, 2 reverse power shift transmission in it. J and L video has a Allis Chalmers 8000 series video on the tractors
That company video on the J&L channel is video. I have been to the dealer that supplied the Loretta Lynn Ranch. After AC went out they became a Case IH dealer and today it is a Kubota dealer.
bigtractorpower That had to be a wonderful experience for you
First big tractor I drove was an AC 190XT
One of the all time greats. The 190XT set new standards in its day.
Another good 📹 now i need to see one of those 8095's inn 🎬
Hopefully I can film an 8095. It’s a cool part of the AC story.
I have seen one of those in Finland at work, but can't remember exact model number. That was also fwa model. If I remember right it was imported to Valmet ( now Valtra) and they thinking to co-operate with AC, but they headed to Volvo tractors which became Volvo BM Valmet. Fanny, but both Valtra and AC are part of AGCO today.
The guy that own farm I was born on and my dad worked for had bought one of these tractor. I liked the looks of these tractors because the way front set up it always looked liked it was pulling hard even sitting still. Years later they traded it for a ford new Holland tractor.
The 8000s are good looking machines.
These are good tractors.
Allis-Chalmers built some great tractors.
Very interesting and thanks again
Thank you for watching.
Great stream sir thank you
Thank you for watching.
nice video
Glad you liked it.
Nice AC tractor simple to work on. AC was a huge conglomerate back then. My opinion as a non farmer, new buyer should have kept AC badge not the German company. Much appreciated.
Deutz found that out in less than 5 years. They lost millions upon millions.
@@bigtractorpower I believe that's what drove them into bankruptcy in '94-'95.
A-C had 6 speed power shift with 2 ranges 7000 and 8000 series. They also could be equipped with the power director transmission. The engines left a little to be desired could not handle being turned up.
Very nice, it will be great to see next bigger one Deutz Allis
I am working on a Deutz Allis 9170.
Those cabs were huge back then.
Lots of room for sure.
I remember this tractor one thing I remember bout it was the power shift an when you depressed the clutch it would automatically shift into 2nd gear loved getting to operate it in my younger yrs. On the dairy farm.
Very cool.
Great tractor. You should attend some steam shows like Kinzer Pa and film some big traction engines! The Threshermens Reunion is coming up.
That would be fun. I have filmed some at the Half Century of Progress Show. They are true Big Tractor Power.
Going orange is going great
My friend in Louisiana, mother , won a contest through Allis Chalmers for coining that phrase
I built one of 8095 prototype at the proving ground Frankville, WI
Wow thank you for sharing. The 8095 looks like it would have been a great tractor. Komatsu powered?
Also when I worked there 1984 to the end in 85 One of my projects was some update on the 8000 series, of witch I think never went into production it was near the end in 1985
The 8095’s are now in Lexington Missouri.
Very nice tractor 🚜💪
Good information 👍
Thank you for watching. I like finding ACs.
Loved it. Great information.
Thank you.
I always liked the look of the 8000’s the best other than the B models.
They are cool tractors. I want to find a D-21 to film.
That tractor is #1 on my wish list of tractors to have.
I actually like the Allis-Deutz tractors! very nice. And I might know of a 8095 You can get to
I am a Deutz-Allis fan. I am working on a 9170 video. That’s cool on the 8095.
What I have heard is that there are two 8095 tractors in Austin Indiana still being ran out in the field and used and those are the only two still running. I think but do some research and might see what you find there at Austin
I have heard they are in Indiana as well. I hope to get to film them working someday.
Sound! 👍
Every Big Tractor Power video is all about the sound of the machine. The tractors engine is the best music.
Great video,
Thank you.
What a nice machine. In a way AC is still in business under the name AGCO (Allis-Gleaner Corporation)
AC lead to a major global tractor company in AGCO which is pretty cool. If you look a Challenger logo it is in the style of AC. A for AGCO and C for Challenger.
I read where late last year that AGCO owns the Challenger brand tractor. They always did manufacture the Challenger for Caterpillar.I saw a Challenger tractor ad late without the Challenger logo on the tractor.
@@robertunderwood6984 back in the mid 1990's I worked at Crenlo and they built the Challenger cabs but they were almost identical to the New Holland Genesis cab except for one door vs two and a few minor details. Never did know what the exact reason why the two cabs were built on the same assembly line with mostly the same components.
You should come to the thresherman reunion in Pinckneyville Illinois
I hope to some day. My friend Mike Whalen invites me every year. I would like to go but it’s a 6 hour drive and combines are shelling corn here so I have to film those as fast as I can.
bigtractorpower you have to go. A lot of neat pieces of agricultural history and also a bunch of video material.
I love the orange tractors
They are great machines. I like orange too.
Better by design.
👍
I have a brochure for 8000 series Allis Chalmers tractor line it sits on my shelf as a decoration in my bedroom
Very cool. That is a great brochure. I I remember picking up my copy at my local AC dealer and being excited hoe modern the 8070 looked.
@@bigtractorpower thank you so much it is pretty cool the 8000 series a is a cool and modern tractor
Couldn’t an AC 516 engine be fitted into one of these? It was an awesome engine.
great engine but too much torque. The drive train would need to be heavier.... though the 8070 was as heavy built in the right places as any at the time. The 516 is also too wide.
Where could I find info on 8070 power steering problems. It does have the front drive axle
Try the allis chalmers forums it’s where no go when I have problems with my 85 8070 the old timers there helped a lot even sent me some parts just to keep ole allis goin they really are nice gentlemen on that forum and they appreciate the younger generation like myself that takes pride in these tractors
That's a hum dinger!
Great tractor, hate the backwards slanted grill design
hello mr jason i have an 84 allis chalmers 8070 and the hydraulic pump is gone, would you know anyone that could give me an estimate of what im looking at to fix this issue or would it be best just to send her to the grave yard thanks!
A allis that doesn't smoke like a sailer pretty rare lol
It’s a tough tractor.
nothing better than 8070 power my is turned up to 200 with 466 motor
IH 466 in an 8070?
@@bigtractorpower That would be a 466 Navistar, relative to the IH 466 but looks a whole lot different. AGCO used that engine for a while in the 90's. There was also a 530. AGCO sold them as a repower unit for a while too.
We are planting sugar cane from 8/14 /18 for the next 4 weeks and after that'd
Very cool. I want to film sugar cane some day to feature.
Older tractors really were bombproof compared to a lot of modern machines though I dare say the modern luxury I wish our 70s and 80s made Fords had is proper suspension and not to rubber blocks in the front cab mounts a sprung seat that launches me into the roof
Those rubber mounts were a big step forward in their day but new machines sure have a smooth ride.
bigtractorpower I must admit ours had a smooth ride so long as you go in the direction it was ploughed or along any corrugations the sheep have made otherwise you start resembling an extra from Wayne's World
We got one with 1600 hours on it
Very cool.
It's one of the last ones I think , because it had the Deutz Allis decals over top the Allis Chalmers decal and over time the Deutz Allis decal pealed off of one side, so one side said Allis Chalmers, and the other side said Deutz Allis
Would love to see it..any photos?
I am from South Africa..only about 20x8000 series were sold in SA
They wasn't bad old tractors not good as case but they wasn't bad.
Case.... what's that? ;)
Case like 2590 2594 or 1570 that case? Case engine was good but rest of the tractor wouldn't even come close to a 8070. Allis was yrs ahead of case. I guess opinion vary
Case wasn’t much around here in the Northeast .
