- The far side 2-on-1 control is a powerful clinch that offers a lot of control and takedown opportunities. In this video, I go over entering into this control, context and takedowns, as well as submission opportunities from there. Whatever context of fighting this is used for, from sport grappling to MMA to self defense, this clinch type maintains a high degree of effectiveness and usefulness.

This is exactly the kind of stuff the jiu jitsu community needs to learn more of
This is great. I had to do something very similar at work a few months back when a patient brandished a fork in the face of a colleague. Thankfully there were enough staff for a low-stress standing restraint and de-escalate. My point is this; as a low-skill white belt, I was able to problem solve under stress to progress my position without panic against while keeping myself, my colleagues and patients (especially the guy I was holding) safe. BJJ for cops, yes, but I'd also advise nursing staff who work in mental health to try it as well.
I dig the first part of this (takedown/ free arm control) as a control technique for law enforcement. Definitely gonna drill this soon
This is brilliant Eli! From standing to ground fight. I have no belts or gi or even enrolled myself to BJJ. I just learned a lot from youtube, especially on this channel. From fundamentals to this.
Waiting for the next video🙏
Glad you like it and I hope it helps!
I am not a fighter and have no belt. Just study/training self defense. My main problem is closing the distance into a clinch. It is not so easy as it seems. Your flow from clinch to rnc is super. Thanks for sharing.
I have some videos on closing the distance to the clinch that might be helpful with the timing.
Closing the distance might be a problem if you're fighting, not if you're trying to defend yourself. In self defense the bad guy will close the distance for you and would be standing right there in your face.
Excellent point. I totally agree.
Very easy to follow! I have learned quite a bit from these. Thank you Knight BJJ!
Always happy to help!
This is my favorite clinch set up too; like you said, so many options from this position.
Absolutely. This video could’ve been an hour long.
Slick! I loved this in the digital martial arts seminar
Thank you!
I like the incorporation of striking/real life situations. I
Great stuff, coach! 🙏🙏
I'm from Brazil and I really appreciate all you content. Thanks a million! God bless you
I really appreciate that. Thank you.
What city? Tudo bem!
@@Chandasouk Olá, tudo bem com você? Nowdays I'm living in Florianópolis! In my opinion is one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil!
@@diuliaavilas muito legal! Sou dos Estados Unidos mas falo um pouco de Português. "Aprendi" em Duolingo rsrs.
You are right about the city. Tanta beleza.
@@Chandasouk que coincidência! Eu amo seu idioma e você ama o meu idioma rsrs! parabéns pelo seu empenho! português é muito difícil, keep going and don't give up! oss
i love these moves that don't require a ton of athleticism, gold!
Love your channel man. I’m almost 3 months into this journey. Your videos at least give me hope before typically getting strangled. Lol.
I really appreciate that and glad to help any way I can.
Always good and simple videos
Because I came from Muay Thai, i always liked throws like this. it seemed to just flow off a double under clinch.
Good for headlock self defense too. You can also lift the guy at the beginning when your hips were 90 degrees to his.
Great technique
Sir you are always too good 🙏
Hey! Could you do a video on how to defense or counter a pulling backward full rear naked choke turtorial? Thx!!!
The amount of options jui jitsu offers is v cool
Nice try, Eli. If you ever run into Casper the Ghost, he'd just phase through you and nullify your grappling!
Damn. That’s a good point....
Can you do a review on how to escape the back mount when someone has your arm trapped behind their leg.
Nice video 👏
Eli, I've seen you do the stomp to back of knee takedown when against a wall, but what do you think of this takedown whenever you have their back (not just against a wall)? I don't see it in MMA or jiu jitsu matches and wonder why. And I'm not referring to a "crab ride" takedown, I'm talking about just kicking out one leg. Thanks.
When you aren’t against the wall, but in a rear standing clinch with them, I feel like there are better and more reliable takedowns like a sacrifice throw or valley drop or even just a crackdown from the waist.
@@KnightJiuJitsu I'll experiment with it when they let us have human contact again in NY haha
The issue is that against someone your own size, you don't want to lift a leg when in a back bodylock, because if they have experience they will be leaning into you. Instead buckle their knee from the outside with your knee, both feet in the ground. Do this to the side his arm is trapped and after you buckle the knee inwards throw him to the ground towards the trapped shoulder, where he has no post. This is subtle but commonly seen in MMA
dumb question, would this be a good option if you missed the basic clinch?
I think so. I think it’s also good even if you did get the full clinch to transition to this.
Powerful Clinch Control & Takedown
The far side 2-on-1 control
0:45 I believe you can also attack ogoshi from that position.
Yep. Just have to be careful since one of your arms is technically trapped to their side.
@@KnightJiuJitsu But I'm sure there is lots of other throws and takedowns you can do.
hey iv been having trouble finding videos on more takedowns from this position any recomondations on some vids
I’ll see what I can do!
Are there any drills for jiu jitsu but for kids I’m 13 years old and want to learn
Look at some of my solo and partner drills on my channel. They’re good for all ages.
I like to catch the far side 2 on 1 from bottom half guard when my opponent tries to push down on my top leg to pass. From here if they’re not super strong or have really big arms I can bridge and sweep them. Again haven’t had much success using it against super big strong ppl but can just regard those ppl and work 😂
That’s definitely a good use for it too.
Nice 🖒👍🖒👏👌
It's called a 2-on-1 Wrist Ride.
Very common in Freestyle- and Folkstyle wrestling.
Saw this in a low level muay thai fight to set up head and body knees and it won the dude the fight.
That’s awesome. So many uses for it.
Every cop needs to learn bjj
